If I could give 10 stars, I would! Decided to walk from the hotel and see what the old towns had to offer. Not disappointed at all. Almost at the entry to old town they entice you with a dinner special. This place is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was perfect -- warm, welcoming, and full of energy. The staff went above and beyond, super friendly and genuinely happy to be there (which says a lot). They also spoke English which helped out a lot. Now the food... unreal. Everything we tried was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The beer selection. Over 200 beers on tap and in bottles -- local brews, imports, seasonal picks -- literally something for everyone. The bartender knew his stuff and even helped us find the perfect pairings for our meal. Between the amazing food, the unbeatable beer list, and the great service, this place checks every box. Definitely my new go-to spot for dinner, drinks, and good times with friends. 10/10 -- Can't wait to come back!
Perfectly located in Old Quebec on their main street. We sat outside since it was a perfect day to do so. There was also live music inside that we could hear which was a nice touch. Our server was very friendly and attentive and we ordered our drinks first and then ordered food. The poutine had the biggest cheese curds, so yum. The chicken dish was also very tasty and had a side of salad which was heavy on the dressing but still good. The only thing is that seating outside is on a hill so depending on where you sit you will be on a slant so be weary!
The atmosphere is energetic! It definitely has the look and vibe of a pub. We went on a Thursday night to grab a quick bite since most other places in old town were closed, and they had live music. It was very enjoyable, but it was loud. There looked to be an upstairs room, so perhaps that would be quieter. The poutine with smoked meat was really good and very shareable - we didn't finish it! The gravy was especially tasty. Beer selection was great and had a good local list. We opted for local beers and we were pleased. Service was attentive. Good place for a late night bite and drink!
Imagine just strolling in some perfect weather with a slight breeze and the vibe of the town is at a cruising pace and then I stumble upon some outdoor seating watching people enjoy some drinks and food in the cool summer atmosphere. I stood there watching everyone and wanted to be a part of the rhythm of it all. I found a table for myself and was greeted by a very friendly waitress. Drinks and oof was ordered and while I sat there waiting, from inside the bar, they were playing some oldies but goodies music that just added to the ambiance of my experience. My chicken wings and onion rings arrived and they were both good. The perfect accompaniment with beer and tequila. It was a perfect moment in my day with small bits and drinks and to sit under the umbrella of a beautiful day and just people watch. I hope you have a great experience if you come and visit this place. A bien tot!
This English style pub is located in Old town Quebec on St John St. it has a great vibe with lots of tables outside. Ideal people watching on a beautiful sunny day. The service and staff are great. We had an awesome Charcuterie Board washed down with some local beers. We sat here for a couple of hours in the sun. So relaxing.
Pooh and I came here for lunch and a few brews. I drank Murphy's Stout and Pooh was drinking Guinness After a few pints we ordered something to eat. Pooh has poutine and I ordered nachos. Pooh thought the sauce was a little salty. My nachos were wonderful. I've eaten a lot of nachos in my time and one thing I don't see often are the chips at the bottom still being warm. Here the chips were still toasty and there was even some fixings throughout the dish. The poutine was good for one person but my nachos could easily be split in two. All in all we were both happy with everything
A nice English pub, perfect for a drink and a bit to eat after a cold rainy morning walking old town Quebec. They have a fully stocked bar and seating upstairs. The restroom is upstairs. We enjoyed our food; order of poutine, beet shop, beef sandwich and French onion soup made with Guinness. The service was decent but the waiter seemed a bit annoyed with us and the service reflected it. Good plan to enjoy & watch sports.
Hubby wanted something casual, and the restaurant seemed busy. First, we had French Onion Soup. Not bad, but we have had better. I chose Salmon Salad, and it was in the form of a lox, rather than the standard small pieces of fish. It was pretty good though. Hubby had the Fish & Chips. It was just one giant piece of fish, but otherwise fine. Service was lacking. Server seemed to spend quite a bit of time chatting with his fellow servers. It's not a place I would care to return.

