A new regular spot for me. It's been around for years but I finally started making this a regular walk spot. Coffee. Tea. Alternative milk. Pastries and breakfast burritos. The usual suspects but it's homey. It's not Starbucks or Dutch Bros or Dunkin. The drinks are made with love but to order fairly quickly so I really can't complain about that. Baristas are always friendly and polite. Nice foliage inside in addition to a centerpiece vinyl listening station. Good pace to be solo, to study or work, to have a date, or meet a friend before deciding wherever else you'll walk to on Tennyson. Prices are fair. Coffee and tea is good. Well worth a stop when you are on this side of Tennyson. read more

I stopped into Ten Street Coffee to work a couple hours this afternoon and fell in love with it! The vibe here is great - the plants and art give a cozy, botanical vibe to the place that's rounded out with nostalgia from the books and vintage appliances / records. It's hard not to feel at home here, and I found it super easy to be productive! The barista was very kind and made one of the best dirty chai lattes I've had in Denver! Felt like we discovered a hidden gem down the Tennyson street! This cafe is definitely a cute one that makes you feel like you're a library so it would be a solid place to study. Perhaps the barista was having a bad day, but the service could be a bit more welcoming to say the least. However, the coffee was decent. I got an iced mocha which was tasty with enough caffeine to last me for the rest of the day. I don't mind visiting in the future to try their other drinks. read more

Such friendly staff and in a great location! My go-to coffee shop order is a decaf iced americano. I wanted to love Tenn Street Coffee, but really struggled to get through my americano -- it was incredibly bitter and tasted burnt. It took a lot of mental power not to make a "yuck!" face after my first sip. I very rarely add sugar to coffee, and needed to add sugar in order to stomach my drink. I was so bummed! I am all for paper straws, but my straw completely fell apart in less than 5 minutes. We also got an almond croissant that had a nice flavor but was more like a scone and seemed a bit old. I'll give Tenn Street Coffee another shot, but will likely avoid ordering any coffee-based drinks. read more

Tenn Street Coffee is a quaint coffee shop in the NW corner of Denver. The area it's located in looks up and coming with several venues and restaurants nearby. I came here on a date to have a cup of coffee and enjoy a live band that was playing gypsy jazz. The jazz was nice, although the space was a bit small to accommodate them. People who came to hear them play were really packed in. I ordered a small cappuccino. To my disappointment, the cup felt completely empty. There were only a few sips of espresso to be had on the bottom. The rest was partially air, and partially foam. I expect to get foam with a cappuccino, but this was like I had paid for a cup of air. However, the barista was nice, the espresso that was at the bottom of my cup was bold, but not too bitter, and I enjoyed relaxing and watching the band play. If I lived in the area, it's likely I'd give Tenn Street Coffee another try, but since it's across the city for me, I probably won't be back. read more

My first visit to Tenn Street Coffee and Books! I love the design of the cafe with the selection of books and tables spaced out with outlets available for electronics. I had an iced matcha latte with oat milk and a potato and cheese breakfast burrito. I appreciated that the barista asked me if I would like the small amount of vanilla syrup in my latte which they usually add. I accepted but I appreciated being offered the choice since I sometimes opt for no sugar. My only request might be for baristas to warm burritos behind the counter perhaps in a toaster oven. My burrito was served cold on a plate and I was given the option to use the microwave to warm it. This didn't feel like a good idea to be using a community microwave during these times. Additionally, I don't use microwaves. Otherwise, the iced matcha latte with oat milk was very good and the ambiance was pleasant with the bookshelves and a huge, expansive, beautiful plant in one corner. Spencer is one the owner of this nifty, outer petite coffee shop. The inside has about 4+ rooms filled with book shelves, tables, lamps, perfect for studying. They serve Daz Bog coffee. Daz Bog is wonderful too. I tried the Japanese Sencha tea. It was a lot stronger than I imagined. Granted, I'm not a self entitled coffee drinker, or tea drinker. So I will be sticking with lattes, mocha, and green tea. YUM. They also serve from a miniature snack bar. Nude juice, water, sodas and a small bakery. The restrooms were found wiped down, smelled of air freshener and no trash anywhere. This is a good place for any bookworm like me who also loves some hot mocha. read more

I came here for a casual Sunday afternoon work session with my friend. She had raved about this place before, and I figured it was about time to check it out! The location is great- right north of 44th and Tennyson. Parking seemed to be street parking only, there is a parking lot nearby, but I would imagine that is for other businesses based on the look of it. They serve Dazbog Coffee. I ordered a Medium Americano with SF Vanilla and a splash of Almond Milk and my total was $4.05, which is a reasonable price for the area and what I got (in my opinion :) ). The baristas were very friendly. The espresso was a little more bitter than I usually like, but it was not bad by any means. I would say this is a medium sized location that had a good amount of seating- mix of tables and seats at high top bar. There were so many books and I can't wait to go back and pick one to read over another drink soon! read more

