Back in the fall of 2024 LA cut the business hours on the weekend. Closing at 6 pm instead of 8pm. For a lot of us that can't get here all weekdays this did not go over well and to this day is a constant complaint I here at every location. Today at the Buford club with the PA system turned up very loud the girl starting blaring at 5:30 that the club was closing at 6 pm and showers closed at 5:45. This went on multiple times for the next thirty minutes. Every member there was shaking their head at the disgust and at how rude this was. Apparently it the norm because one lady said she experienced another time that was even more rude. I had my music turned up and it was drowning out my music. read more

I've been lap swimming in the Sugar Hill LAFitness pool since they opened. I'm in my eighties and this is necessary exercise for me. Lately, however, I've been upset by certain older men spitting on the side of the pool. I find it disgusting and unsanitary. I have reported it to desk personnel but they won't put up No Spitting signs. Corporate customer service is non existent. Help! read more

Child care is terrible here. We did the one week trial, I left my 22 month old, and new born. The newborn was never taken out of the car seat. He wasn't crying but I was bothered that he was just left in the corner to fin for himself. My 22 mo was left to run around with much bigger wilder kids, and no supervision. There was only one staff member in the room and she was on her laptop at the front the entire time away from all the kids. She told me she was studying for her real estate license. She clearly had no interest in refereeing the kids. When I called to cancel my membership, they asked why, I said I didn't like the way the child care was run and explained my experience. The young lady on the phone was extremely defensive of her friend working in child care. I ended the conversation by saying "if you don't want to hear my feedback, why did you ask me anyways? Nice gym for the price. Horrible clientele. They throw personal items on 1-3 pieces of equipment then go use something else. They expect it is reserved for them. Then you have a confrontation when you use the equipment. They come running over saying I'm using that! The STAFF must monitor this and remove items from equipment with no one using it. This will drive away the good customers. I go to 4 different LA Fitness clubs and this is the only place this happens. Overall nice place, staff, equipment, and value. This is a typical family gym. Zumba, cycling, pool, sauna, people sleeping on machines, people sitting on machines and on their phones, random wannabe NBA players that HAVE to take off their shirt in the basketball court, 1/5 of the machines are "scheduled for maintenance" for over 7 months, "certified" personal trainers, and the worst of them all; people who "hold on" to equipment like they made an appointment for it. If you want a good workout, go in the morning(5AM-9AM). Around 4:30PM-7:30PM on weekdays is a nightmare to follow your own protocol. After 4PM on Sat and Sun isn't so bad. read more

This location is big, has a great selection of equipment, and the staff are great. However, I don't come to this location anymore unless I have a guy working out with me. The men in this location absolutely will not keep their explicit comments or their hands to themselves. I can't tell you how many grossly sexual comments I've gotten and how many times men have taken it upon themselves to spot me or touch my body to critique my exercises, even after being told I did not want their help. It does not matter if anyone tells them to stop, they just do it all again the next day. It's infuriating. So if you're a lady and planning to be on the weight floor try checking out a different location. read more

Borderline criminals. Went to cancel my membership in person and I was told it was cancelled by a very nice front desk attendant. A week later I was charged for my monthly membership fees plus an annual fee. I called over to figure out the issues and they were able to cancel my membership over the phone. They told me that I should be seeing a refund issued in 3-5 business days. I called after a week and a nice person at the front desk said the GM was out and he would call me back when he gets in. I never received a call. After another week I called today and talked to a very rude GM who asked who told me I would receive a refund and said I would not be getting anything. read more

