Their classes have been a part of my life for a long time, and I've always appreciated the comfortable and friendly atmosphere they create. People come in ready to move and have a good time, and it's easy to just be yourself without feeling judged. The music and energy build in a way that makes the workout go by fast, and before you know it you're sweating without even realizing how much work you put in. It's a solid class and a good way to start or end the day. Outside of class, the gym itself has been great. It's clean, organized, and easy to navigate. The only reason I started going to LA Fitness is because the Escondido location hired one of my favorite local Zumba and fitness instructors, Briana. She encourages freedom and craziness in her classes which makes for a magnetic, fun energy that keeps me coming back. Honestly, if Briana had more classes here, I would be in attendance every single time. She's loud, plays her music louder, and brings the loudest group of guest instructors with her to every class. I just recently signed up and I'm quite impressed the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and keep the gym very clean. They have a Smoothie Bar where you can buy smoothies or other drinks I have a reasonable price. They have child care available. They have racquetball courts I've heard they have a basketball court. They have free weights they have Universal machines. And they also have dry heat sauna in the locker rooms and a pool indoors and the jacuzzi. The price is reasonable and also if you have certain Medicare plans like my wife you can get a membership through that plan for like $20 a month. I will be a member for quite a long time read more

I've been coming to this gym for years because it's close to home and cheap. I pay $30 per month. I think it's a good gym for the price. Everything works and it's mostly clean. There are sanitizer wipes throughout the gym so you can wipe down the machines/weights before and after use. I don't think I've ever used the bathrooms or pool so I can't speak on those areas. read more

I'm usually more of a weights guy, don't really do the dance stuff, but my wife dragged me into this Zumba class with Briana and I'll be honest... that was actually a good time. The music was loud (which I liked), easy to follow, and everyone was just having fun. And having her sister and daughter in there hyping people up was cool too -- felt like you were just at a big family party. I was sweating for real. I'll be honest--for the price you pay upfront and monthly, this gym hasn't quite met my expectations. Maybe I'm being a bit picky, but I was expecting a cleaner and more well-maintained facility. I've only been a member for a week, but so far, I've noticed that very few people rerack their weights or wipe down the machines after use. One of the main reasons I switched gyms was for convenience--this location is only a minute away from home. That said, convenience isn't everything. One experience that stood out was when my boyfriend and I were in the mirrored room setting up to work out around 3:45 p.m. An older woman came in and told us to move because they were about to have a class. When my boyfriend politely asked what time the class started, her husband responded (nicely) that it started at 4:30 and that we could continue until then. It just felt unnecessarily rude on her part, especially since we were there first. There was also a man working out in a full sauna suit--everyone's entitled to train however they like, but at least wipe the equipment down after using it. On a positive note, the staff has been very friendly. I felt bad for one of the trainers who had reserved a machine for his client, only for another couple to start using it. Instead of the couple acknowledging the mistake, the trainer ended up apologizing to them, which seemed backwards. My best experience so far was a 1:1 session with Nathan. He was excellent--he pointed out some posture issues I didn't know I had and showed me simple but effective core workouts and breathing exercises. That session definitely stood out as a highlight. Overall, I'm hopeful things will improve, but right now, I feel the experience doesn't quite justify the cost. read more

I actually joined LA Fitness specifically because Briana and her sister, CJ, are teaching here now. I've been taking their classes for years at different studios and community events, and there is nothing like the community they build. It's not just a workout, it's a whole vibe. Everyone is welcome, everyone is encouraged, and you leave feeling like you just danced with friends you didn't even know you had. When I tell you we SWEAT!! like, absolutely drenched, but in the best way. It never feels intimidating, it never feels like you have to look a certain way or keep up, you just move how your body moves and have FUN. I truly feel this gym is my neighborhood gym for it has a wonderful and friendly staff led by Kim, Zephr, Blake, and Jessie. Jessie is the head of the training staff. she is WONDERFUL! Prior to her coming there was an arrogant 'person' who lacked integrit, would misrepresent himself, and bullied the Trainers. The morale of the Trainers were low. Now, with Jessie's positivity and exceptional knowledge, morale is much better and at its highest since I started here three years ago. Jessie and Sabrina are the best, and most knowledgeable, Personal Trainers I have seen in many years. They care about their clients, are impeccably honest, encouraging and caring. I would trust them with my fitness regimen anytime and highly recommend them. read more

LA fitness in Escondido has shown It's true colors and professionalism or lack there of. There's a recently new trainer who places pieces of paper taped for an hour plus on machines for private training sessions. Within this time due to the way it is placed people are unable to use these specific machines. This is occurring at a timeframe between 5 and 7 PM which is rush-hour for everybody getting out of work and trying to get a workout in. When a confrontation occurred two days in a row with my husband, he was trying to use the machines due to the fact there are only three of each. He was told by manager Yvette and trainer Kimberly that the individual that has a training session pays more than he does so they take priority over any equipment at the gym. I would like to note that these machines are not in a training only Section of the gym, if so this would make more sense if you have specific exercises that need to be done and machines that need to be saved for training purposes then you should put one of each in the specific training area in the center of the gym. I spoke to upper management (Daniel) in Oceanside who pretty much said Signs will remain in place because people do in fact pay more than we do. He tried to state that the machines could still be used prior to them needing it, but it needs to be available once the trainee needs it. You can look at the picture yourself and see, how are you supposed to use that machine or if that sign in anyway states that you're still available to use it before then. So our 11 years of paying a membership is inadequate as far as they see it. Please don't waste your money here. There are so many other options for gyms in the area. Personal gyms with owners who actually care about their clientele and their opinions. As far as Kimberly and Yvette go, I hope your CEO and upper management are happy with your customer service skills and the way that you treat your customers. You will be losing more accounts than just our families. DO BETTER at the job you are paid to do. read more

