Been coming here since just after it opened and I have very little complaints. It's conveniently located, not packed, and has almost everything I need for an effective workout. It's not a golds gym or anything, but the place is perfect for all fitness levels. It's honestly sad that it's so poorly rated by people who don't know how to properly cancel their memberships that they're willing to slander a hard working woman's business out of pure spite....ill never understand the mind of someone so petty. FITSI Gym in Escondido has honestly been a complete blessing for our family. My beautiful wife Liz found this place after we finally escaped the disaster circus known as Planet Fitness, and WOW... what a difference. The energy here is positive, welcoming, clean, motivating, and filled with genuinely kind people instead of miserable attitudes and fake corporate smiles. I especially want to thank Kaylie. FITSI management, listen carefully: if I come back in a few weeks and Kaylie is NOT running this facility as manager, I'm gonna be personally offended at this point . That girl is absolutely incredible. Professional, kind, patient, welcoming, and naturally gifted with leadership. She treated our family with genuine care from day one and made us feel instantly comfortable. Some people are simply born for management positions, and she's clearly one of them. God bless her seriously. Also huge thank you to Ruby, who has been an amazing help every single time we've come in. Super friendly, helpful, positive attitude, and always willing to help without making people feel awkward or rushed. Both Kaylie and Ruby are exactly the type of people that make members WANT to come back. I wanted to support this gym. It's women-owned, so I thought that it would be a safe place. Unfortunately, my experience went from disappointing to legally concerning. I paid for VIP membership, but VIP services were frequently unavailable due to staffing shortages. There would only be one employee for the whole building, and you have to ask them to turn on the VIP services. In 6 months I never even got a chance to use any of them. I tried to use the coffee once, asked for permission, and they didn't have any cups out so I left. They're positioned as a luxury gym at $60/month, but it wasn't worth it. So I decided to cancel. I read through my agreement, and submitted a written cancellation to the email address listed on my membership agreement. I never received confirmation. Despite this, they attempted to charge me eight more times. When I called them to check, I was told I had to come in person. I came in, and then told he couldn't help me and I had to come back when the owner was available, and she's only in during weekdays, meaning I would have to take off work to come in. California's Automatic Renewal Law (Bus. & Prof. Code § 17602) is clear: if a consumer signs up online, the business must allow them to cancel online, immediately, without steps that obstruct or delay. Requiring repeated in-person visits is exactly what the law prohibits. Once I finally was able to take off work to come speak with the owner, she told me that the balance was "already in collections" and that there was nothing she could do, even though I have an email from that very morning stating otherwise. I really didn't want to post this review, but it seems like this gym has very predatory billing practices, so I feel it is my duty to warn others. It would also seem they are in violation of California's Automatic Renewal Law (Bus. & Prof. Code § 17602). I'm requesting that Fitsi Escondido withdraw my claim from collections, and provide me with written confirmation that my balance is $0. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with how my account was handled. I was clearly told I needed to freeze my membership 10 days before my billing date, which activated on Dec 29th so billing is on the 29th of Jan according to my statement. I submitted the freeze request on the 19th, exactly 10 days prior, following the receptionist advisement to the letter. He was there when I sent the request. Now I'm being told it had to be 10 days before the 28th instead? which contradicts my documented billing date. Because of this inconsistency, I was still charged and my account isn't even frozen until the 28th of Feb anyway. I effectively lost almost three weeks of gym time that I believed was already frozen. Policies should be transparent and consistent, especially when customers follow the instructions provided. This experience feels extremely misleading and very poorly managed. read more

Called 25x to cancel my membership, no one answers. When you come in, they'll tell you you can't cancel a membership through phone it has to be in person BUT when you receive the email cancellation after cancelling in person, it says you can reactivate your membership by phone. Funny how you can reactivate your membership on the phone but not cancel. Money hungry much? Alot of the "amenities," they run out of, ie. tanning spray and WIPES for equipments. How can you run a business and can't even keep up with these LITTLE things? No one is around to help, restock, or maintain any standard. The equipments are cheap and poorly maintained, always running into issues, had to switch to 3 different stair masters one time cause none were properly working. And all these to pay $60/month for a fake "luxury" gym. Finally, the blonde woman in the front, I've seen other reviews mention her, so clearly this isn't a one-off experience. She treats members poorly and comes across like she has no interest in actually helping or managing anything properly. My experience with Fitsi was great! They gave me a month membership for $1. After that it was $50/month and that includes the sauna, cold plunge, and other amenities. I had NO issues with customer service or the front desk. I even cancelled my membership because I moved and they allowed me to cancel before charging me more money. Sale manager said I had 3 weeks after they open to decide if I wanted to keep the membership and i woukd get charged a month after opening. They opened 2.5 weeks after he told me they would and then charged my card 3 days after the opened. It hadn't even been a month since I agreed to sig. up, there was no reason for my card to be charged 23 days after I signed up! Not to mention they took longer than anticipated to open and didn't even bother to make sure their equipment was ready to go. I thought that the environment was super great. The layout, the design, the clientele were all great. So the atmosphere is top tier in my opinion. You're not fighting for weights and you're not usually waiting on something. My main complaint though is the equipment. It feels fairly cheap. Technically it works but it doesn't feel sturdy. I think the atmosphere is great, but the machines and pads for the benches are just pretty cheap and uncomfortable. I want Fitsi to succeed and I think they can. Honestly, this is the worst gym I ever signed up for. It looks nice with the pictures but the customer service is horrible. The manager, Carly, only cares about money & it shows if you look at 95% of the reviews on here. Cheap equipment, customers being lied to about being charged, and having a hard time cancelling their account. I signed up during the soft opening & they did not have the cold plunge equipment ready. I called them to cancel and the person on the phone said , it will be taken care of and they would put the note on my account. A week later, I got charged. I called back & the associate said that there was a note on my account saying I wanted to cancel. 