My Grande Pork Carnitas Quesadilla was delicious, as well as the sides that came with it. My waiter was very friendly and attentive; great sense of humor, as well. In September I wrote a review in which I praised the food and decor but complained that they served me a soup with a teaspoon. As a result, my shirt was stained badly and it took so long to eat that the soup turned cold. I went back with a large group last night, and ordered the same soup -- bringing along a spoon of my own in case the tried to give me a teaspoon again. This time they gave me a tablespoon, but they brought me the soup cold! I can't even understand why it could have been cold, because I was the last person of 8 to be served, so it's not as if it was sitting and waiting for everyone else's order to be cooked. I guess the cook took it off the fire far too early. I HATE COLD SOUP! Then, there was a problem with the coffee. The menu warns specifically that some of their beverages are charged for refills and they indicated them by an asterisk on the menu, but coffee was not among those items. Naturally I assumed the refills were free. The cup, by the way, was tiny (and cheap so that it went cold right away), so I had three refills because I drank them quickly. Naturally I was surprised when I received the check that I'd been charged for 3 refills! I really like the quality of the food and decor, but the management and customer service leave a lot to be desired. read more

Little Hidden Gem in TARBORO NC on the strip where Walmart is.. you wouldn't think it would be busy, but you walk in side and it's a nice little stop. I didn't take any pictures but I can say the food was amazing and the server whom I forgot his name he was awesome... not to worrisome but checked on us as he needed. Old favorites don't taste the same and too much time is spent trying to find your server to get something you ordered but they forgot. Beer is cold and margaritas are tasty. I literally eat here about every other day! The food is great, the staff is friendly, and my wife tells me the margaritas are excellent! I usually order the "speedy gonzalez" and a side of Queso. It's really good food at a reasonable price. My wife is all about the guacamole though, can't tell you how many times when I get off work, she's like, "Stop and pick up some guac and chips to go with dinner.", which might be odd if you're dinner is anything like mine, homemade Fried Chicken, sautéed asparagus, stove top stuffing....AND Guacamole...but hey, if it makes her happy, I'm game :) We always have a good time when we go! read more

Like the other Mexican place in town, on a Saturday night, they closed before their hours as posted. This appears to represent Tarboro. For later dining conniosseurs, avoid this town, there is nowhere to eat here (in spite of their posted times of business). A clear sign of poor management. read more

Our service was fast, friendly, and helpful. I peeked into the kitchen and it is well set-up, had good equipment, was well-organized, and (superficially) appeared clean. The kitchen delivered the food hot and fast. The ambiance is eponymous - festively colored in Mexican pastoral themes that are uniquely decorated via relief-sculpture wall hangings and hand-carved wooden booths. The booths are better suited for couples and small families. Larger tables are in the back. The place is clean, well lit, and has a happy... ummm... Mexican party feel to it. The menu is generally around $6-9 range. When things cost that little, then the food ingredients' quality is going to fit that price range. Expect your beef enchiladas to come with mid-range ground beef, not shredded beef. The carnitas will be fatty. And expect things to be complimented with lots of iceberg lettuce, refried beans, and Mexican rice. The food is not bad. On the contrary - they've done great with what they have. Frankly, Mexican cuisine's heritage is based on doing what you can with low-to-mid range ingredients. Everything was yummy and very authentic. But don't expect high cuisine. About the right portion sized. Only weird thing was them serving ranch dressing on the side with your initial basket of (really nice) chips/salsa. Must be a Tarboro thing. Bottom line: if you won't want chain food, this place delivers just want you want in a stretch of NC65 that has limited selection. read more

Ordered the drink that was on special and they charged full price. When asked about it, the manager said they gave you the drink that was not on special, which is not my fault. He could care less. Then, he commented on the tip I left saying it wasn't enough. I told him I would never come back and be had lost a customer. Again he didnt care. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
