Last night 7/4/26 I went to Memories first time and the last time since the new owners took over . I ordered a Oreo cookie hot fudge sundae and there was more hot fudge then ice cream if I had a table spoon of ice cream I would be surprised . There are 2 other ice cream locations in the vicinity but unfortunately they were closed they are not owned by the new owners of Memories . I will never return to Memories this will be the last time I go there. I suggest everyone try the other 2 locations because you will not be disappointed on either of the other locations . read more

Get up, grab a sweatshirt just in case, and off we go! The service is always warm, welcoming, attentive, and just overall a good energy! Be aware the flavors on their website are not necessarily accurate. We were looking forward to a couple of the signature flavors but were told at the window that the signature flavors are only available in pints. Except 2 of the signature flavors were listed on the chalkboard next to the ordering window as available for scoops. Those ones are different, apparently, don't know why. They were also out of the other 2 regular flavors we wanted. The ice cream wasn't great; it was crumbly and almost dry - which is a little baffling for ice cream. Too much hot fudge in sundae, the bottom scoop of ice cream was half melted and covered in hot fudge, as was the bottom of the cup. Prices were good, $11 for a small sundae and small cup of ice cream. And the goats looked cute. read more

we have been going to memories for years although it's been awhile. last night was the first time since the new ownership, being July 4th it was busy but the line moved quick. mom got a small hot fudge sundae and I a medium triple scoop. The girls at the window were sweet and helpful. The ice cream has the smallest portions in the area, getting a triple scoop I planned to have enough for 2 days but I easily finished it, maybe because half of it was melted after being in freezer for a few hours. read more

We both ordered vanilla ice cream: mine was served correctly, while my husband's -- vanilla with chocolate sprinkles and a medium-sized waffle cone on top. Instead of vanilla, he was given vanilla mixed with chocolate. He politely asked to have it remade. The server brought back plain chocolate ice cream. When he clarified again that he had ordered vanilla, she took it back with visible annoyance and returned with vanilla, but without the waffle cone. When he asked for the cone, she took it, held it by the base, and ran the top across a dirty table before handing it to him. Needless to say, that cone went straight into the trash. Another staff member apologized and brought a clean cone, but the impression was already ruined. My husband was treated with extreme carelessness and rudeness. Enjoying the ice cream was impossible as the mood was already spoiled. The ice cream itself is fine, but the service is simply awful. If you don't want to get terrible emotions for your own money, I do not recommend visiting this place to avoid such situations. read more

We have eaten at Memories for years and I do love ice cream. Last night we went and I sampled my favorite, Mocha Chip. Unfortunately, the flavor is now more coffee forward and not the original mocha goodness as in the past. So I decided to try the double fudge brownie and mint chip. The mint chip was fine and the chocolate ice cream was okay but I only had one chunk of brownie in my serving. This was the case for another person in our group. Each person in our group ordered the same size and there was a differential in servings. I hope the new ownership will look at the quality control and if this is the way to increase profits, I will not be making the drive to Kingston to go to what was my favorite ice cream shop! read more

Have been a loyal customer for years under the original ownership, no better ice cream ever produced. The company was sold to new owners a few months ago and after buying ice cream there today I will never come back. The strawberry ice cream looks fake, bright bubble gum pink, taste fake, added coloring, not at all creamy. Too much fake sugar! You can tell right away additives and lesser grade cream etc. are now produced from this new, cheap version of the original. Terrible after taste. They have ruined the stella reputation of the original company by cheapening the ingredients. I never post reviews. However, after my third disappointing visit since the new owners purchased Memories, I felt obligated. The owners of Lexi's should have stuck with hamburgers and fries because they ruined the best ice stand in the area. The quality of the ice cream has been reduced. I agree with others who stated the ice cream is no longer as creamy as it was. Was the butter fat reduced ? Also, in the past, every spoonful was filled with chocolate chips, cookie dough, brownies, nuts, toppings, etc. Now you have to search for them. The owners should look at what happened to Charley's ice cream. They tried to sell cheap ice cream as premium. They went out of business. Memories flavor selection has been reduced as well and there were no specials yesterday on a Friday. Don't waste your money. Go to Stilwell's in downtown Exeter. They aren't as good as the old Memories but they are much better than the new Memories. read more