1 month passes by, I get charged again + the yearly fee. They charged me total of $180 ($60 + $120) . I called them and ask to speak to the manager. She said they will look at my contact. Sent an email to follow up, she said I cant can't get a refund because I needed to write a written note to properly cancel my account. If they trained their employees properly , maybe they woulve told me to come in with a written note during the two times that i called . The whole place is fake like plastic . I only stepped into that gym once. She failed to train her employees & would not give me a phone number to their corporate office. DO NOT sign up for this gym. I rather go to 24hr fitness or another gym, Atleast they treat their customers better. I'm in my 30s & a veteran.I have been to multiple gyms around San Diego. The only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is that there's always something broken or up for repair and sometimes it takes a while to fix it. The gym is a really cool concept, it's not crazy busy so most of the time you can easily jump on your desired machine without having to wait and the sauna is great. During the summer months it was extremely hot inside the gym which made every workout miserable. For this reason, I decided to cancel my membership. Clean, good staff, Level up kinda gym. I have went to planet for years or worked out at the gym I coach at which is Escondido Bootcamp. I needed a level up gym, something new and fresh to continue my personal fitness journey but also something close to where I live, a place my son would enjoy also and a place that is not crazy busy. Everyone so far that comes here comes in and gets their routine done no messing around and sitting on equipment for an hour but they also seem friendly. The equipment is cheaply made... -black paint on the bench bars is coming off -treadmills feel hollow and cheap -the row machines are not short people friendly (5'2") -chipped silver paint on hand dryer in the woman's bathroom -the accessories for the cable machine feel like plastic -broken machines -10 squat racks is a plus but I'd rather have two good quality racks, there are no mirrors and the weight plates are poor quailty -the list continues... *when we toured the facility before opening the rep said they woul have dumbbells over 100lbs, lies. Update, still haven't received a single response to any email i've sent them. I disputed the charge with my bank, and then today I received an auto email from the gym threatening to send me to collections for an overdue balance. They also indicated in the email that I would be charged for October, this gym keeps getting worse and worse. I also noticed they commented on my google review, saying they hadn't received any emails from me, well I've emailed the email they have listed over 5 times, they told me to email a different email which I also did, again no response. Not sure if this is an actual scam they run or just horrible disorganized management, either way completely unacceptable way to run a business. But, this seems to be a very common occurrence from the other reviews I'm seeing here. read more

BEWARE! Me and my husband won a "30 days free" at a raffle outside the Albertsons. So one day we go to Fitsi to try it out and it's the worst, NO AC, only fans and the equipment is one of everything. It seemed like a high school gym. The sauna is tiny and they really try to promote it's unique and trendy style but there's nothing trendy about it. They scam you and charge you the maintenance fee $59.99 and 1 month fee $59.99 upfront even though I cancelled before my 30 days. They sneak it in and say you have to cancel 10 days before the bill date! But it's still says to cancel before the 30 days on the contract. Avoid, they will get you with the contract and fees. I got charged all this and I only tried it ONCE! Worst experience. The reviews about how they overcharge you are true! They sneak in charges, it's all the same story! read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the way this gyms owner handles communication. The owner sent a text allowing us to have access to the gym after we left the company, which I started paying for a membership but that ended up being a complete mess and ultimately led to us to being banned. To make matters worse, we were personally escorted out because the owner called & told a staff member that we were breaking rules - an assumption that was completely wrong. On top of that, management did not honor the contract that promised me 30 extra days after cancellation but Instead, they went back on their word and told me that the day I canceled would be my final day, completely disregarding what was agreed upon. She failed to explain what lead her to making this decision of now banning us but we respected it and bought a membership elsewhere. This kind of treatment is unacceptable. The owner clearly needs to work on professionalism, honoring agreements, and communicating honestly with their members. Misinformation, false assumptions, and broken promises should never be the reason someone loses access to a gym they trusted. I don't know where all these are negative reviews are coming from. I signed up for the upgraded membership 2 weeks ago and I honestly love it. The gym has barely anyone in it (although this may change as memberships pick up), the place is clean, and I think the amenities are really nice and a highlight of my week. The equipment is great and brand new. There are like 8 stair masters so I envision even when the place gets busy I won't have to wait in line for one like I did at LA fitness. I did a spray tan just to try it (first one in my life), and I might be hooked now. It is so fun having a nice warm glow for summer. Only a few tiny things that weren't ideal but aren't deal