I checked Yelp beforehand and noticed some pretty negative reviews, but after eating here, I honestly have no idea why. I had a fabulous experience! The food was great and very reasonably priced. I ordered the enchiladas verde, half chicken and half beef, and the portion was huge. They also bring complimentary chips and salsa, and the salsa was really good. My waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. He took the time to help me decide what to order and provided excellent service throughout the meal. The service was top-notch. It definitely has a lively Mexican bar atmosphere, but I thought that was part of the charm. Great food, generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service--especially when you need a good meal later in the evening. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend this place to my fellow business travelers!

I was in Montgomery dropping my daughter off at college, and someone recommended Little Donkey. We actually went twice during our visit, and both times the service was great. I ordered the fried chicken taco, smoked beef brisket taco, Gulf shrimp taco, and catfish taco. I enjoyed most of the tacos, especially the fried chicken, shrimp, and catfish. The smoked beef brisket was the only miss for me because it was pretty dry. Now...the rice and beans. This is where my L.A. taste buds kicked in. The rice wasn't the flavorful Spanish/Mexican rice I'm used to back home, and both the rice and beans were pretty bland. I also ordered a top-shelf margarita, but you could barely taste the liquor. They have a sign posted stating that their drinks contain 1.25 oz of liquor, which I quickly learned seems to be pretty common around Montgomery. Definitely different from what I'm used to in L.A.! The chips and salsa, though? Really good! The chips were fresh and crunchy, and the salsa tasted fresh. We liked them so much we ended up ordering two orders. Overall, Little Donkey was a nice spot. The restaurant was clean and the service was consistently good. We chose to sit outside, which is unshaded at this time, but quite alright at night. Service was quick and efficient, with a smile. My brother and I ordered margaritas and a medium sized marg is quite substantial and a large would take care of anyone. I ordered the Texas Margarita over the rocks and was quite happy. They are not shy with the tequila. They bring the freshly made tortilla chips and salsa on the house. Nice touch. I ordered the Jose's Favorite shrimp over rice, which I had them modify with half shrimp and half steak. It comes with sliced sauteed zucchini and squash and accented with cheese. The zucchini and squash could be sliced slightly thicker, which would allow the veggies to retain their consistency and avoid being overcooked. Still a very nice effort and there was plenty of shrimp and short steak strips. The kitchen used a fair amount of butter, but could be more restrained in this regard. Pacos Tacos is a great place to come with friends or on a date. It's easy to like a place like this. There is no sticker shock with the bill and it would encourage ordering extras and another round. I was not blown away by Pacos Tacos, but it hits the mark and the food is served generously and at a fair value. Service is really good here. 3.7 stars!