Have been going to this coffee place for a year now. Ran out of coffee at home this morning and have a brand new puppy. After 4 days of new puppy joy, I really needed coffee. I carried the pup into the shop, stood by the door and begged for a simple cup of black coffee. The barista said I could order from outside. I asked to order, pay cash and wait outside and she refused. I explained that I couldn't put the pup down as he is not fully vaccinated. The barista didn't seem to care. A nice couple offered to watch the pup while I got a cup of much-needed coffee. i understand the public health concerns but would have really appreciated a barista with a better attitude and a bit of creative problem-solving. read more

I am a huge fan of local coffee shops, the occasional cup of coffee, and mainly good tea!! This place let me down Big-Time!! I was checking out a couple spots in the up and coming neighborhood and spotted this joint and wandered in! So there is an awkward feel here--like people checking you, to see if you are part of the neighborhood or coming from the surrounding parts--I dunno, it just felt a tad weird in here. I ordered the African roobios, which is one of my favorite teas and checked the place out while I was waiting. Perks: Comps with free internet, tons of seating, and loads of books to read and chill out. So my tea was up and I grabbed it to go, took the tea bag out about 3mins later and took a sip---EWW, this was the absolute worst tea I can say I have ever tasted!! I was like old moldy water with a hint of nasty..blahhh. You may have better luck with coffee--but stay away from the tea! read more

I ran into this cute coffee house after dropping off the foster kittens for a pair of spays at Planned Pethood Plus. PPP dropoff is 7-9 AM, and I don't usually move before noon without an entire fire squad and their hoses (puns all intended) to roust me from my beauty sleep. Of course, that could be because I stay up until 3 AM Yelping. In any case, I needed a coffee, or I wasn't drivin' home without an accident! It was my barrista's first day on the job, and he was a bit confused about the menu and how to process orders, but still managed to make me a nice java chip frappe with extra whipped cream- nom nom! Too bad I had forgotten how pesky java chip is to drink- I spent half the time imitating a goldfish trying to suck out chip fragments lodged in my straw. The attached bookstore is super-duper cute, with limited but intriguing offerings in a variety of subjects. Big plus: comfy chairs, and you can take your drink in to browse! Also loved the free computer use for paying customers- not just free wifi, but free computers there, for you, to use. The only thing I have to recommend against is the food. I had a bacon breakfast burrito, which was bafflingly bland- I also had to heat it in the microwave myself. Am I the only one who thinks that if I pay almost $4 for scrambled eggs and bacon wrapped in a tortilla, I should at least get it warm? With that minor glitch aside, I loved the place and will be making a habit of stopping in anytime the kitties are getting fixed. I want to love Tenn Street Coffee, I really do. I love neighborhood coffee shops, especially those that serve tasty treats, play local music and have wifi. Like I said, I want to love this place but I don't. I will start with the positive: the burritos and tamales from La Casita are delicious, the local musicians playing in the corner are a nice touch and the cheap books could be an added bonus. On the negative: the service is dreadful. No amount of coffee, breakfast burritos or chill music can ever make up for the look of complete disinterest or, as Gitana below described, "sniggering" that one receives from the staff. Tenn street coffee didn't really blow me away, but it was not a bad choice. It's a coffee shop with a homey/neighborhood vibe, with one half of the store lined in full bookshelves. The other half of the place is a little jankier, with bare walls and a stale coat of paint, and a little bit of a not so awesome smell. There is also an interesting tree growing all the way to the ceiling in one corner of the front. One big plus of this place is the abundance of room to spread out, and outlets for all of your electronics, which can be hard to come by. They also closed at 5 on a Monday, so this is not the place for your early evening hangs. They use Dazbog coffee (not my first choice) and they've got a lot of drink choices including frappes, tea, and smoothies. They also use paper straws, which is a plus! My husband got the black coffee and I got a cold brew with some Irish cream syrup. It was not particularly cheap, and the cold brew was not particularly strong. This is a neighborhood place that is need of a little bit of a refresher, but it will get the job done. read more

