The service was nice and fast, the setting a typical Mexican restaurant with ample seating. Now the food was decent, however lacked flavor. The salsa was bland/watery and the sauce and beans taste like it was from a can. I would give it another try if I just want a tostada

I ordered a shrimp cocktail which simply by its looks it was amazing. And it was delicious! Plenty of avocado and tasty flavor. Not hot nor sweet. Service was quick even though we were a large party. The music in the background was cheerful and lively. I liked this place!

Food was great. Portions were huge! I got a top shelf margarita and it was perfect. Staff is always very welcoming and friendly too!

La Fiesta was close to the hotel I was staying and decided to try it out for dinner. Plenty of Parking and inside has a nice size bar and full customer seating areas. Server and service was good. Started with the chips and salsa as I browsed the menu. The menu looks amazing with tons of options. I went with the Steak Street Tacos A La Grill ($12.99). Three soft shell corn tortillas (corn served with rice, beans, cilantro, onions, lime and tomatillo sauce. They were a good choice and took one back to the hotel as I could finish it all. Restaurant was clean and full of color. Good service and good food. Would eat here again if I was passing through the area again.

    A half eaten order.

First, the menu is huge, as in tons of choices to try. I'm not knocking it one bit, but it would take years to try it all. I had the Chori-pollo dinner. A nicely grilled flattened chicken breast marinated in adobo sauce with chorizo on top of it. The chicken was nicely seared and had a firm texture to it. The refried beans were silky with melted white cheese on them. The rice was done perfectly and had good flavor. The chicken was easy to cut and thin enough to get bites of everything with it. The plate was hot and it kept the food hot. The spice level wasn't real high, so I asked for Tapatio or something similar. Melissa told me they had their own hot sauces, and brought both. They had different flavors and were pretty damn hot, certainly too much for the weak. This dish was so good, I wanted a taste before I took a pic. Well, one bite turned to two, then three. Sorry most of the food is gone in the pic. The best meal I have ever had at a sit down Mexican Restaurant. Melissa was a great server.

I was told this is the best Mexican restaurant in Toledo. I'll need to try it a few more times and try different menu items to determine that. I got the chicken mole. The mole sauce was pretty good and actually seemed homemade (lol on restaurant I went to literally tasted like the Doña Maria brand you can buy at groceries). It was a large portion of chicken with rice and retried beans. The rice was average - like good! But nothing outstanding. It comes with three tortillas and a side of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes & onions, and guacamole / but this is super small portion. What's cool is you can get margaritas to go! Sadly it was very little tequila and not high quality / very sugary, lots of syrup. I'm sure if you ordered a top shelf margarita that would be good, just don't get the regular one. Super quick - an early dinner order was done within 15 min.

Great service, tasty, filling food and clean environment! The margarita was strong and you could taste the tequila. Nothing more to ask for. Fair prices too!

This is across the street from my usual Hampton Inn camping spot. Tonight is my first stop here after a 14 hr drive from home. Having special of 3 chicken tacos, and ask 2 fried jalapeños, and a large Blue Moon tap beer. Nice setting here and friendly people all. And all is excellent!!

Soggy nachos supremos that were supposed to be "easy on the beans" but they decided to do the opposite and dump a bunch on there.
    Mandi M.

They messed up my order and so I complained about it. They remade the order but out of spite they put extra, extra beans even though I requested it to be light on beans. Everything was soggy and gross. I threw it all away.

Pulling up, the patio was packed! (weather is beautiful today that's why.) so when I parked, I was shocked the inside wasn't busier?! Anyway, the hostess was fabulous. She showed me the salsa bar and seated me near the bar with a menu. I realized they serve a lot of food here, so I went with the two (beef) taco combo that came with rice and beans. I spent the extra $2 and got it with tomatoes, sour cream and lettuce. The food was good and drinks were always full. I will say, they sure do love upcharging here. A lot. I was surprised. I guess that's where we're at with dining out these days, so I can't blame them. But not only did I have to pay the extra $2 for toppings, but they also charged me an extra $1.50 for soft taco shells and then a 3% credit card fee for using my card. *sighs* my bill was $24 and change before tip. Ouch. For two tacos, rice and beans with a soft drink. Anyway, I really did enjoy my time here and they have a decent selection of drinks here as well. I didn't order anything from the bar, but would return in the future when in the area.

