When I've things to do in this part of the neighborhood I make sure to wear my exercise clothes! This makes me more inclined/motivated to get some cardio movement in. I actually like to workout but it still takes a little self coaxing at times. I like this gym and the staffers are always ready to help. If need be. Unlike some other gym membership experiences I can actually recognize some consistent staffing faces here. So that's nice when there isn't a higher turnover rate as the other gyms. Though I have to agree with some other reviewers. Maintenance of the equipment could be better attended. Especially for such a nice town you'd think they'd utilize the equipment warranties. If they expired maybe it's time for some new equipment to come Maybe. (Included pix of some examples) Just a suggestion or something to look into perhaps. I mainly stick to certain exercises and machines so I haven't utilized Pilates, pool, steam room etc I leave feeling that I accomplished a good workout. I've even gotten a smoothie from time to time as well. When I need a little post workout boost...it's quite refreshing! Let 'em see you sweat! *as per the international La Fitness manager reply. I'd kindly like to point out that it's rather not a "unique", stand alone, or isolated need. It's by my & many other gym members experience here that the majority of equipment might be somewhat functional but a lot of the equipment is outdated and exhibits much wear and tear. For example the older/elderly gentleman next to me had problems with his broken foot strap on the pedal. The staffers should be the ones to put in the requests to the higher ups as they see the issues on the daily. I've had a great experience at the LA Fitness in Encinitas. The gym is spacious, clean, and well-maintained, which makes working out here really enjoyable. There's a wide variety of equipment, so I never feel limited whether I'm doing cardio, weights, or stretching. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I appreciate how welcoming the overall vibe is. Just cancelled my membership here. Last Thursday my locker was unknowingly broken into by a staff member while I was working out due to a girl leaving her headphones in the same locker on accident . My things were left unlocked for over an hour with all my belongings inside still, no note no nothing. Went to front desk immediately after discovering my open locker and Kayla could give me no information of who opened my locker and where my lock was. They could have at least brought my things to the front where it would be safer and she said they "thought about leaving a note" but decided not to??? Complete negligence at its finest. Went today to talk to a manager (Jack)and was absolutely no help just a half ass "sorry". My wallet was among my belongings and I had to cancel all my credit cards just in case any info was stolen. I've come here a handful of times recently! The front desk staff is friendly when checking you in and also informed me of their reformer pilates classes they have. The machines are a little outdated but work just fine. They have a pool, sauna, racquetball courts, and so much more. Solid gym! Customer service is great- Christian really works with you to get you the best deal. The gym is never crowded so I can get my workout done quickly with no wait for machines. mixed communication between online, front desk, and sales rep. wanted to try out a three day pass while i was visiting out of town to see if i would like this gym. came in on a Friday at 7am and was said i could use the free 3 day but a sales rep was not in yet to hear there sales pitch and that i could still use the first day pass. i got a text from the sales rep later that day and set up a time for the meeting the following day to activate the pass and had no problem that i was out of town. however i came in on Saturday and talked to the sales rep and was told that since i don't live in the area i have to pay 70$ for a 3 day pass. need to change the wording on the website when it says "FREE Guest pass". read more

Has everything you need + a little more. Lots of open room so you don't feel too crowded. Lots of different weight and cardio machines, along with a few open spaces for stretching & free weight workouts. Showers were nice and hot as well! read more

Friendly staff that made me feel at home, was impressed by the cleanliness of bathrooms/sauna, and not as packed out as most clubs are that I go so my fave machines are usually free! Used to work out here many years ago and came back with a friend to workout. Very large gym, lots of equipment and a decent number of free weights. A few smith machines, so it's great not to have to wait, there's enough to do if someone is on something. They were willing to give me one pass but because I was a previous member, they didn't want to give me a few days or week pass which is ridiculous because I still could become a member. I've seen a few people that I used to work out there with long ago. Nice to go to a gym and right off feel comfortable. I will be back, I am hoping to be able to get a pass and truly see if I want to make that jump. A bit farther than I've had to go, but pricing is also soooo much less than my current gym. They also have the same smoothies bar that was there 16 years ago. read more

My partner and I find LA Fitness in Encinitas to be a very convenient gym, well equipped and generally well run. The atmosphere is great - they accommodate seniors and in general the facilities are well stocked and well maintained. You rarely see a machine that is out of order. And the new pilates studio is outstanding! Lovely atmosphere with muted lighting and new reformer beds. There are a couple of areas that need improving: The women's shower area needs renovating. It would be nice if there were more hooks to accommodate toiletry bag, towel and clothes. I find using the showers an exercise in frustration. They have recently added a great schedule of pilates classes, which is fantastic. I love that I can schedule a session almost whenever I feel like it. The new studio is lovely. These are some things I wish they would manage better: 1. The instructors' level of competence ranges from very good to really lousy. I would like to see more consistency there. 2. All of the instructors use music during instruction which is very distracting. In traditional pilates music is not used because it "can be a distraction when trying to make the mind-body connection that's central to Pilates. The focus of Pilates is on maintaining breath control, alignment, stability, and a neutral spine, not on rhythm and lyrics. " There is nothing more distracting in a pilates class than loud, inappropriate music that interferes with the instructions. And turning up the damned microphone is not the answer! read more

