This is still my source in Old Town Arvada for a good cup and some kicked back people watching. Went today but didn't have room left (having just had lunch) for one of their sticky buns. Gluttony was tempting me though. For some people maybe the shortening laden pastries from the German bakery across the street might be a better fit. For me, I don't like that filmy taste in my mouth that even a hot cup of Joe won't wash out. This place has a little of that 70's nostalgic feel that places like Common Grounds in the Highlands has but just not as old and worn. If you like modern, bright, pseudo trendy, skip going here. We went to LDV because of a Reataurant.com coupon. It's not a fancy place, which isn't a problem for us. However, inside is carpeted and appeared to be furnished with random/borderline tacky garage sale finds. I don't like carpet. There was a vacant coffee bar, so we were a little confused. But, after standing that there for a good 15 seconds, 2 people walked in... they were outside enjoying a cigarette. We ordered food and coffee (ONLY because we had to spend $15 for our coupon). My breakfast had powdered eggs - gross. My wife's contained powdered eggs and sandwich meat ham - gross. Both styrofoam containers that our food came in had pieces of dirt and animal hair. Our coffee drinks actually weren't bad. However, they were not amazing enough to make us repeat customers. The staff was very nice. So, that was nice. The establishment is in a cool location and has a lot to potential. However, it's dirty and is unkempt. Bathrooms were filthy (not that I went for the bathrooms). Sorry, LDV. I stopped by this place this morning on my way to school, I just happened to drive by it and it caught my attention. I don't feel like getting into much detail about the ambiance so I'll make a long story short about the service I received. There was one barista behind the counter, it was very busy and he seemed over whelmed which was very understanding to the fullest. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches from him and a iced coffee. When he took my order he explained multiple times that he was backed up and it was going to take awhile. This was at 9:15am. I said that is fine. Paid him & tipped him and try to be as nice and understanding as possible. About 9:30am I went in just to ask him kindly if he had an estimate of about how long. He snapped at me and said "I told you I was busy, it'll be done in a little!" I apologized and said "sorry I was just curious because I had to be at school by 10" I understand he is the only person there and is slammed but please don't be rude I wasn't being rude to you. I end up getting my food about 9:45... When he brought it out he said "Sorry about the wait, but our food is hand made not made to order!" Like obviously I realized that when I waited 30min for 2 breakfast sandwiches. By the way my school is near by and I would have totally recommend this place to all the other students if the barista actually smiled and if one of my sandwiches didn't have an EGG SHELL in it!!! I'll get a $20 breakfast elsewhere next time !! read more

La Dolce Vita serves quality craft coffees. The baristas are knowledgeable and about as friendly as local coffee shop employees get. The cafe usually has live folk music and is well decorated and has adequate seating to relax and enjoy the libations and snacks. My only wishes to see the experience improve is to see options for liquid sweeteners, ie: agave, honey, etc. and maybe some organic milk options as well. I do frequent this spot often and do appreciate that they are open on Sunday (ahem, Two Rivers). Definitely a solid cafe experience. read more

A great place to get work done with an unpretentious vibe! Being self employed and work from home, I'm always looking for good places to work. This get high marks all around. Very spacious, tons of seating, lots of electrical outlets (!!!), no annoying music. The baristas are always very welcoming and friendly. They make GREAT coffee and everything I've tried from their kitchen has been delish, esp their breakfast croissants - served piping hot (yasssss!) and they don't skimp on ingredients. And their prices make them an even greater value. They offer the typical coffeeshop sweets and pastries (many homemade). But they have a slew of sandwiches for the lunch crowd so they also have salty/crunchy snacks like Cheetos. Wish more places offered more than sweets. But this place isn't just a great mini co-work space. Its great for families and small children. Maybe its b/c they also serve ice cream and smoothies. read more

Good news, this place serves all kinds of normal milk along with soy and almond milk as the dairy alternatives! The vanilla latte is what I usually order, and it turns out great every time. This is a wonderful space to just sit in and relax. The chairs are plush and comfortable (perhaps a bit aged, but I think that adds to the charm). It's out of the way for me, but I'm willing to make the trip. Free wifi too. I think a couple groups or clubs meet there pretty often. read more