We tried the croque monsieur and the burger, both were sooo good. With over 200 beers, you should find one to your likings. We went local on tap and weren't disappointed. Go there!!!
Limited menu for food but pages and pages of beers and they are conveniently sorted by country of origin. Boreal blonde and Mactavish seasonal pints were very good. Nachos with chili served with guacamole and sour cream was plenty for two, Downside, many of the chips were well, well done (burnt) making it difficult to pull apart and scoop the good stuff!
We ended up watching France in the World Cup here while seated at the bar. It was pretty wild to be cheering with a bar full of football fans. We had a few beers while we watched the game. Of note, they have an absolutely huge menu of beers. Make sure you try some you've never had. read more

I guess this place really cleaned itself up. Lots of low reviews from the late 2010s, but I had an amazing meal and experience here. Easy to get into with plenty of seating inside and out. The food was great. Standard pub fare and delicious for what it was. Fish was crispy and tender, and the fries and rings were just as good. Nice condiments and presentation. Got out to me in a reasonable amount of time despite the crowd while still being cooked well. Live music and a nice enough atmosphere. Waitress was spectacular. Attentive, lively, and with a rare vibrant smile. Got me to try local customs and delicacies, which I loved her for. Totally made the experience and meal. We came in for a drink, an appetizer, and to listen to live music and had a good experience. I got a gin and tonic and it was solid. My friend got their specialty Jameson iced tea and loved it. We shared the nachos. They were good, but dry. Service was excellent and fast. The vibe is fun and the music was good. A bit touristy, but fun. read more

Attracted to this pub as I shared the same name Alexandre. Decent pub food with fast service. My poutine was excellent but the portion is enough for two people. The live Jazz provided a very nice environment in a very busy pub. read more

Five of us stopped here mid-afternoon for a beer and appetizer. We were seated quickly by bilingual, friendly staff, and presented an easy-to-read menu with solid wine and beer selections. If you're in the area, stop here. You won't be disappointed. read more

A million beers to choose from, and plenty of wine and cocktails as well. Service was fast, friendly, and fun. They have live music and a good bar menu. Seating is both inside and on the street as well. I highly recommend trying the smoked meat from Montreal or an interesting burger. read more

Love this place and the ambiance. Was there innswpywmber . Cool evening. Decided to have my favorite that is only the best made in Quebec. French onion soup and lovely glass of wine. Its a great place!! read more
The beer is good and there is a nice selection. The atmosphere is quintessential pub....cozy on a dreary damp day. The poutine however, was abysmal. The smoked meat on top tried to save the cold curds and fries but alas, it was a definite fail. I saw other dishes going by that looked far better. Our server was nice. read more
We popped in for a bit of an early lunch before another day of trekking around Old Quebec. We claimed a window seat so we could do some "people watching". The menu is typical pub fare, which is fine with me. When we eat at a traditional pub I like knowing what to expect. I ordered a white velvet (I love these things!) hubby ordered a coffee and got a espresso. Alrighty then. Hubby seems to have hit a culinary wall after almost a week of incredible food in Quebec. He was very happy they offered French onion soup on the menu and ordered that. He said it was very good and not too salty. He ate every bite, but stopped short of nibbling the baked-on cheese off the rim of the bowl. :D I ordered the smoked meat sandwich and for a small charge upgraded to a side truffle fries (it's not on the menu, I was just freestyling). The sandwich was very good with a bit of fat on the smoked meat tucked inside toasty bread with a smear of hot mustard. Oh yum! The truffle fries were crisp and tasty without being over-seasoned, although for the rest of the afternoon I did taste truffle oil every time I burped. Lol! The slaw was a bit of a disappointment. Shredded veg with mayo. Blah. Our waiter was really friendly and took good care of us without being too "in your face". There was a World Cup soccer game on the telly, so a few patrons were there to watch the game. There's a pretty good sized TV on the back wall of the pub which made for good viewing for everyone. Good food, good drinks, good service. Yay. read more

Had to have something to eat and drink, Just checked in to our hotel and it was after 10:00pm, not sure where to go where the kitchen is still open on a Monday night so we went into the old City and this pubs kitchen was still happening so we sat down grabbed a pint of a local Amber. What a Great beer! I had 2 more as I snacked on the cheese plate for an hr or so and was very satisfied. The live music was great and our server was very good, didn't have to wait for anything, he was always available. If you get in late I think this is a great way to start your stay in Quebec City with a Great local brew and food listening to some real live music! Only 4 stars as it was a little pricey for a pub. read more