I wish I could like this place... I really do. I have tried. I've filled up 2 whole frequent buyer cards! It's walkable and I love the patio seating. However, my regular order of a small nonfat latte is consistently inconsistent and blah. It's tasted burned on several occasions and half the time it's a cappuccino and the other times it's a LOT of milk with espresso. Not a latte. I was excited when I saw the sandwiches from Udi's and then disappointed when I saw the price - a good $2 more than at Vitamin Cottage. I know I have to pay for convenience but $2 more is unreasonable. The Breggos are similarly overpriced. The service is hit or miss which might also explain the inconsistent coffee prep. Some friendly people though, I just wish they could make a good latte. read more

I can't say I know the first thing about how to drink coffee, but the coffee I got was good enough for me. The scone tasted like it had been sitting around for several hours- which even the best scones are wont to do. I don't know of any other coffee shop in the world that has as many as four computers with free internet access (for paying customers), which is awesome. They also support a low-key music scene, with a family friendly show on Fridays and a couple of shows on Saturdays. Ice water is offered self-serve from a water cooler, and they sell the New York Times. In summary, they do everything a good coffee shop should do. read more

My friend bought a living social deal for cheap books at Tenn Street Coffee. She and I stopped in one Saturday so that she could cash in her coupon. I'm a sucker for used books, so I was pretty pumped. Coffee and books are usually an award winning combination! This place was not at all what I expected. There aren't many books, which is fine. But the books they do have line the walls of the coffee shop. There are tables pushed up against the book cases. So really, you have one of two options: 1.) stand over people who are sitting at a table and browse for books over their shoulder or 2.) lean over and/or climb under empty tables to search for books out of reach. It just shouldn't be that hard. I guess "books" are going out of style, especially with the ebook revolution. With that, I can understand the set up. The guys taking orders were really nice, and the space was alright, but I just wasn't in love with this coffee shop. My roommate, my brother, and I ordered bagels, and it isn't a huge deal, but they have you prepare your food yourself. This means that if anyone else is using the toaster or the microwave, you have to wait. We had a line 3 deep for the toaster, so we ended up not even eating together. Maybe invest in a multi-slot toaster or just toast them for your customers. The coffee wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything to rave about. I wish I could review higher because the employees were great, but everything else about this spot was lackluster to me. If I was in a jam, I'd probably come back, but there are so many other options in the neighborhood that I'd go elsewhere if I had a choice. read more

This place has a cozy feel without being squished together. There is plenty of space, and the tables are full of people reading and working on their computers. It has free wifi (always important) and offers open computers to use if you don't have your own. Tenn Street is packed on First Fridays, and they have quite a few events, including live music, which has never failed to be good. I haven't tried their food, but their coffee is exactly what to expect. One thing that's great is they offer real authentic English black tea- something that's hard to find here in the states, much less in Denver! So definitely bonus points for that. The 'used books' aspect is different than you would expect. I agree with Rebecca P. when she says it's not conducive to browsing. I find it does add to the atmosphere to be surrounded by books, even if I can't look through them because there are tables in front of the shelves. Plenty of outdoor seating, which is also a huge plus! They also have a program where they give away their coffee grounds for your garden or compost. I have been to this coffee shop off and on for several years now, and as anything, it waxes and wanes. Right now it seems to be dong pretty good, with speedy service and good coffee and drinks. About the only downside to this joint is the fact it is hard to browse the books when you end up leaning over a laptop user who wants to continue to work on that project that will save the world. More room would help, and if you don't want to have some large hairy man leaning over you and your laptop, well, sit on the side with no books, but then you wouldn't have a reason to bitch, would you? read more

Caught a cup this weekend, and really felt it was worth one of my random Yelps. Let me say I am Not a big Daz Bog fan, (the roast Tenn ST. brews) but I have always said - if ya can find a good barista - you can get a decent latte out of their espresso. Tenn St. not only pulled a good shot... I asked for a frothy medium latte & the gal did a perfect free pour on the milk. I'm just a snob for a latte that keeps the foam right down to the last sip, not just a rushed froth plop on top! Also the shop really is great to stop into if you need a wifi connection or even an in house computer to use. I haven't gotten to spend time in the book section, but it looks first rate and their snacks are pretty darn good too. I live in the hood, but usually brew at home... but Tenn Street is a good reminder to support your local java joint and good place to hang for a cup . read more

I'm not so much a coffee drinker. In fact, I bought my first coffee a month ago with hopes that it would wake me up a bit...it just made me sick. So when I hit up Tenn Street Coffee I grab something like the Caramel Apple Cider. Really great stuff right there! My bf gets a mocha. DazBog coffee is served along with a choice of free doggie treats, delectable brownies, breads, sandwiches, fresh fruit and burritos/tamales that are made across the street. I hear they are the best in town. The employees are always super cool, along with the patrons that visit this ideal spot to sit outside with their friendly dogs, check their email on the free computers or catch up on some reading.
