3.5 but rounded up. Nice little place with good Mexican cuisine. Came here after driving 9 hours from Jax. Was close to the hotel I'm staying at. Got seated after waiting a couple of minutes. Got the usual chips n salsa right after sitting down. Chips were warm and the salsa was decent. Ordered the Combo Dinner which comes with Fried Burrito & Enchilada topped with queso, served with rice & beans. Order came out fairly quick, the fried burrito had a nice crunch on the first 2-3 bites but got soft under the queso pretty quick, meat filling tasted okay. Same on the enchilada. Rice & beans tasted okay too, nothing special. I do have to mention that the serving portion was pretty good size. Service was average, not bad but not great. Would come back again if I'm craving Mexican food while in Demopolis.

Authentic Mexican tacos on the menu now!

Love it!!! They do my food correctly every time. Never had any problems with them. I try and get some every chance I get! Also, they added authentic Mexican tacos to their menu and they are AMAZING!!!! A must have!! Gave them 4 stars because they can get a bit expensive and they are closed partway thru the day during the weekdays.

    The main area was nice.

Started bad when they seated me next to the nasty bathrooms and never recovered. The chicken chimichanga was the highlight. The beef and shrimp were awful. I couldn't recommend this place.

    Nice desert. Fried Ice Cream.

My boyfriend got the enchiladas, and he said they were pretty good as well.

This is your first sign that something is amiss. You're hungry so you overlook the fact that the chips are from a bag and the salsa tastes just like Pace Picante salsa. (note: neither are made in the restaurant.) You look at the menu and all the choices. You choose something basic like say... a beef enchilada and beef hard taco. The meal shows up quick enough but it doesn't look very appetizing. You then notice, there's no hot sauce (Cholula or Tapatio) at the table. Weird but you move on. You take your first bite of the beans & rice and think, this is good beans/rice. Then... you take your first bite of the taco OR enchilada and the wheels come off the wagon. Once again, store bought. Every single thing on your plate is from a can or from a store bought package. The taco shells are from El Paso or even Taco Bell. The corn tortilla on the enchilada is NOT even warmed up... it is raw and from the store. The meat is this bizarre mash of ground beef(?) that seems to common in Alabama Mexican restaurants. Just gross and tasteless. Once again seemingly right from Taco Bell. When the waiter stated (rather than asked), "everything was good" we looked at him in disbelief and the Mrs says "no, everything was not good. Everything was store bought. Not one thing on that plate was made by hand here in the restaurant. I know, I am Mexican and this is NOT Mexican food." The waiter stood there is disbelief giving us a sideways glance but he never denied it. He just said thank you for coming in and left with our plates. Now you regret coming to Las Fuentas Mexican Restaurant because you could have gotten better food from Taco Bell for about the same price. Go somewhere else.