breakers for a 5 star review. (Hint hint to the owners if you are reading this!). - No Soap / shampoo in the shower. I started to keep my own bar in my gym bag. Not a huge problem, Its just I don't trust anyone else to bring their own soap and I'm sharing the same cold plunge and sauna with everyone else - no handle on the inside of the sauna. Either someone closes you in from the outside or you awkwardly try to pull at the window from the inside. Its not a problem getting out if you just push. but kinda awkward. - Same handle feedback for the showers. - Wish there was a way to code in for the VIP area. As it is now there isn't a good system to keep people who paid for it seperated from the people that didn't. - There is a culture of wearing socks in the sauna. Not sure if its just me thats wierded out by this. I am used to European style saunas where you get in practically naked but I'm sitting next to someone with their germy socks on. Signed up for this gym about a week before they opened cause they told me they had a deal that was just for today where we would get a month of membership for $10 and would be able to cancel before it would charge us the $60+ so signed up right away! Not even a week into them opening, I get that charge for the next month. When my partner and I asked about it, they just said yea, that deal was a mistake the owners told us that deal and then switched it. When we wanted a refund and wanted to cancel, they made it soooo hard. Also one of the middle aged blonde ladies is REALLY rude. You go to ask her for help, she points you to the front knowing she's one of the owners, felt rude to not answer a simple question about the ice bath. When we went to cancel, they said the best way to get a refund is to say you're having a financial crisis. Like uhm... excuse me? I just don't appreciate being scammed. They ended up letting us continue to go through the rest of the month but felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable after that especially with the blonde lady owner. Don't think I can ever feel comfortable to going back there. Will never even think to sign up here or suggest to friends. Another thing is that if I were to be paying over $60 for a gym membership, I'd want the bathrooms to be better than what they have. Feel icky walking into the bathrooms and would never shower there. Still, I signed up for the $10 trial which was supposed to be 30 days. After I signed up, the kid was like "oh actually it's 20 days, you need to give a 10 day notice to cancel so you don't get charged". So, I said that's fine. 6 days after I signed up, they charged me the full $39.99. I wouldn't have signed up for a $10 trial if it was actually just a made up promotion? I called the manager (was a male). He was nice, but basically said "we trained our employees wrong, but you can't get a refund." So, there is no solution although he fully admitted to their mess up. They only have only have one speaker that's at the entrance barely hear it throughout the room not only that but they take our money and can't afford an add free playlist. This gym is absolutely ridiculous all the members be judging and giving you a face. Similar to many other customers, I am having issues with continuing to be charged and getting threatened to be taken to collections despite properly canceling my membership within 24 hrs of signing an agreement. I went to the gym once and it was dirty, the front desk staff were rude and unhelpful, and the equipment was junk so I canceled immediately in writing, as instructed in the customer agreement. I never got a response, emailed and called multiple times and the number never works and nobody ever responds to my emails. I got charged nearly $200 after canceling and had to dispute the charge with my credit card because I couldn't get ahold of anyone at the gym. My credit card has stopped them from being able to bill me but now the parent company ABC fitness keeps contacting me about overdue charges and threatening collections. I called ABC directly and they said there's nothing they can do and that they've also reached out to the gym directly on my behalf twice to ask them to process the cancelation and they also cannot get a response. This place has some predatory, shady practices and I am going to be reporting them to the BBB and CA attorney general if this doesn't get taken care of immediately. Bottom line, don't waster your time. Their prices are far higher than other local gyms, for far less. I pay $20/mo for my 24 hr fitness membership which includes much more (and better) equipment, more space, group classes, a spin studio, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room....all without additional prices. I've read a lot of negative reviews before I decided to come in and check this place out. I had called asking about passes and the girl at the front desk basically explained to me that they're charging more money because they want more of an elite crowd compared to just a busy gym. I received a free 30 day guest pass on my door so decided to check it out. First thing the girl at the front desk said when I mentioned I had a 30 day pass with that I can join and still get 30 days free. I explain that's not how a 30 take guest pass works and I wanted to try it before I decided to join. The gym appeared nice equipment is decent the back area "VIP "section appeal to me. But I was extremely disappointed. The cold plunge was filthy hair floating not working properly. I went back four different occasions to try to use it and given another chance, but each time it was still not working and still very dirty. I spoke to the co-owner of the facility and brushed off my concerns like it wasn't a problem. Also, I would call four or five times to try to get information if it was working or not, and it went to some strange voicemail with no place to leave a message I told her that as well she basically gave me the look like while you have a free 30 day pass so you're not a valued client. I signed up about a month ago and this gym has been pretty good so far. No real issues. I really like that the gym has plenty of space and it doesn't feel like everyone is on top of each other. Great music and it's usually at a good volume to keep you upbeat and motivated. They just opened and are still working out some glitches here and there but overall it's a good gym. The members seem pretty chill too. Staff is nice and helpful. Definitely a better clientele here at this club vs Planet weirdo. Is it perfect? No. But is any gym perfect? No. The LA Fitness on El Norte Pkwy, now that gym sucks. The good thing is, you're still able to get a solid workout in here and go about your business. read more
