Updates: So this Location is convenient, clean and most of the equipment gets fixed relatively quickly. When I alerted staff to equipment being broken I do see that they are listening and fixing the equipment in a timely fashion. Night shift guy does a good job of picking up and cleaning up around the place. Loved the renovations they did to this site a about a year ago or more now. The Cross fit area is perfect and has allowed us to do so much more with our workout. LA Fitness has about everything you need, basketball court, dry heat sauna, hot tub, pools, studios and other side courts. Only thing I would add is an outdoor tennis court behind the place and a track going around it for running. I don't like doing cardio much in the inside. When I do Cardio in the inside, (winter) the upstairs is great! Love the overall layout of this place. What I expect in a gym! It's a big gym and a convenient location. My machines are always available and I go around or just before rush hour. It used to not be this way. Rush hour is usually packed. I like the elliptical because it burns the most calories in the least amount of time but there is always something wrong with the machines whether the TV isn't working or the heart rate doesn't show or something else . I visited this gym several times while visiting my dad who was at the hospital next door. Malcolm couldn't have been kinder in helping me set up a guest pass when I was under tremendous stress and it was so nice to have a place to escape and get my body feeling better. Honestly, the whole place seems pretty nice for a mid-level gym. There is plenty of equipment and I really wish I could have used the racquetball courts. Poorly managed. Belongings get stolen. You can't afford to forget your gloves in the changing room, you will never find them again and they never get turned in to the front desk. The bathrooms are mostly unkempt, grown ass men who can't clean up after themselves. Also, locks get picked and credit cards stolen and used in the nearest target to this gym. read more

After a somewhat traumatic experience signing up for this gym, I was hesitant to keep coming back. I felt out of place, awkward, and because I didn't sign up for their personal training package (which ended with me in tears after being pushed and pushed, until I had to explain to the employee that my credit debt was more important than a personal trainer), I felt super uncomfortable. I have been in sales. I get it. They want to sell the packages and they are told to be aggressive and get that sale, but when you say no and no thank you so many times that you embarrassingly sob in front of employees, enough is enough. Even after that experience, I decided to stick it out through the 6 month contract and make the best of it. I began coming regularly in the early morning when the pool was usually empty. Mariana was the young lady at the front desk most days. I decided to stop and ask her how to find the confidence to work out without sticking out like a sore thumb. She gave me some tips and simply spoke to me as a person. It made such a difference just having a conversation with her without feeling like I'm being judged for not knowing what to do. So I kept coming back. With each day, it began to feel more like a routine, and I was ready to do more. I stopped by the front desk on my way out and asked Mariana about the classes. I was interested in starting with the yoga class, and she even mentioned wanting to try that particular instructor's yoga class. The thought of just walking into a room of strangers to stretch my body out and around in front of gave me crazy anxiety. I really wanted to push myself to new limits, so I was ready to take on the tiny challenge of looking ridiculous in a room full of people. Mariana stated she would go to that class if I wanted a familiar face, so I took her up on the offer. I went to the class at the noted time, and she and a whole room full of people yoga'd with me and it was completely fine. And since then, I've found my routine that fits ME and not everyone else. Often times, I think that maybe we forget the impact we have on others. Just that small amount of help and conversation she had with me those few times changed my feelings on continuing to go. The gym itself is okay. The instructors I've been in classes with (I've done many now aside from yoga) have all been fantastic. I'm getting exactly what I'm wanting out of the gym now, and I'm really grateful for the sweet young woman at the front desk who gave me confidence and encouragement to continue my journey on my health and wellness, physically and mentally. read more

This place, to me is not as bad as other reviewers say. Someone pointed out the cleanliness issue but it looks much cleaner now, I have been coming here for a month now. The equipment is updated and treadmills and ellipticals have individual tv screens which is nice. I am leaving three stars because there are not enough dumbbells especially the "popular" ones like 10 lbs and 12.5 lbs ones. They are usually taken. Also, this place doesn't really encourage or ask people to clean and sanitize the equipment after use. I see people wiping before using anything. I see people just leaving without cleaning at all and apparently it is okay here. Yikes! I used to go to planet fitness where they had about 40-50 spray bottles at the entrance, asking people to take one and clean as they go. This LA fitness does have some spray bottles at the front desk, but not many people use it and there are not many signs encouraging cleaning. The membership prices keep going up, so if you are considering it you should do it now- if you wait the price will just be higher later. When I signed up as a new member I was told I can have "one free assessment with a trainer" so I made an appointment, but it was not with an actual personal trainer. It was just 30 minutes of the gym staff selling the personal training program to me. All sales talk and I still don't get why they call it one free session with a trainer or something to make it sound like it will actually benefit me or, it's a trial of what I will actually get from the program. According to them, there is $149 initiation fee for personal trainer program IN ADDITION to the one I had already paid to sign for the gym membership. Each "session" is just 30 minutes, and if you see the trainer once a week, it is $240/month. But 3 times a week was recommended to me which is over $400. Today, there are so many fitness/ training/ coaching resources offered online. I could find independent trainers outside of the gym for less, or sign up for an online coaching program for less. I was just not impressed by how they advertised the "free assessment" to me which turned out to be a total waste of my time. In the past when I joined other gyms they actually gave me useful advice and tips during the so-called "one free session with a trainer". Instead, here I was asked questions about my current weight and goals and shown their prices. Come on LA Fitness, you could do better. read more