Gord and I had supper last evening at Pub Saint-Alexandre. There were a couple guys playing inside ... they were good. We sat on the patio. We both ordered a smoked meat sandwich. Though it was good, it wasn't worth $16.95. We found the prices high here for the food and drinks. Our server was Melissa and she took good care of us. read more

My family really enjoys going into any Irish pub we come across when traveling, so it was only necessary to stop into Le Pub Saint-Alexandre. The bar is pretty large and has really neat decor. We sat at the bar which I thought was cool to look at a huge wall filled with different beer bottles and liquor. The pub also had live singing. We were entertained by a younger gentleman that was singing Robyn covers (huge fans) while drinking some delicious Irish brews. Cool spot to check out when visiting the area! read more

It's very rare that I find 3 of my favorite beers in the same place: - Kwak - St Bernardus 12 - Leffe Brune Le Pub Saint-Alexandre seems like such a weird fit - a pub in the middle of quaint idyllic Old Quebec. They have over 200 beers available, live music, and was a nice change of pace from the surrounding French and Italian restaurants. read more
Our first night in Quebec, we arrived fairly late and were craving pub fare. We found Pub St-Alexandre, touted as an "authentic English pub" just down the hill from our hotel. It hit the spot, with delicious beers, sausage, and crispy fries, er, chips. I chose the Imperiale (stout and white cheddar) and Goddfather (smoked paprika and fennel) sausages. My husband really liked their beer selection (and prices). I had a hard cider from Cidre du Minot, a Quebec cidrerie. Definitely hit the spot on a chilly, rainy night! Service was attentive, place was packed with people and bustling, no complaints. read more

This is a great Irish bar. Here's why... The place is loud, crowded and fun. If you want a place that has good food, great beer selection, and a fun vibe, this is it. Do they have amazing shrimp ceviche or escargots in white wine sauce? No. Do the servers carefully explain a long memorized list of house specials while asking if you are comfortable with still or sparkling water before placing a napkin in your lap? No. Is this a great place for a quiet, romantic evening? No. Is the chef competing for a spot on the San Pelligrino top 50? No. However, they do good bar food and serve up cold beers in a place that looks and feels like an Irish pub. Even though the place is right smack in the middle of all the tourism (and I was one), it feels like the kind of place that everyone is welcome. If you can hold off on your mental Yelp review until after you leave, and can dive in head-first into the experience, you should have a blast here. read more

I needed a beer. This place has a HUGE selection of beer. A match made in heaven, right? Well... Almost. We stopped in for a pre-dinner pint and had a great time hanging out in a cozy booth up on the second level. The beers were massively overpriced, but given the tourist-friendly location I suppose that wasn't much of a surprise. Despite the prices, we enjoyed the beer selection so much we decided to bring a large group of co-workers back after dinner. This is where things got a little weird. Four of us got there before the rest of the group and told the hostess we would need room for eight people. She sat us in a space that would not hold more than six. I noticed that the upstairs area where we'd sat earlier was completely empty, and found the hostess to ask whether we could move there. Her response was very strange - we couldn't sit there, but when the rest of our group arrived they would move us to a larger table. What?? Why not just put us at a larger table to begin with and avoid the hassle of having to switch halfway through drinks? I got the distinct impression that the snooty hostess didn't believe we actually had friends who would be joining us! Anyway, that's exactly what we did - friends showed up and started to try to pull a table over to our section; hostess interrupted and pointed us to a larger table; we had to pick up our coats, purses, drinks, etc. and carry them across the bar. A lot of disorganization which could have easily been avoided if they'd just sat us at the (empty) larger table to begin with. Very strange. Would I go back? Probably, but only for one (overpriced) drink and not with a large group. read more

What a great place to get a beer and some snacks. Me and my husband stopped in for a beer. He got the truffle fries and I got the poutine. It was delicious. Fries were cooked perfectly and the truffle fries were a perfect compliment of truffle to parmesan not over powering at all. Poutine gravy was so wonderful I could have had that all by itself. But the medley of the fries and cheese curds made it exceptional. read more
