The teachers at the infant class are very patient and attend to the needs of each baby. For a first time mom, this is extremely important (it's not easy to entrust anyone with my daughter at the beginning). We set up multiple appointments around the area and visited several daycares, both expensive and lower-end daycares, and felt they were all missing something; they were either sterile or lacking a creative vibe we were looking for our child. As soon as we booked a walk-thru at Mi Escuelita, we knew it was the daycare for us. It felt like the perfect home- a space with a positive vibe, filled with art and happy children. The daycare is also in a brownstone with a beautiful private garden. Although our daughter has only been attending for 3 months (as she turned two late in the year), she has already accelerated development skills such as talking/singing/ counting, sharing, and being attentive to other children. She also now loves to paint and draw at home in her free time. We have discovered a fantastic community at the school, not only with the children but with the lovely parents whose educational needs aligned with ours. We see him on a similar path to our daughter, and are excited to watch him continue creating his own path. POTA is a great combination of cultural and educational learning. We were slightly concerned there would be too much religious emphasis, which was different from how we grew up, but that has not been the case. Their focus is on the meaning of those cultural learnings and less about the religious definitions.

I truly appreciate their dedication. I also want to recognize Sajida, who was always welcoming and kind. Unfortunately, that level of care did not feel consistent throughout the school. In my experience, the center director Ms Set was difficult to communicate with. There were times when I felt my concerns were not taken seriously, which left me feeling unheard. My daughter also shared that she sometimes felt certain staff members were overly harsh with her. I was also concerned by incidents involving children pushing or shoving one another, and I did not always feel those situations were addressed as thoroughly as I expected. The classrooms themselves were cared for by the teachers, who I often saw wiping tables and mopping floors. However, the overall building did not appear to be maintained to the same standard. During my visits, I noticed dust buildup around the air vents and felt the facility could benefit from more thorough routine cleaning and maintenance. Given how easily illnesses spread among young children, this was disappointing. Another concern was the frequent staff turnover. It seemed like there were constantly new faces, making it difficult to feel there was consistency in my child's care. At times, some classrooms also appeared to be led by very young staff members, which made me question the level of experience available. Finally, I attended the recent graduation ceremony and personally felt the Hollywood theme was NOT the best choice for an early childhood celebration. A bit inappropriate if you ask me. Overall, this center was not the right fit for our family. For the tuition being charged, I believe there are cleaner, more modern centers with stronger communication and greater consistency. If you have a child who doesn't move or speak, maybe this place is fine, but for my active son, paying over $1800 a month feels like throwing money away for a daycare that seems clueless about how to manage a child. After two consecutive days on 5/27--telling me I had half an hour to pick him up because he was climbing on furniture, which is typical kid behavior. I had to pull him out. My 18-month-old son faced discrimination from both the director and the regional director because of his special needs--he has a speech delay and is already receiving early intervention. When I took my first tour on 1/23, I explained all of my son's needs in great detail, and Victoria assured me that there would be no problem, that it was normal for his age. On the second tour on 3/11 with Rosie, I reiterated my son's needs, and once again, they said it was normal. Even uploaded and provided my son early intervention evaluation But when he started on 4/1, I received constant complaints. I was called on 4/3, 4/7, and 4/14 about minor incidents like biting another child, without anyone witnessing what actually happened. On 4/16, they reported he was running around and tried to bite a teacher's finger, and on 4/23, he hurt himself by slipping. Then on 5/5, he bit another child again without anyone clarifying the situation. That same day, they told me he put his hand in the toilet. This center has cornered me into providing documentation from doctors who have no clue what they're being asked for, since it's inappropriate for his age. They don't work with parents to help teach the kids; it's incredibly frustrating. Also when stuff happens to my son no report was given nor anyone knew what happened. Requested report from manager and still nothing.