There's private indoor courts to play handball, pickle ball, etc. There's many equiptment to choose from and old school equipment that still works. LA Fitness needs to clarify their position on guest passes. I have a membership at the Encinitas, CA facility. My Lady friend is visiting from Peru and does not reside in the United States. This is probably the nicest location in the area, and almost always empty even during rush hour. The place is huge and boosts ALOT of machines, the machines are newer and the whole place is newer than some of the other locations. Everything is very clean and spacious. Members still are not racking their weights or putting benches back after using the smith machine. Today, I was on the StairClimber between 1030-11am, and a young woman got on the machine next to me reeking of WEED. It smelled disgusting. This could not have been consumed at home. There is no way she smelled that strongly after a drive from home I moved to a different machine, three away from her. Then, she moved over next to me when that machine opened up. I told her that I moved away from her because she stinks of marijuana. She said "I'm sorry" and continued her "workout". She was intoxicated and stumbling. I thought she would fall off. read more

I'm so glad that I went to the 99cent store and stumbled upon this LA Fitness nearly next door! I haven't stepped foot in a gym since the pandemic began, and I'm so glad that I chose this gym to come into first. I immediately felt so welcomed by the staff. Terrance and Sam helped me get set up and they were both very genuine and kind. I must say, the membership is a steal for all the perks you get here compared to all the other gyms in the area! I also had a complimentary one-on-one training session/consultation with Eileen, who manages the personal training department and we clicked right away. It felt so good to be trained by someone who has personally experienced significant weight loss and understands the journey that I'm on. 100/10 stars for this team and this location! read more

Old. Outdated. Dirty. Women's sauna does not get hot - multiple women have told front desk staff many times and head trainers and staff don't care, are rude, and no one helps. Staff super unfriendly. Overall would recommend going anywhere else if you can. read more

LA Fitness has been my gym of choice for some time, and I'm a massive fan of both the staff, cleanliness, and quality of equipment. My only concern though, which I and several of my running friends who frequent this gym have, is that recently the treadmills have been adjusted to automatically quit your workout after only 30 seconds of rest. 30s- 1min is a very normal resting duration for longer runs or even sprints, and it's very disruptive to have the equipment turn itself off after just that short amount of time off the machine. Conserving power is important, and a a 1:30 timer would be more reasonable. I will edit my review to a 5 star if this ever gets fixed... hoping at least a 3 star gets this issue the attention is deserves. Especially considering that it seems corporate management isn't interesting in correcting for this (I've tried asking)... read more

Having grown up in Encinitas, I've known of the existence of this LA Fitness location for some time now. But it wasn't until I actually ventured into this club that I was truly BLOWN AWAY! Their GM/Sales Manager, Terrance Kelley, gave me a tour of the entire facility and from the outside looking in, I'd never even guess all they had to offer. Plus, with a single level of membership - where everyone is granted access to all it's locations, plus the option of bring up to two guests at each and every time I workout - and all without a long-term contract making me feel locked - for less than $40/month, I won't go anywhere else in North County San Diego again. Moreover, in place of the fees and contracts that I've been stuck paying at most local 'high-end' luxury fitness club (such as Equinox, Fit Athletic, EōS Fitness, Barry's Bootcamp, Orangetheory & even the standard 24-Hour Fitness), LA Fitness Encinitas might just be the best combination of the right price, the right approach and the right location. And having been an athlete my whole life, I was pleasantly surprised as to not only the full list of amenities I had once had to pay top dollar for, this huge gym space has all I've ever wanted in my various precious gym memberships, but under one roof. Be it an indoor Olympic-sized pool & huge jacuzzi and the dry sauna in each of the two locker rooms, to the full indoor basketball court, racquet ball courts and vast number of vast number of various cardio machines, one of the best offerings this location has unlike all too many others is enough both free and controlled weights equipment available that I never am standing around waiting to keep my workout going and my tempo/heart rate up. LA fitness is a good old fashion large gym with lots of equipment. They have everything you'll ever need to get a great workout plus a basketball court and a pool and a juice bar to get those proteins and carbs after a long hard workout. The gym is one of the few left that has a kids club which is really nice. The girls that work at the kids club are always very nice and my daughter loves going there. The gym is also extremely reasonable and I'm actually shocked how cheap it is for what a huge location it is. read more