I live about a mile from Memories ice cream. I've been going there with my family for years. I almost always order the purple cow. I was very disappointed this evening as I really had to search hard for a single piece of chocolate. Someone else in our party had a similar experience with a different flavor. My wife always had gotten cotton candy ice cream and we drove a ways to get there passing on dessert at the restaurant we actually ate at. Dawn and her team at Memories catered my wedding in October 2020. This was the BEST part of the wedding and really gave it a special touch! We did a full Sundae bar with their team serving and scooping. We had 12 FLAVORS!!! We had a smaller wedding (about 65), but honestly, the catering was a great price for the amount of ice cream we received. Guests had massive servings and the ice cream was so creamy and good, it also got people up and out of their seats. Dawn was also so flexible with all that was going on in the world and was able to roll with any changes that happened. I would recommend for any larger event, as they did a great job and the ice cream was soooooo much better than traditional cake! read more

We were out at Apple Annie up the road for apples, unpasteurized cider, and apple cider doughnuts. We also were enjoying the beautiful fall foliage and decided we needed a an ice cream break. We have driven by Memories over well over a decade and never stopped. Today (Sunday 10/16/16) was their last day of the season and there was a long line. A huge list of custom flavors, however many had run out- they were also selling off 1/2 gallons of ice cream for $5 a bucket! WOW! Very large portions so come hungary or order extra small. read more

I ordered a dozen ice cream sandwiches for my dad's 84th birthday. I was able to select from the various cookie options and selected six different ice cream flavors. The ice cream sandwiches were packaged in a freezer bag with ribbons tied to it. My dad was floored! First off the ice cream sandwiches are huge. Each sandwich had a happy birthday sticker along with the cookie and ice cream flavor. I love memories. Memories nails some of the flavors that other places fall totally flat on. I love banana ice cream, and Memories' bananas foster is pretty great. I tried the peanut butter ice cream last visit and was also done really well. Not overly peanut buttery/sweet, Its light enough that you don't feel sick after eating more than a tiny scoop. Plus their homemade waffle cones are wicked good. Having grown up in Amesbury I recognize that some might see this as blasphemy that I don't sing the praises of Hodgies over all else. Don't get me wrong I love Hodgies and Hodgies has its place in the ice cream world, the nostalgia, the comically large sizes, and depending on who is working , a really solid New England style frappe. But if you want ice cream in it's true form, My recommendation is Memories any day. read more

A friend who lives in the area had told us about Memories and we were in the area so decided to stop in on a Monday afternoon on a long holiday weekend The line was down the steps but it moved very quickly because the young ladies who were working were very efficient, not to mention friendly. Hubby and I decided to each have the extra small in a sugar cone. He, his standby flavor of strawberry and me, the kahlua brownie. I'm "sold" with almost any flavor containing brownie pieces. One young lady took the order, wrote it on a notepad and collected the money while the other one actually scoop the ice cream. So much more efficient than other ice cream shops plus a lot easier for the customer who doesn't have to juggle holding a cone while handling money. Wish all ice cream stands did this. One bite and hubby said it was the best he's ever had. One lick of mine and I could taste the kahlua; however, after a few more licks and bites I realized they gave me kahlua chip vs kahlua brownie. A little disappointed because I was really looking forward to having brownie pieces but the line grew long again so I didn't want to have to return to the window so kept it. Not as creamy as some I've had before but a solid 4 star. Would stop again if in the area. Very beautiful, country, farm stand setting. Reasonably priced as well, $7 for two XS which were very generous in size. read more

Just read review on here that there were vegan options and immediately checked the hours, how great is it that they're open till 10 on a Sunday? No place in Exeter is open that late! So my husband and I got in the car and went down, and were excited to see there were actually 4 options- vanilla, chocolate, mint and blueberry. The mint and chocolate go super well together. I asked the girl at the window if she knew if any of the cones were vegan but unfortunately she didn't, I'd love to be able to get that answer! Memories is what I compare all ice cream to as an adult. My family used to stop here on our way to the beach in the summer. Their serving sizes are HUGE and they have great flavors. They usually have banana, which is my dad's favorite. You would be surprised how hard it is to find plain banana ice cream these days. The ice cream fad right now is putting a million things in your ice cream to make up for its low-quality (*cough*Cold Stone*cough*). It is nice to have a place like Memories that makes honestly good, simple ice cream. Also, there is something comforting about being able to watch the cows whose milk you are consuming lazily wander around the farm in the back, eating grass. That's how life should be, no? read more

Holy Cow! Memories gives HUGE portions! I ordered a 3 scoop ice cream cone, and the amount of ice cream was literally, a PINT. I needed to ask for a cup because there was no way in hell I was going to be able to keep that cone under wraps with just my mouth. Spoon and cup needed, for sure. They are a bit on the pricey side (for my husband, my daugther and myself) the total came to $15, but if youre a big fan of ice cream and cant get enough, its well worth it. The place is adorable, an old farm - modernized and very well kept. A few farm animals out back for the kids, as well as several picnic tables. Memories must bring in a killing with all the ice cream they sell at those prices. And the ice cream is awesome to boot! read more
