I was going to…read moreone in SW Atlanta and although my barber was good the criminal activity taking place was a little too much to handle. I've seen Superstar Barbershop in the Northlake Mall a few times so I decided to stop in. The place has a nice layout, but the haircut was one of the worst I've ever had. I walked into the establishment and one of the free barbers walks me to his station. This was the FIRST sign that something bad was about to happen, because the majority of the barbers were stationed in the front of the shop, but his station was WAY in the back. If you know black barbershops, you know that the barber in the back is either an old man, brand new to the shop or just plain bad, but since this is a barbershop in Atlanta, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. I told him what I wanted (low, and even with facial hair trimming), but when he was done I looked like an extra from an early episode of Martin. He didn't touch the top of my hair at all (and I hadn't had a haircut in 3 weeks), I had almost a bald fade on the side, and a jagged edge in the front (jagged edge is not a new haircut style that is referencing the R&B singing group, it is a messed up, slanted, squiggly hair line) He then proceeds to tell me that I can take care of my facial hair at home. Ummmm.... If I wanted to take care of it at home I wouldn't have asked YOU to do it!!! So, I pretty much had to coach him through the necessary steps to salvage the haircut, and I told him I would only pay 1/2 the price of the haircut since it was so bad. When I go to the counter to pay the guy has the nerve to give me his card so that I can come back to him........Really?? I TRULY do not understand how someone is giving out bad haircuts in ATLANTA GA!?! I thought this was the black barbershop capital of the world! If you go to this shop, I recommend someone refer you to a specific barber, because the dude I had was really bad. The first time, I came away quite pleased, with a flattering skin fade and beard trim. The second, I gave the same directions but didn't really oversee the process, and the result wasn't what I'd hoped for. My fault, admittedly, but when I feel like I can delegate, sometimes I check out, and I wound up with a bit of a misadventure as a result, trying to fix my beard within a few weeks (and ultimately making the mistake of trimming the entire thing down and rediscovering my weak/double chin). The price is good - $25 for a cut - and like I said, the first time, which was closely supervised, I was pleased. The vibe is decidedly MAGA. An American flag by the door, wall decor, workers and clientele. I'm not overly uncomfortable with that, but it bears saying for those who might be put off. One big positive: it's right next to Dandy Donuts, which is a gem.

Highly skilled, talented and fun Barbers, who are sure to make your day. It's an energetic but sophisticated shop. The music varies from old school to hip-hop and the children are treated with such care. Everyone is full of smiles as they leave. They have an efficient booking system and you will exit looking far better than you did when you came in! They've been in the business for over 20 years and serve many celebrities with ease. I love the shampoo experience and the luxurious head massage was such a treat as well as a huge stress reliever. Though I wanted it to be a bit quieter at times, I highly recommend.

From the moment I walked in, the shop had a welcoming, relaxed vibe and everyone was friendly and professional. Helene is amazing. She really takes the time to understand what you want and pays attention to every detail. I never felt rushed, and she made sure the cut worked well with my style and face shape. You can tell she really cares about her craft and about making sure her clients leave happy. My haircut came out clean, sharp, and exactly what I was hoping for.