VERY OLD EQUIPMENT - ZERO UPDATES once location built I have been an LA Fitness Member for almost 20 years. Your experience varies depending on the location you frequent. Chief Complaint - EQUIPMENT NOT UPDATED. LA Fitness has been VERY complacent. They have simply collected dues and done NOTHING else. They have refused to give their clients a more updated experience because they have not faced serious competition. In general, when they build a gym, they do not bother to update the equipment. I was shocked and VERY disappointed to see the stone-age equipment at the Buford GA location in particular. Not only is the equipment uncomfortable to use due to age, but your work out will also suffer and regress because they lack the appropriate equipment. ZERO INNOVATION - I think a basic rule of business is to keep improving and innovating. For every LA Fitness location I have frequented and worked out for some time, I have NEVER once seen any equipment replaced or updated. If you never visit another location or gym, you will not know how much your workout is suffering and regressing. This is absolutely irresponsible business management. Not once did it occur to improve ANYTHING??? Every equipment is firmly nailed in place from the first day it was put there. I am not sure what the end game here is? Are you hoping your clients will not notice or do you want them to leave?? I seriously hope you will face serious competition and WAKE UP. I am happy to see Crunch Fitness open close by to your locations. OTHER AMENITIES NOT A SUBSITUTE - NO, your pool, racquetball and basketball courts are NOT an excuse or alibi. They are not a substitute for innovation and updates. While you have used them a selling point, and it's a good thing you have them; I find they have made you complacent rather than encourage you to do better. LIMITED TO OLD LOCATIONS - Members do not have the ability to simply visit the latest location built. Obviously, you will work out at a location that is closest to you. The fact that you have more recent equipment at gyms built more recently, means you KNOW your earlier established gyms are in SERIOUS NEED of updating. I have worked out at 4 or 5 locations on a permanent basis across the country. Unfortunately my experience has been worse with each location I frequented subsequently. Everything is new when you begin, but since - old, stagnant, limiting and in need of maintenance. After 20 years, I will definitely be finding a new gym, but I first need to provide you this feedback. I work out at least 5 days a week. I am not your average gym-goer - I work out hard and want to work out a gym that provides me the experience and equipment I need. I am not writing a review to complain about cleanliness and maintaining of equipment - though that is also a problem at some of your locations. My chief complaint is a REGRESSIVE, LACK of INNOVATION, UPDATES, and IMPROVEMENTS of your equipment at ALL your locations. It is one thing not to update select locations, it is another to have this as your business model. What a shame you have taken your clients for granted and chose - all these years - not to innovate - if for nothing else but to stay competitive, but for goodness sake, to take care of your clientele who faithfully pay you dues each month, year after year. NO MORE - I feel cheated. Your old stagnant equipment sorely stands out with every new gym and/ or location frequented. I thought your TUCKER GA location gave me - at best, a tolerable experience - but your BUFORD location is definitely the straw that has broken the camel's back. You are much better off sticking to a gym that earns your membership every month than locking into a high-priced, long-term contract. If you have a problem, there is a revolving door of unhelpful customer service representatives, but none of them are empowered to actually fix any issues. This location is phenomenal. Extremely clean and the staff is always so helpful. With any gym, it can get a little dirty but the staff is constantly cleaning alongside their managers. I have a guest pass and the girl at the front desk with black hair was just not wanting to let my guest in WITH ME. Sent the 7 day pass but she insisted on getting her manager to approve it after we had been working out there for a couple days already with no problems what so ever. Could be a good club for racquetball but management refuses to turn on the AC so the courts are at literally 100% humidity and 90°+. The walls are wet and mold is starting to grow at the base of the walls so they smell musty. It's impossible to play a normal game on busy days because all surfaces are so wet. Newer 2- story floor design with the "cardio catwalk" set up. It's a nice club, well-kept and clean BUT it gets CROWDED during prime time. The kind of crowded that makes you want to go to the sales people and yell at them: "for the love of God, stop the madness!". You know... that kind of crowded. So, plan on being flexible with your workout rotation. The people are pretty nice, with a wide range of folks you would expect to find at such a place: middle-aged to middle school, MILFs to meatheads. They have it all. Easy to grab a spot from someone who knows what they're doing. If you're inclined to liking the LA Fitness business model then you'll love this gym. If you're more inclined to smaller more serious lifting places then go across 985 and hit up the multitude of smaller gyms on the west side of town. read more

