When you walk into this restaurant, you are greeted with a very colorful and inviting vibe. You start thinking, this is going to be good. Out comes the menu and some chips & salsa. This is your first sign that something is amiss. You're hungry so you overlook the fact that the chips are from a bag and the salsa tastes just like Pace Picante salsa. (note: neither are made in the restaurant.) You look at the menu and all the choices. You choose something basic like say... a beef enchilada and beef hard taco. The meal shows up quick enough but it doesn't look very appetizing. You then notice, there's no hot sauce (Cholula or Tapatio) at the table. Weird but you move on. You take your first bite of the beans & rice and think, this is good beans/rice. Then... you take your first bite of the taco OR enchilada and the wheels come off the wagon. Once again, store bought. Every single thing on your plate is from a can or from a store bought package. The taco shells are from El Paso or even Taco Bell. The corn tortilla on the enchilada is NOT even warmed up... it is raw and from the store. The meat is this bizarre mash of ground beef(?) that seems to common in Alabama Mexican restaurants. Just gross and tasteless. Once again seemingly right from Taco Bell. When the waiter stated (rather than asked), "everything was good" we looked at him in disbelief and the Mrs says "no, everything was not good. Everything was store bought. Not one thing on that plate was made by hand here in the restaurant. I know, I am Mexican and this is NOT Mexican food." The waiter stood there is disbelief giving us a sideways glance but he never denied it. He just said thank you for coming in and left with our plates. Now you regret coming to Las Fuentas Mexican Restaurant because you could have gotten better food from Taco Bell for about the same price. Go somewhere else. read more

The restaurant ambience was a typical TexMex.... The service was average and the food was subpar. in my opinion, the menu was absolutely too large and to charge 3.99% when using a card is absurd. And what Mexican restaurant doesn't serve refried beans with your food ? Why do I have to pay $4.99 à la carte for a side of beans?! When you don't have options, you think trash is good.... I will never be back in Dannapolis Alabama again! I can't wait to get back to Las Vegas..... and everyone says the south has the best food.... Liar.!!!! read more

I try to always stop when in town. The food is always good. The service this evening was not the best but I did have a full beer. Plus I was eating. I'm sure I looked pretty content. In addition, I'm not from here and I'm sure it showed as well too. I've tried a few entrees here and I have never been disappointed. Tonight I went with the Pollo Asada. The special salad was pickled peppers (maybe?) on a bed of shredded lettuce. I would not have chosen myself but was pleasantly surprised with the unique flavor. It nicely complimented the chicken, rice and beans. I arrived at 6:30 and it wasn't too busy. A hour later the locals started rolling in. I am sure this is "THE" place to unwind after a long day. A full bar, great prices on their cold draft beer (domestic and import) and delicious salsa would bring me in often too! I definitely recommend Las Fuentes it will always be a go to while in Demopolis! read more

I'm sorry to give my first one star review, but this is absolutely the WORST Mexican food (or any food, for that matter) we've ever had. We only came here because Demopolis town has very few restaurants open The only part of our meal that was decent was the chips and salsa. We both ordered stuffed poblano peppers, They were deep fried, and filled with a processed, gooey, thin "cheese" flavored substance, with a few flecks of spinach. Also ordered a "margarita" which was obviously made from a cheap mix, and tasted old. I didn't taste any alcohol in the three sips I managed to get down. The positives? We had a sweet server, and we didn't have to do dishes tonight. Don't eat here if you enjoy decent food. read more

My husband, our son and I had a great dinner here last night, even though they were out of tamales.. Our server was very friendly and attended to us graciously. BUT, beware of your bill. Check it carefully by keeping a menu at your table after ordering. Our bill came to us which with a nearly $6 overcharge. Our son brought in his own condiments -- salt and pepper grinders set with metal carrier due to all of this virus business. Upon leaving the restaurant, he forgot to grab his condiments. I called the next day to see about retrieving them. Nobody seems to know where they could be. This only tells me that the individual who cleaned the table decided to make the set their own. It's very disappointing that people will take items that don't belong to them. I believe that is called STEALING. read more

I give their friendliness a 5, however their food is so bland it deserves a 1. Not a little bland, but extremely bland. The only things I could taste were the chips, cheese dip and salsa. I had the chicken burrito and the chimichanga and it was so absolutely bland I had to add my own seasoning to it. I thought adding the salsa and the cheese dip on top would help but nope, it got lost in all the blandness. I really wanted to give a good rating for any establishment in the town but unfortunately I can't. What this town needs is a great 5 star restaurant so their taste buds can wake up. Las Fuentes? Watery salsa. Below par service. Received cheese dip after asking server 4 times. My party of 6 only had 5 forks. No refills were provided. One member of my party got chicken and specifically asked for grilled more than once and got fried. I personally had the Liberty special. The food deserves a 2 but because of the service I give it 1 star. Disappointed, even for Demopolis. read more

I am from tx, so I know good Mexican food, and this was excellent Mexican food! Chicken fajita nachos were amazing! Just enough jalepenos and spices! Cheese enchiladas were great as well! Had awesome flavoring to it. Chips and hot sauce=heavenly! WARNING: drinking more than two margaritas will have you dancing on the table! Great service as well!