Had a strawberry margarita that the bartender went around the rear of the bar to make. Weird but it tasted pretty good. The bartenders/servers were all friendly but not especially helpful. Just kept saying everything is good. Everything is good. Went basic n got small queso and a chicken quesadilla. My girl got a fajita, tamale, n rice n beans. Pretty good chips for the queso. Quesadilla was ok. My girl raved over the tamales n she even ordered a few to go. So ordered another round while we wait. Now this margarita tasted like straight margarita mix. Yuck. I was straight sober after 2. Later that evening my girl texts me she been on the toilet all evening. Change of shift comes and the bartenders mention happy hr. No mention of this when we arrived or anything. I didn't see anything on the menu about it or their website. I didn't order anything else at that point. New bartender that comes in around 3, not so friendly and puts reserved signs at the bar to save seats for her girls. Never seen this at a Mexican restaurant before but whatever. She seemed to go out of her way to NOT be friendly. Counted as a one off til I went back a few more times. Same bartender complaining about folks coming in an hour before closing, still unfriendly. Still for me, the food is just eh. Maybe its just the chicken that's not great because my man came n enjoyed some quesabirria tacos while I picked at a chicken taco. Don't recommend the margarita unless u pay extra for freshly made or better yet wait for Fronteras Mexican restaurant to open back up. I like friendly bartenders n good chicken. Average here.

She definietly was a big part of how great our experience was. The place was colorful and full of life which I loved. The "Steak a La Mexicana" was sensational, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the flavors were amazing. I requested the vegetables to be kept crunchy and they were perfect. They also give you large portion sizes of the beans, rice and salad all alongside a NY strip for only $17. Crazy good deal. We tried the Birria as that is what they seem to be known for and it was amazing and the consume was sensational, we asked for a side of it togo and we dipped everything in it. The arroz con pollo, wet burrito, and chips salsa/queso were all great as well. Everything was seasoned great and the refried beans and rice were awesome. At first glance, I wasn't sure if it was a takeout place or a restaurant, but I could see it was a dine-in restaurant upon entering. The ambiance is rather dark but with a pleasant atmosphere with colorful decor. I was surprised that there weren't more people there at prime lunch time. I was promptly seated and served with tortilla chips and salsa while I reviewed the menu. The chips were thicker than I prefer and the salsa was rather thin/watery for my taste. The flavor of the salsa, however, was good. I ordered the lunch "Special Burrito" with shredded chicken and guacamole salad. It was promptly served. I would have preferred an entree with beans and rice but my server informed me that the beans were fried in lard; I'm not a fan of lard and there were no other bean options. The chicken burrito was decent and the guacamole was fresh. The fresh guacamole was the best part. I added some of the watery salsa to give the dish more flavor, but it mixed with the watery bland creamy red sauce that was already part of the burrito. It wasn't bad aside from the watery texture but definitely nothing I would crave. It was a fairly quick lunch that cost approximately $7.50 (only water as a beverage) before tip. I might stop in again if in the area, but might also keep driving. I've posted a picture of my lunch below.

https://www.facebook.com/BaldWhiteGuyReviews…read more One request: "Come get me and I want Mexican." Empty nesting is hard, guys. So naturally, we caved, loaded up ole red, and headed north. We did a quick search and landed on Cocina de Carlos in Perrysburg, Ohio. Now, let's be real, Mexican food has basically taken over America at this point. Honestly, I'm all for embracing our new cultural diversity... just as long as it keeps coming smothered in melted queso and backed by free-market capitalism. The place is decorated pretty much exactly like every other Mexican restaurant you've ever been to, and the menu is your typical Americanized festive lineup: tacos, fajita, enchiladas, burritos, oh and cheese sauce. But then something at the top of the menu caught my eye. One of "Carlos' Top 20" dishes: The Pineapple Don Charly. I'm not sure who Don Charly is, but you had me at Pineapple. It's half of a ripe pineapple, hollowed out and filled with mushrooms, onions, pineapple chunks, and baked with cheese on top. There are a few varieties, but I landed on the Mango-Bacon. Um, what? Yes please. It came loaded with 12 jumbo shrimp, bacon, and mango chorizo (and we all know how much I love chorizo) completely covered in cheese. It came with tortillas, rice, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, and beans (could have honestly done without the beans, but whatever). Look at this absolute beast of a meal. It was AMAZING. Not for a light eater, folks. I made several soft tacos out of it and left completely stuffed. But... here comes the drama. Out of all those beautiful shrimp, about 4 or 5 of them were NOT peeled. I'm sorry, but what kind of communist serves shrimp unpeeled?! Seriously, making me do manual labor for my seafood? Unbelievable. Despite the shrimp shell conspiracy, it looked great, tasted great, and made for an awesome picture. The half-pineapple is a huge flex for presentation, and I love pineapple. The prices weren't bad at all, either. You can see on the receipt in that this massive dish was only $22. For the sheer amount of food you get, I didn't think that was a bad price at all in today's economy. Overall, this place is pretty much like all the other Mexican spots, but I'm giving it a solid rating just for the killer presentation of my dish. ‍‍‍‍ 4 out of 5 Bald Heads (Peel ALL the shrimp and it would have been a 5 of 5). If you're ever up in Perrysburg, stop by and give this dish a try!
