    Decor

La Cuisine was phenomenal! The ambiance and décor made it feel like stepping into a retro home kitchen. The space is incredibly versatile--perfect for a cozy, homey meal during the day, then seamlessly transforming into a lively kitchen club at night. The DJ was great, and the late-night atmosphere made it an ideal spot to go out, socialize, and meet all kinds of people.

Arrived in Quebec and needed a place to eat late night. This place has both food and drinks. They have daily specials - we came in when the special was a pitcher of beer for $14 or so. The people working here were very nice. The male server welcomed us in and was great at taking the extra time to give us his recommendations and explain in English. Sometimes in Quebec I feel like I'm shamed for not speaking French -this place did not do that. Ordered the blonde and red beer, boreale on tap. Had the French onion soup and lasagna. Food here is ok, you get exactly what you order and the prices are great. I think the main show here is the atmosphere. It's hip and trendy, with games set up and clothes lines with linen hanging as separators for tables. The vibe here is where it's at.

Stumbled on looking for a place to eat. Appreciate the funky decor and casual ambiance. A mosh mash of plates carries an extremely tasty sampling. We recommend the Pate Chinois and Cigare au Chou. Lovely little find I wish I could enjoy locally.

Walked in here because it was just across the street from the parking lot we parked in. It was exactly what we needed! All the food tasted like home. I loved their French onion soup--so much that I ordered another soup for my mom to try. Excellent service--everyone was super friendly and explained the menu to us. Their dessert was a bit off though. I forgot what it was called but it tasted as if it was one of those 5 minute microwave mug cakes. However, all the rest of the food was fresh! Would come back again.

Amazing gem of a place! We all ordered french onion soup as an appetizer, which was hot and delicious. For mains, we had nicoise salad, cabbage roll and shephards pie - all were tasty. We all agreed the cabbage roll was the best amongst what we ordered. Service was excellent as our waiter explained the menu to us. The ambiance was quirky and fun. Reasonably priced. Will go back again this evening before we leave Quebec City. Strongly recommend this restaurant.

Wow. What a spectacular restaurant. The decorations are perfect. The food was delicious and gentleman who served us was incredibly helpful. He spoke both English and French. I loved the old school video games available at the tables. If you're in the area definitely check it out. This is a real taste of the Quebec flavor.

The perfect place to stop when the skies suddenly open up and soak you as you are walking down! Parking: ummmm.. why would you drive here? Place: It's a pub. Obviously havent been updated in a while but the that's what all the good pubs are like :) There are 2 sections I sat in the back part, the front was filled with customers who had been sitting out under those umbrellas before the rain came . Lots of different sized tables. Ooh they have a shelf full of board games. Food: I don't drink but they have lots of craft beers and the couple next to me loved the amount they had on tap. When I first walked in the waitress walked by with what looked like a giant lasagna with salad and I thought oh I want that. When I looked at the menu I realized they don't have lasagna and I figured it must be the croques Monsieur. So that is what I ordered and that is exactly what came. It was very generous and full of cheese which was toasted golden brown it was really good. The salad was good too really fresh the dressing was good. I'm glad I chose it. Staff was nice. They spoke both French and English depending on what you were more comfortable with. I stumbled through French because I'm in Quebec I should speak French. It was a really casual vibe it was like a nice little oasis I had been walking a lot that day and it was just relaxing and chill. Would totally go again. I really like the food. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They immediately offered water to my dog. They were also attentive, but seemed to be a bit scatter-brained at times. Food was good. Bar food. Can't complain. You didn't feel horrible eating it. Quite filling and tasty actually. Yes, it's in the middle of a heavy traffic area. It may seem like a tourist trap, but it isn't. Worth a stop of a good bite while going through the city.

There was a jazz trio playing -- two elderly men on guitar and bass, and a younger fellow on the drums. They were rocking it. The crowd got pretty into it too, applauding the solos, swaying, and tapping their feet, without really getting disruptive. It's a good environment for this sort of music. A lot of jazz bands in bars and restaurants tend to sort of blend into the background, getting just a smattering of applause from the nearest table. It was nice both the musicians and patrons at Le Fou-Bar enjoying themselves. Besides the music, it seems like a pretty standard-issue bar. Not unpleasantly loud or crowded, even with the music. A bunch of beers on tap, mostly from Montreal's McAuslan brewery. The French reviews mention a large whiskey collection, but I didn't inspect it closely. I also saw a food menu, though I didn't see anyone eating from it, so it may be prudent to get your dinner elsewhere. The clientele seemed mostly local, and French-speaking, though the staff did speak more English than I spoke French. They did not seem to mind my non-Francais-parlezing ways. So basically, these five stars are not really for the food or drink or service (which seemed standard), but for being a fun, casual spot to listen to some good live music. From what I can decipher on the website, they have someone playing at 9pm every Tuesday.

I have seen reviews of this place where others have mentioned that it's not English speaking friendly, but in our experience that wasn't true. To be fair we did communicate in French, but of course English is easier for us to speak. Overall vibes of the place are pretty eccentric with a kind of rock and roll grunge vibe but they also had totems and other decorative pieces that gave a nod to Quebec's Native American people which was cool to see!

There was a solid music group performing and there was a nice selection of drinks and food on the menu.