Skinny-fy me LA Fitness! This is my go to gym! The location is extremely convenient for me. Here's some tips in case you want to visit! -The gym can get pretty jammed packed! And I try to avoid people like the plague when I'm working out (That awkward moment when you see an old friend and you are sweaty and smelly and panting heavily...)(& that's usually on the days that you didn't dress all cute and color coordinated!). So I try to come when everyone is either at work or in school (anytime before noon). Sundays are also good days to come. -The Zumba class run by Mary on Monday evenings are way too packed! If you get there late, you're stuck in the back & have to rely on what the person in front of you is doing. (Which adds to more awkward gym moments!) -The Step Plus Abs (Step Aerobics) classes led by Stacey on Wednesday evenings are NOT for beginners. -The Cycle classes are crazy intense! Very good for calorie burning! Both men & women will enjoy!! If it's your first time trying: 1. Don't worry, you'll get better. 2. That area between your legs will hurt very badly!! Bring a towel for your face. And a towel as a cushion for that awful seat. And bring WATER!! They have all sorts of equipment. And they have televisions to watch while you workout (although you need a special app to listen -I have yet to figure it out!) I personally rather walk/run outside. I hate to run and not go anywhere! (I recommended the nearby nature trail if you are outdoorsy like me) The sauna is dry heat. It's kind of tiny. And can get crowded. And there are a couple of people who like to talk the entire time in there! (If you're one of those people, I mean no offense! I just like to relax and drift off to la la land while sweating!) If you're a girl and you are wondering if dry heat can damage your hair, it can! But use the heat to your advantage & put conditioner in it before you enter! All in all, this is my gym & I like it. This place was fairly spacious. The current membership price is $29.99. In addition to this, you have to pay the 1st and last months up front. You're also charged an application or something fee of about $140 (?). The facility itself had a variety of equipment. There was an upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs had mostly cardio equipment that overlooks the lower level. All the weights and other equipments were downstairs along with rooms for racket ball. Overall, I think this place is decent for the membership price and number and variety of weights and workout equipments. I think I would consider LA Fitness as a potential place for a gym membership, but I think I'll give their 7 day risk free trial a go. I got the basic pass w/o knowing that it wouldn't allow me to go train at different locations. When I went into this one today around 6pm, I was told about my membership and how paying 5 extra bucks would allow me to join other locations. Honestly it didn't sound to me like a bad deal and I was always open to upgrading! Front desk guided me to their male supervisor on duty I believe, could not get a name but he was white skin light brown hair young man. I truly was trying to know more about this deal, how the process was and this supervisor had the most rude attitude. I work customer service and I understand how many people come through those doors with all kinds of issues that need to be fixed, all I was asking was for some attention and for my questions to be answered with no attitude behind it. If you're trying to provide an excellent service, get more memberships to the gym and especially expecting more money from me, i would expect some decency not only from management but from the whole team! I have been in and out of this place getting my cardio on for the last 6 month's. Mornings, I repeat Mornings before 11:00 if you can get here DO SO! If not you would feel like most of these people dont Have jobs or something free is being given out! (Crowds ugh) 3stars due to that. I'm a bit of a germaphobe and need my Lysol wipes before I touch anything. I work in healthcare so gyms can be scary. Crowds make that fear worst. They have classes such as cycling, Zumba and aerobics, and more Some classes are intense so be hydrated with (H20 not powerade) beforehand. I usually come with a friend that pushes me to do weights sometimes (eek) I hate the soreness so I will stick to my cardio thanks! :) read more

I have been to 7 different LA Fitness locations in the past month. This one is above average. Pros: There is usually available cardio equipment, unless it is exactly six PM, the second-best LA I have been to in this regard. Getting a bench is easier here than a lot of other places. Getting squat racks here is easier than anywhere else. This place is awesome late on a weekend night as it is very empty. Cons: Some people do socialize here which I find annoying. Middle: The pool here is sometimes packed, sometimes not. That's a crap shoot. Quality of play in pick up basketball is average at best though the players often think it's higher than that. As a white guy I was able to earn respect rather quickly by not taking bad shots. TBD: Rarely am I here at the 4- 6 pm window. Overall, this is a go to spot of mine regardless of what exercises I have lined up that day. read more

This review is mainly about the difficulties of canceling my membership....... A little bit about this facility. Basically it is almost always over crowded, literally. I've been to multiple different gyms and this actually may have been the worst. And my opinion has nothing to do with the fact that they gave me a hard time canceling my membership either, I promise. You either have to get here when doors open or around 3 or 4 to miss the crowd. As other reviewers have noted yes the bathrooms are not the cleanest! I literally walked in the women's restroom once and walked right back out. Soooo back to canceling my membership. Obviously when you sign up they let you know you can only cancel 2 ways, in person or online, where you download the form and mail it in. Sounds easy enough. I literally haven't had the time and haven't even used my membership for 5 months maybe more. Well time to cancel. It takes another month before we even have time to go to the gym to cancel. In the meantime I've made several attempts to pull up my account online but failed many times. The one time I was able to log in it said I had to go into the facility to cancel my membership. My boyfriend and I have a membership together, so I have him cancel it because I don't have the opportunity to come in between the hours of 9-5, due to my work schedule. So to cancel it you have to catch the Operations Manager between 9-5. My boyfriend showed up twice to cancel, but both times no Operation Manager. FINALLY, he catches the Operation Manager and was able to cancel it. I get a confirmation email saying his membership was canceled and I was still an active member. So of course I call my boyfriend to complain why he did not cancel the entire membership. He stated he did and that before he left the Operation Manger specifically asked if he wanted the entire membership canceled of course he responded yes, as we have been wanting to cancel for a month or more. So I called the LA Fitness in Buford and it was clear that the guy working the front desk on 1/23/2018, did not and could not help me any further and told me I needed to come in and cancel it, even though it was a mistake on their end. I am so heated at this moment that it is taking this long to cancel my membership. I go on google (of course) and was able to pull up Corporate's phone number. Give them a call and within less than 3 minutes my entire membership was canceled and they kindly apologized for this locations mistakes. Because of this one experience I cannot and will not ever come to this gym again. I've had an LA Fitness membership twice before even back in the day when they only gave memberships with 2 year contracts.