I'm very satisfied with LA Fitness Escondido. I joined in Nov 2024 thanks to Blake. Blake was super helpful and still recognizes me to this day. I appreciate him and the rest of LAF. Staff here always welcome me back like they know me...they don't! But their friendliness is a bonus in my opinion. Blake once went over to top to help with an iPhone issue completely not exercise related. But he worked on my phone patiently! I've been using LA Fitness for about 3-4 years and have always been happy. However, I've been going to this location for about 6 months and am disappointed. Pros for this location: 1. The equipment is functional (bare minimum for any gym). 2. It has a large pool Cons for this location: 1. They're always out of the sanitary wipes to clean the machines. Once in a while, sure is OK. But it has been a consistent thing since I've been here. Perhaps the manager of this location does not care enough or the person in charge of inventory should be re-evaluated. When I've mentioned it to the front staff I get "yeah we know". I'm going to start bringing my own even though I shouldn't have to. 2. Another inventory problem: They're often out of toilet paper and hand towels in the bathroom. There's no other way to dry your hand other than on your personal belongings. 3. The bathroom stalls are dirty. Could be worse but it has never been an issue at the other location I've been to. 3. This may have to do with space but they don't have "in between" sized dumbbells only increments of 5. I've been debating it for the last 6 months but it may be worth driving farther for my old location or switching gyms altogether. Its a shame to see such a difference in standards between locations but im tired of being annoyed. read more

I have been a member for over 2 years and the the two master trainers I used were excellent. My progress in improving my total fitness after having my two hip replacements was remarkable. Most of the staff is very friendly. My wife really enjoys silver sneakers instructors for their positive attitude and exercises. Overall most of the equipment needs to be updated. My husband and I joined this gym over a year ago. We used the machines and treadmill and attended silver sneakers regularly until the instructor (Dean) quit. Rumor has it she asked for a raise and they said no. She was an excellent instructor. Her classes were often "overfull". Now they are using an instructor who is the worst instructor I have ever taken a class from. I have belonged to gyms and worked out consistently for over 40 years. I have taken muscle classes, yoga, high impact and low impact aerobics, zumba. This current instructor is usually late. She does endless repititions without counting, has us seniors running in place (totally inappropriate for seniors). She rarely looks around the class and seems to be there for her own workout only. I am currently searching for a new gym to join. LA Fitness in Escondido has very limited classes. read more

I had a very bad experience at the San Marcos location upon arrival. They contracted my daughter for monthly tuition but always automatically charged me for six months. The registrar had promised to take money from us monthly if needed, but he left, and no one else took responsibility. We had to dispute all charges with our bank. Additionally, you won't believe what we saw at the Escondido location. My daughter, husband, and I went there to use the pool and hot tub. There was no supervision, and a tattooed man in boots entered the water without warning. The men's bathroom was completely muddy, and the jacuzzi water was full of foaming agents. My wife and I joined LA Fitness Escondido soon after the pandemic let up. We had been with another gym for years, but decided to give this place a try, and it's been a good move. The variety of machines, free weights, and other facilities is great. The staff is friendly, and the place is well-maintained, which we really appreciate. Now, the downside--let's talk about the infamous "gym campers." You know the type: they stake their claim on a machine and proceed to spend more time scrolling through Instagram than actually working out. It's like they're holding a picnic for their phone and forgot to invite the weights! Sure, it's annoying, but I suppose it's just part of gym life nowadays. Overall, though, LA Fitness Escondido is a solid choice, as long as you're prepared to occasionally work around the "texting squatters." read more

Horrible experience with sales manager Sepher. Would not accommodate a client of mine with an intellectual disability claiming staff attending classes was "taking away from members who actually pay". Very unprofessional and non accommodating to those with disabilities. 24 hour is a better option and very welcoming to those with disabilities/their support staff. read more

I had an appointment with Nathan and he really inspired me to want to get healthier and more fit. But we started late and didn't have time to finish our session. So he asked me to book a second one, which I did. When I showed up on Friday for my appointment, he was not there. They told me he was taking his daughter to an appointment. Because I had not been to a gym before he was going to teach me how to use the equipment. He had shown me the rowing machine so I used that for a while and when he didn't return, the salesmanager showed me how to start on a couple of other things. I waited until eleven thirty and then went back to check. They said he was not coming in, but he would call me later to reschedule. That was yesterday, and I have not heard from anyone. I am quite disappointed because Nathan had got me feeling inspired about improving my health. I was hoping for enough training to be able to create a schedule for myself. All I really need is for someone to show me how to use the equipment safely and guidance on how many reps for each one. read more
