To our surprise, Old Towne Ice Cream in Rowley on Route 1 answered the phone and let us know they were open. What I love so much about this place is the variety of exotic homemade ice cream flavors they make. I love all the local favorites like Richardson's and Hodgie's, but Old Towne offers flavors you just don't find everywhere else. With my love for global cuisine and unique flavors, this place always hits the mark. On this visit, Cheryl and I tried a couple of their specialty flavors, and boy, they did not disappoint. The flavors were fresh, distinctive, and danced on the palate. If you love ice cream and want to try something a little different, take yourself over to Old Towne Ice Cream in Rowley and enjoy a sweet treat you'll be talking about long after the visit. The corn maize was fun and we managed to get through it in about 30 minutes. Met a lot of other happy walkers on the way. After that, we went to visit the goats, cows and donkeys in the field which also included a pond. It was a beautiful sunny serene afternoon with adults and children enjoying the farm and the pastoral scenery. We purchased a dozen of the delicious apple cider donuts and enjoyed some on the way home. Admission was very reasonable, $8 per adult. We also brought home a pumpkin. Plan to return to try the hay ride and Richardson's ice cream. The staff was very friendly and gladly answered any questions we had. My husband said he had never seen a cow standing in a pond before but the staff member told us that the animals enjoy the pond, especially in the hot weather. All the animals looked healthy, happy and well-fed which was a big issue for me. Great job Crescent Farms!
