I went to the LA fitness on Foster Ave for the 1st time. It was pretty nice!! It is a newer gym! The equipment was in good condition. I like how the people at the front desk greet you hi and bye! The gym was clean also! You can tell the people cleaning the gym take pride in their work and have attention to detail. Making sure the place stays looking great! LA Fitness took over XSport. I saw some regulars from the Elston XSport over here now. Overall a great experience! Will return! I do wish the showers were a touch bigger or had movable shower heads.

The front sign. Looks good and modern

This place is new, as of this August 2022, writing of this review. It still has the new-equipment smell of plastic and drywall. This is the 9th LA Fitness I've toured in the Chicagoland area. This place is located on the 2nd floor, on top of a Ross. The gym itself is spacious, with a good amount of space for treadmills and treadmills for your cardio, spin class, and even a turf area. The free weights are OK, including three squat/deadlift stations, 3 free weight benches, a few Smith machines, leg presses, and an incline bench. They also have a couple of glute machines, which I appreciate as well. There are several sets of dumbbells and weights, and the cross-trainers were new and pristine. One thing lacking about this LA Fitness is the limited number of hammer strength isometric machines. I personally enjoy those machines, as you can work in isolation, each leg/arm. They did have some Hoist machines, which are great movements to put in to your exercise routine. Overall, a great gym, with just enough to get a good workout in. BATHROOM REVIEW: The locker room was super nice and clean. I didn't shower there, but it appears in good condition. The men's had three urinals and a couple of stalls. Sink and everything was in working order. Sit or squat? Sit!

9/6/2023 8pm : My car got broken into in this parking lot. Staff at this facility did not care or do anything at all. This lot does not have cameras which is why there have been multiple cars besides mine that have been reported broken into, presumably the same thieves. Nothing is safe because they will break the rear windows and try to pull down your passenger seat to check your trunk as well. Thieves stole my backpack with my laptop and wallets and immediately started charging all my cards at nearby stores, which means this is a regular route that is being hit. In total, they stole $2500 work/personal belongings and another $3k in fraudulent credit card charges. I was also not alone as other people also got broken into the same night. This gym and lot still refuses to install cameras to deter break ins. Park at your own risk. The gym will not help you. I've been a member of this franchise for 10 years, but the way no one helped me or check up on my situation left a horrible taste in my mouth. Cancelling and never going back to this franchise again. This gym clearly does not care for the safety of it's patreons.

    Brand new gym equipment!

Unfriendly and unhelpful at the front desk. I was turned away even though I had a valid pass.

Everyday is like going to Disneyland. At least as far as the crowds and lines for weights and machines.

Ever since LA Fitness bought Xsport, unmindful people have been arriving with a not so good gym culture. Im canceling my membership.

In spite of it, I opt to go to Galter, because I think it is a lot better than the competition. What I like the most here are the fitness classes included in membership. You have to sign up for the more popular classes 48 hours in advance, because they fill up quickly. Try to take some classes like yoga or Aqua Mix/ Aqua Blast with Shannon, who is an awesome instructor. As others have mentioned, you will see all ages and body types here, so no need to be embarrassed if you are not in top shape. There are two pools (the West pool is bigger), a sauna, whirlpool, and a lot of equipment on the second floor. The staff is friendly and the place seems quite clean. The only negatives that I can see are very small towels and several lockers without working locks.

The membership is overpriced for the services they provide. There is also very little respect for members. They offer individual classes that take up entire lanes, leaving members unable to swim. They even state in their documents that people paying for those classes have priority. Well, I pay too--and I pay a very expensive membership, yet I feel that the needs of regular members are completely disregarded. There isn't even proper shampoo--just soap that they label as shampoo. People are allowed to use their phones, and nobody seems to enforce the rules. Overall, it feels like the facility has been abandoned and that management no longer cares about the members or the quality of the experience.

I'm not new to working out with trainers, but I must say that Brittany is the best one I've had yet! I really like the straight up motivation and encouragement. She's very flexible with my schedule and can always do me in on the day I want. I also love the reminder texts I get the day prior. The style of training is crossfit. You never do the same workout. This way your body gets to use all it's muscles and challenges every time. I've actually seen results in my strength and endurance. I still have additional goals to achieve and I know I can get there with Twelve Training. I also like the atmosphere of the gym as well. It's not pretentious as some of the elite facilities. It's large enough to have a lot of variety of equipment as well not be so busy that you are stepping over other people. I never knew there were so many things you can do with a work out in addition to just weights! Great place to come if you are looking to get fit and stay fit!

CS&C is the place in Chicago to go if you want to get strong AF. The fact is, that Dave (the owner…read moreand head trainer) subscribes to the best philosophy when it comes to lifting weights: "If it is complicated- you're doing it wrong. Commit to your training, eat and sleep like it. And you will get stronger." CS&C is a Starting Strength gym, which means that the focus is on three main lifts: squat, deadlift, and press. Other lifts are utilized when they are useful (bench, power cleans, etc.) for increasing strength. Dave and Karl's focus is on getting athletes to do the lifts right, which ultimately protects against injury. In the run up to my latest powerlifting meet, Dave sorted out my deadlift and Karl helped me with my bench. This isn't a place where you're gonna get a soy machiato frappacino with skinny whip after doing a set of quarter squats in the Smith machine or bicep curls in the rack. Honestly, if you wanna be a menace to society, go do that somewhere else. This is a place where you're going to get strong. If you listen to the coaches and put in the work, your squat, deadlift, and press numbers will ALL go up. And you'll be harder to kill, which if we're honest, is all anyone really wants.

I just happened to stumble into the class about 2ish years ago because I came at the wrong time. What I thought was a section of the crossfit class turned out to be a power lifting class. Since then I have fallen in love with the sport and have done multiple power lifting competitions. A big part of that was Dave. He explains things really well and is very knowledgeable. Even though the crossfit gym location was no longer convenient for me, I still kept coming and doing programs because of Dave. I am NOT the easiest of clients. I complain and make excuses all the time. Dave would calmly call me on my BS without being condescending. I was very excited for him when he opened his own facility at Chicago Strength and Conditioning. And even though this location is even MORE inconvenient for me, I still reach out to Dave for assistance. I utilized him for a great year long nutrition program. I signed up for 3 month program to help with a competition. Dave is my go to whenever I have questions or need advice about lifting. As a coach he's great and has help me improve significantly in all my lifts. He's worth every penny I have given. Review of the gym: I have only been to the gym a couple times since it's not near me and I do a lot of online programming. So I can't speak on membership pricing or local competitors. It may be small but it packs a punch. Each rack(I think there are 6 total) has it's own set of weights. And since the place is fairly new, the equipment is NICE! Recently, I showed up on a Saturday morning to get some in-person coaching. At first is was just me but by the time I was leaving, there was about 6 or 7 people there. It was intimate but I definitely didn't feel cramped. Everyone there was super nice and supportive of each other. There were people of all ages, strengths and sizes. All the coaches and athletes came up to me and introduced themselves. The few times I have been there, I really liked. If I didn't live so far away, I would totally attend this gym.