This is the latest LA Fitness to pop up in Indy. It acts as the replacement for the last, sad Bally Total Fitness on Moller Rd. Of course, everything is brand spanking new and shiny, which is nice. Curious to see how long that lasts. The cardio machines each have their own TVs so you're not stuck watching Glenn Beck or Home Shopping Network or whatever as you are at the other LA Fitnesses in town. read more

The manager at this location, Sean is on a straight power trip. I came to this location to add a membership. The membership person was clearly MIA. Sean kept saying he was in the restroom and told me to have a seat. After several minutes I asked for the manager. He stated he is the manager. I then asked if he could help me and he said no. And he was rude. I do not recommend talking to him if you have a customer service issue. He is bad for the LA Fitness brand and needs some training. Urgently. read more

Been coming here for a few weeks and gave them a chance to clean up their act......literally! No toilet paper in the rest rooms, feces in the toilets and floor, and no one cleans the restrooms after reporting to one of the staff members. I don't typically take pictures but you have to see this to believe it! I waited a few minutes to see if the staff member I reported the restrooms too would do anything. Nothing was done I. The hour I was there nothing was done to clean up the men's locker room. More concerning was the fact I mentioned this to some of the members and they were ok with the facilities. Disappointing as this was my third time and the first two visits were forgiving but this is ridiculous. One last thing...don't get me wrong, I like to see beautiful women too. But if you want to get customer service from the staff, don't think about it as they will spend most of their time flirting and ignoring you. If they do respond, it's jus let to get back to flirting. I changed the rating from two stars to one star after I got more upset thinking about the corrientes I had this morning. At the end of the day you get out of anything what you want. I give this place a 4/5 because this LA Fitness has new equipment, is for the most part pretty clean, people are pretty friendly (but I also grew up in the hood, so take that as you'd like), and Henry is the best spinning instructor ever. And its better than the other LA Fitness gyms I've been to. The cons? It's always full and the women in the sauna are always chatty (shut it ladies!). I go to this location because it's the closest to my house and I have a work out buddy here. Otherwise, I probably would not go. No matter what day or time I go, it is ALWAYS packed. My standing workout date is on Tuesdays at 8:30. It is a miracle if we can ever find two cardio machines empty next to each other (or at all). And you can pretty much forget about getting a treadmill most of the time. Classes are ok, but nothing special. I would love to see more cardio equipment or another location added to ease the crowding. Also, the instructors could be better trained. read more

I've only been to this location a few times, so this review may be updated at a later time. So far, I've only used the cardio equipment. I go during off peak times to avoid crowds. The equipment is newer compared to the Glendale location, but that location has WiFi. I do like the individual TVs on each machine at this location. I have yet to use the bathroom, locker room, pools or classes. The staff that I've encountered has been friendly. The main areas appear clean. I wish more people would clean the machines after use, but that's a personal thing. read more

This place has just gotten worse! I've always had a problem with how dirty the weight room is and how the weights are just scattered everywhere with no one picking them up. I figured that the staff at least re-racked them in the evening. No such luck, I went there this morning when they opened and it looked like a tornado had went through the weight room. Is it really too much to ask for the employees to do a quick run though every evening and put up the weights? I guess so. This laziness is reflected on the clientele, no one picks up anything! Or they'll load 800 pounds onto the leg press and just leave it there. Ridiculous! Speaking of the clientele, they are starting to drive me bonkers as well. I've seen people who monopolize a squat rack for 30 minutes, doing like 15 sets with the most atrocious form I've ever seen. Guys working out in blue jeans, huge groups of guys who are just there to chat with each other and dudes who rather creepily hit on any female brave enough to wander into the free weights area. Also, they've developed a bad habit of putting up vendors in the gym in the evenings. I've seen people selling cable subscriptions, jewelry and even a family selling freaking cookware. Really? Does ANYONE going to a gym want to be sold this stuff? The joke is on me though because I'll likely keep my membership. It's the closest gym to my house. Would I recommend it to anyone though? Don't mind that so much, but it would be great if LA Fitness could teach its members to rerack their weights and what "working in" means because they don't seem to understand that either. This LA fitness is pretty convenient for me being right by my house. They have racquetball courts, basketball, and swimming available. There is newer equipment with televisions on each cardio machine. If you're looking for an awesome all body workout, you have to try Johnny's cycling class. It is a non stop hour of pedaling using all the gears on the bikes and doing a variety of moves like jumps and push-ups. The facilities usually pretty clean and the parking lot is well lit. Make sure your belongings in your truck or in a locker as they've had repeated reports of theft. read more

