Porkchops is the men's parlor attached to Melrose and McQueen. I did not get a hair cut here but I have to live with the man who did. My husband was able to make a last minute appointment this afternoon with Trish(?). Overall the appointment took about 30 minutes. Porkchops has a fully stocked bar and offers a complimentary drink- definitely a win. His only complaint is that the chairs do not face the mirror so your haircut is a surprise for you in the end. Luckily, the haircut turned out well--- they understood his very specific instructions of "I want one haircut please." Of note, the mens haircut is $35. read more

That was one of my most enjoyable haircuts I've ever had and I dread getting haircuts. The atmosphere was fantastic. The music selection was very nice and everyone there was super nice. I've been getting my hair cut here for over 2 years now, and I can say with confidence that this is the best barber shop for the money in ATL. My barber Jason is the coolest dude ever, and the man can craft a hair masterpiece in 30 minutes flat. The sign up board used to be first come, first serve, which was fun. However, since the shop has grown in popularity they've implemented a process for signing up for an appointment ahead of time. I recommend calling and talking to whoever is working there, they've always got someone on the line! I've had my hair cut by almost everyone who works there, so I know that each of them are super solid but have their own style. TLDR; ~$30 for a slick cut, rinse, and styling is a bargain when compared to other crappier barber shops around. These people are the bomb, and they're friendly to boot! read more

So grateful that the kind folks at PRKCHPS were able to get us in right before they closed. First of all, super cool laid back spot with a vintage eclectic vibe. Secondly, there's a BAR with BOOZE. I'm only giving an OK because the lady who cut my hair was nice. The haircut looked good in the mirror from 5 feet away, but when I got home I noticed back of head was patchy as hell, had to buzz it myself to fix it. Neck wasn't shaved either, had long hair all over the place. Same with sideburns and a bit on the temple. This is the result of a 5 minute haircut. When you charge the absurd price you guys do the customer should be made to feel like they got their moneys worth. I feel like I got shafted. $45 was the total, that should result in a 30 minute cut with a hot towel and a shoulder massage. This place has zero right calling itself a barber shop. read more

I got a haircut here, which turned out nice. My only problem with this place is that their American flag is touching the ground which is disrespectful. I told the person working behind the bar, and they said something to the effect of "we don't care, or we don't mind disrespecting the flag." I tried to email the manager, and then waited a week with no response. I sent the same message to their Instagram, also no response. I did not want to make this public, but it just bothers me that they are disrespecting the flag so that they can cover a doorway or whatever they have behind it. My only request is that they raise the flag off of the ground. read more

Having gotten my haircut here (or the adjacent Melrose & McQueen) for about 5 years, I'm finally saying goodbye to off and on decent/good/bad/varying cuts after their enforcement of a unique 7-minute late, they-can-reschedule-you policy. I was 7 minutes late one Friday afternoon and my hairstylist was clearly not working then or after my scheduled appointment (there's a chalkboard at the front of the shop, BREAK was written after my time slot), and it certainly seemed like they were drinking margaritas. I've been asked to wait for them up to 15 minutes before, as well, and parking really sucks there; there have been times I've looked for a spot for 5-7 minutes. But being asked to reschedule wasn't what irked me; I actually respect the policy and understand the motives of keeping clients on a schedule. Even though seven minutes is a pretty exact, strict-for-Atlanta-traffic amount of time, what DID rub me the wrong way was while the receptionist is trying to reschedule me, we are interrupted by another stylist (who exited the back room with the person who was going to cut my hair, now just wandering around her chair) who asks the front desk person, "Excuse me, but when you have a chance can you get me a margarita?" It certainly seemed like my MAYBE 7 minute lateness was their license to not take another client, nor to put their work schedule behind, but rather to have drinks. Maybe that's not who the drink was for, maybe there was some other situation that I don't know about, but that's how it was perceived by me based on what was communicated. But anyways, the music always sucked in there, most situations in there have seemed to be in the "trying too hard" vein, and the complimentary drink isn't worth the overpriced haircut. This place is a home run. Chelsea is the mvp of this arena. Fore-get any other barber, Porkchops is a slam dunk. They jump all hurdles for you and vault into your heart. Stopped in to get a haircut and was taken care of by Trish. Im from out town so getting a good quality haircut from someone your not used to is sometimes difficult. Walked in off the street for an impromptu trim. Jason sat me down and gave me a great hair and beard trim. I was really impressed with the friendly customer service and the quality of the trim. Great smelling products, warm towels, and a clean straight razor. This was probably my favorite barber experience and will most definitely be a return customer. read more

This is a great place to get a good mens haircut by a professional stylist at an affordable price. No appointment necessary, just drop in, write your name on the chalk board, and order a drink at the bar. I think its a flat $35 for a mens cut. So far Rocky has been the best, although they've all been great. It's also great people watching with all the hipsters in there. read more

Laid back atmosphere in the shop, and the employees each offered me a beverage as I was waiting, which I really appreciated. I went to prkchps looking forward to experiencing a hair cut and a shave in comfort maybe even a drink. The owner is cool but the customer service was awful. The owner and manager where not there that night I had met the owner nights before. The lady behind the bar got mad when I asked for a host cut at 645 they close at 7. She huffed when I asked for a haircut then took two minutes to finish her text before lecturing me about showing up 15 minutes before they close. I declined a haircut and asked the receptionist for the manager. I was informed there was none but to call back tomorrow. I have called 4 days in a row and "Cory" the manager is never in so they say. I am extremly disappoint with my experience. read more