My Husband & I went here yesterday morning as I wanted to reminisce and get some espresso. I worked here over 20 years ago. I tried to talk to the red headed barista about working for Doug, the owner at the time (Doug never told me he wasn't the original owner & died some years ago by means I won't mention). He snapped at me about how Doug wasn't the original owner, Mary was and was a complete unprofessional jerk! He was really cocky and rude! I worked at this shop before that guy and know he hasn't been there for 20yrs. He was mean, rude and totally ruined my nostalgia! I just wanted to talk about old times & he just shut it down! We will never go back and I hope it closes down with one of those trendy outfits popping up. You can get better espresso at 3 other shops in Old Town Arvada anyway. I work for Miller Coors and know a WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE that frequent this area and will be sure to tell them to avoid this place! I already put it all over my social media feeds. Went in a couple of weeks ago, finally had the opportunity to log in and write a review. Sadly, our experience here was not great. The coffee was very average, I kinda wish I would of just waited to go home to drink a cup, same type of quality with Folgers; what really irritated me was the employee who "helped" us, he was very pushy, condescending and overall a douche! I love supporting local shops, especially coffee shops, but I do not support employees who act like we just interrupted their reading time. read more

What can I say? After about a half dozen visits to this shop I keep coming back. The staff is friendly and chatty. The coffee choices are vast and tasty. The food menu has some tasty treats (particularly the egg sandwich and muffins). This is not your typical Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts as they are more like home cooking than fast food. read more

I love La Dolce Vita in that it's unpretentious and comfortable. It is a bit ratty but I like it that way - mismatched furniture, etc. It's comfortable and for the most part quiet with endless broadband. All of the staff is super friendly (at least the ones I've encountered) and are usually chatty. I've only had their tea & regular coffee but don't be fooled - their food is really quite good. Deli sandwiches taste like you made them in your own kitchen fresh and they will heat up your cinnamon roll for you, which renders it a completely hot, gooey glob of heart-rate-increasing sugar dough! Sure you can get an artisan pastry across the street...for $3-$7 a pop! The price is so good here and you feel like you can just sit all day drinking refill after refill :) read more

A dictionary definition coffee house nestled in Olde Town Arvada, this place pours piping hot Coda coffee, in my opinion the best there is. The baristas are friendly, there are always books and games lying around, and typically there is a musician adding some folksy tune to the mix. I highly recommend bringing quarters so you can help yourself to some cocoa covered espresso beans while you wait for your drink. read more

The barista was incredibly nice so that was a bonus. My chai was however the worst $4 chai I have ever purchased. I ordered to go so I couldn't ask for another pump or even ask how they made their chai, but to my knowledge all I had in my cup was milk. Super weird. Because it's a small business, and normally has 1 or 2 people working in it, it's kinda slow sometimes, and you gotta wait for service, but once you get it, they are kind, and beyond accommodating. The trick to enjoying La Dolce Vita is to understand that it really isn't a coffee shop at all - it's more like a very small town that happens to serve great coffee, fresh baked pastries and outstanding sandwiches (hot tip, try the Warren). It's impossible to be a stranger after the first visit. The staff is gracious and welcoming; I can't count the number of times a barista has started preparing a drink when they recognized an approaching car or patron. LDV is also an excellent musical venue; there's always music Saturday night and Sunday mornings. You'll hear everything from smokin' blues bands to concert cellists. The bi-monthly open mic's are one of the most popular in the Denver area and attract truly fine musicians. At the same time, beginners are made to feel like super stars! Check it out. It's all about the coffee. I've had some pretty crappy lattes elsewhere at other non-Starbucks places, but this place gets it right every time. They have a really large and decent selection of syrup flavorings -- one of the reasons I come here is because it's one of the only places where I can get my coconut-macadamia nut latte. And it's freaking good. The decor is nothing special, but I truly don't mind it not being a place for the scene kids to hang out. More room for me to stretch out. read more

I suspect the employees are writing some of these positive reviews. The sandwich was tasty. It would be nice if the sandwich included a pickle spear or some chips. Café au lait was OK. Luke warm at best. One employee was sitting on the counter next to where the coffee (and food?) is prepared, talking on the phone. 3 others were counting money in the register. If you're just out to avoid Starbucks, then this is an option. Don't expect much from the frozen pastries and microwaved egg burritos. They do bake off the pastries but nothing is made from scratch here. Go across the street for a good pastry. The staff is in a big turn-over right now. the paint job easily reflects the mentatlity of this shop... functional but don't expect much. The best thing going here is the Ice cream from Liks. This place is one of my favorites. The chairs are a little worn, and the mugs dont match, that type of stuff, but the drinks are great, the people are usually very friendly. I like Starbucks for their consistency, because I will get exactly the same drink no matter what store. This place consistently makes better than I've found elsewhere.
