I got married at Georgios in March, which partners with La Dolce Bakery for their cakes. I ended up upgrading to the strawberry filled cake, and I thought that upcharge fee was reasonable. I gave them an example of a cake design that they replicated well. Blanca indicated that she wouldn't be able to do the complicated lace design on buttercream, but I appreciated that they took my example and ran with it. At our cake testing, I was a little disappointed in the number of selections, but ultimately we probably would have picked the same thing. The cake was tasty at our wedding. We also tried some cannolis from there, which were good. Blanca was professional to deal with. I would recommend this bakery. read more

For the first time for as long as I can remember, there is finally a bakery in the Oak Forest/Midlothian/Crestwood area. They have the best baked goods, like an old-fashioned bakery that I was familiar with as a child in Chicago. Jose is the owner, and you just got to go in there and see what they have to offer. I really wish this experience was different being that it was for such an important and memorable moment in me and my husband's lives. I got married 06/02/18 and my reception was held at Georgio's Banquets in Orland Park. This was the bakery that they recommended so we decided to go with them as we trusted our needs would be exceeded since our experience with Georgio's had been exceptional thus far. My husband and I went to the bakery and met with Blanca for our consultation. At that time, we gave her pictures of our cake design and told her exactly what we wanted. After that, I then discussed the groom's cake and also gave her pictures and told her exactly how I wanted it. For both cakes she reassured us that she could do them and that I would be pleased. Fast forward to the reception and I'm looking at the cakes for the first time...neither looks anything like the pictures; I was so disappointed! The wedding cake was supposed to be rectangular shaped but it was round instead. The details looked nothing like the picture I had given and it looked rushed. My husband's cake was supposed to mimic his very red, nord keyboard with white cake as the flavor....the cake we received was a very black, Roland keyboard with chocolate cake, my husband hates chocolate cake....At this point I'm upset for multiple reasons but the main reason was because I felt blindsided and wished some form of communication was given to me if the cakes I wanted couldn't be created for any reason. I felt that this whole time I wasn't being heard and I don't know if it was because she was just too focused on her own wedding and her 10 tier cake that she talked immensely about at our consult, or if it was just lack of professionalism. Either way I was very displeased with the product that was given to us and left to feel like my special day wasn't taken seriously. A couple of days later my husband and I are on our honeymoon and I notice some numbers aren't adding up in my bank account. The couple days leading up to the big day was so hectic and caused me to be a little bit scattered which I'm sure happens to most of us. After going over my expenses I noticed that I accidentally sent Blanca the money I was supposed to send to my make up artist, after Blanca had already gotten paid for the cakes. Now I don't know if it's just me but if I was baker, caterer, dog walker, shoe-tier, or anyone who someone paid me for my services and this happened, I would send their money back IMMEDIATELY, no questions asked. This was obviously not the case as it was many days later in which I personally had to bring the situation up to her...this made me think "well, what would have happened had I not noticed this? Was she just gonna keep my money? Money that did NOT belong to her?" I told her it was mistake that I had made and that I needed all of my money back immediately as I was on my honeymoon and those funds were needed. She wasn't even apologetic about the situation which again made me feel like she didn't care, and her response was basically that she couldn't send the money back at that moment. I'm pretty livid at this point but still trying to keep calm as again, I was on my HONEYMOON...no one wants to deal with this kind of drama on their honeymoon after already being disappointed and let down about the service that was provided. Longer story short, she ended up sending the money back to me in "spurts" over the course of my honeymoon and once I received it all back I just wanted to cut all ties and communication from and about her; which is why I'm just now posting a review. To be clear, this post is mainly about Blanca as I can't pinpoint the exact person or baker responsible for my cake mishap but it comes down to her and her business regardless because she is to oversee all of that. The financial incident was the icing on the cake; pun intended. It showed a lack of moral character and I am honestly stunned that a said professional would behave in such a manner. To anyone thinking about this place for a wedding specifically, I'd suggest going elsewhere or sticking to one of those 1980s cake designs provided in the little book if you're into that kind of thing...maybe choosing something that wasn't in the book messed us up; who knows?! read more

-10 on the pastries. I had tried in the past and thought to give them a second try today. I bought some this morning hard as a rock! The conchas are supposed to be nice and soft. Drove over to food 4 less ( I thought it that was sacrilegious!!!) got the same pastries but soft! I would be embarrassed as a Mexican Pastry shop to be outdone by a grocery store. However, I will say the cakes at La Dolce Bakery are very good. I've had the tres leches, the oreo cakes, and flan all great. Not only are the incredible to work with the cupcakes were delicious and look just like my picture that I showed them. When I damaged the design on the way to the party I returned To the bakery and they worked diligently to get them fixed and me on my way again. They were a pleasure to work with and I was so impressed with how much help they gave me it was exactly the design and colors I had asked for! The taste of these cupcakes were amazing! If you order a cake from here it will up to your expectations and it will be fresh and yummy!! I ordered my wedding cake from here 4 months ago and it was amazing!! (5 STARS) However, if you walk in and buy one of the cakes in their display fridge be ready for it to be old, dry, brittle and for the whip cream to crumble. I was very disappointed and hurt, that they packed my daughter birthday cupcakes in a cake box, instead of a cupcake holder box, causing some cupcakes to flip. The cupcake flipped and was side by side of each other, instead of being 3 inches apart. This happen right after I left the bakery. My reception hall for my wedding uses this bakery for its cakes and I had figured that it would make my life easier to just get a cake from this bakery since it was included in my package. MAN WAS I WRONG. Blanca seems to be the only person you can talk to about flavors and designs for your wedding cake and this is very inconvenient. It was hard to get a time that was good for us to meet for taste testing and etc... when we did get together I felt rushed and like I was wasting her time. When I had my taste testing at her bakery I brought my fiancé, my fiancé's mom, myself, and my mom. Everything they tasted was not tasty at all. We had very limited options and the designs she showed me were hideous. She quoted us one thing at that visit and the next visit she up charged us for designs she told me at first were included. There are 4 people who can contest to this! For the appointment I had to finalize everything I traveled to the bakery and she wasn't even there! I found out from someone there that she was in Mexico for a funeral. I get that that is very important to attend but she also has a business she needs to run. Someone else should've been able to help me. I got no notice and was told to just come back in a couple of days. When I made another appointment and came back she was not apologetic, she was rushing me to make a decision on a design, and looked very irritated at my presence. She is unsympathetic and unprofessional. I went to the Orland Bakery and had the best experience ever!!! I went there 3 days before my wedding looking for someone to make my wedding cake for 280 people and it was a breeze! The cakes are delicious and they are professional. I had everything figured out there in an hour and fifteen minutes vs la dolce weeks and still nothing was close to being finalized. If you want beautiful and delicious cakes AND excellent customer service go to the ORLAND BAKERY!!! I will not be going to La Dolce Bakery again. read more