Anyone that gives this gym less than 3 starts should take a trip to the Glendale LA and then count your blessings for being a member of this one instead. Equipment seemed to be updated and their treadmills have individual TVs so you can choose what you want to watch. The only downside to this place that I saw was that their pool is only 3 lanes. But, since it was about 30% as full as my normal LA, I had a lane to myself and an open one next to me for all of my swim. It's a bit hard to navigate to this place off the highway, and the exterior and age/location of the building might make you skeptical, but it's been completely updated inside and is a great place to workout. read more

This is the newest LA Fitness in the city and it shows. Most of the clubs don't have computers on the spin bikes, most of them also don't have individual TVs at the cardio machines...this one does. It's very clean, and there's plenty of parking. It's also right off I-465...you can see the sign from the interstate. Being so new though, they haven't fleshed out their class schedule as much, so you can't just show up any time between 5 and 8 and assume there will be something for you to do besides slave on a treadmill. The 5:30 spin classes fill up fast...like if you aren't there to sign up by 5:10 you'll likely not get a bike. You can only sign up 30 minutes ahead of time though, so keep that in mind. It is a corporate gym and is staffed by sales people trying to sell you memberships to make the most profit. They'll almost always go lower. Be willing to pay a higher initiation fee up front, and the savings will pay for itself over the course of your membership. Remember, you only re-initiate if you quit going (and why would you do that?). The other nice thing is there are LA Fitnesses all over the place. Your membership is good at all of them...so if you're on vacation or visiting the fam you'll still be able to get to the gym. I still hate that LA Fitness doesn't provide towels. I hate thinking of how much paper towel waste is created. I would think this goes without saying, but PUT A LOCK ON YOUR LOCKER and don't leave things like briefcases and purses sitting in the cabin of your car while you work out. Duh. read more

I've been a member of this gym for almost a year now. I've been training with Tommy M. twice a week and wouldn't trade him for the world! The gym itself is fairly clean, as long as the cleaning crew stays on top of things. There are a lot of people who probably shouldn't be at the gym (not actually doing much working out, chatting up the ladies, general loitering, no idea what they are doing...), but that's nothing to blame the gym for. The front desk: Marissa is very friendly and always willing to help. Most of the time it feels like they just take your swipe, swipe it, give it back, without much acknowledgement. The sales group: Meh. The trainers: LOVE THEM!!! Once you find the right trainer for your needs who you can communicate with well, you'll be hooked. All of them are friendly, care about all the clients, and want to help you reach your goals. I work with Tommy, but I've received diet and exercise ideas/tips from all the guys at one point or another simply because they want to! The classes: haven't attended many, but Marva's pilates class, Marcella's aqua fit class, and the zumba classes are fantastic! And classes aren't just for girls : ) Tips: 1. bring a lock for your locker 2. be flexible with equipment, maybe try something new if your usual is taken 3. for the love of pete, don't leave anything that even remotely looks valuable in your car! People have been broken into, but it always starts with them leaving a purse, wallet, Ipod, or something that resembles value in their front seat. They're idiots. Common sense tells you to lock up your valuables. So be smart instead of blaming the gym for something they can't control. read more

So I usually go to Glendale but occasionally I will go to this one to spice it up. I really like the way the place is laid out and is new and has that feeling however New isn't always better I learned. The equipment is newer and maybe most people like that. I just don't. But weights are weights. It looks nicer than most LAs in Indy but it is somewhat smaller. Gets just as crowded. A few times I've been I've seen customers leave their garbage behind and not cleaned up after (who's fault is this?) I'll mark this against the place though. That's huge to me. The gym is nice and new with plenty of machines and lots of classes if that's your thing. I like the mat pilates (wish it was more than once a week) and some of the zumba instructers (Billie and Rosie). But one of the salespeople, Kye, is rude, dishonest, and unprofessional. If you want to join this gym get someone else to sign you up. Kye will lie and try to sign you for twice what everyone else pays, and he won't honor promises made to you during the contract process. read more

First of all The Trainer Ryan S. is the best. If it wasn't for him I would have canceled my membership long ago. If they loose him they are going to loose a lot of members. I have been a member since Aug. 2012, right after the club opened. What I've noticed is piss poor management. The place is dirty most of the time. If you go after 5 pm it's crowded and really dirty. I go at 8 am every day and quite often it's dirty then too. The men's locker room only gets clean if both the male and female cleaners are working. Today the man didn't come in until noon. The soap and paper towels are empty a lot. When I complained about it they told me that the club had run out of supplies. (Target is 1 block away and I'm sure they sell soap) The ceiling was leaking in the Men's locker room so they took down all the ceiling tiles and put a ladder under the leak with yellow caution tape around it. It was there for almost 2 weeks. I never saw anyone working on the problem, The garbage is only emptied in the morning so after 3 pm it is usually overflowing. There are always bottles lying around and I have yet to see a recycling bin. There was an empty water bottle sitting on the side of the pool for a week. I have said something to both the GM and the Operations Mgr. both ladies apologized but neither of them actually got up from their desk and did anything about the problem. I have been a manager at a retail store for a long time if someone came to me and said that there was a problem in the restroom,or a spill on the floor, and maintenance was gone, guess what, I cleaned the bathroom, or mopped the floor. I'm paying $480 a month for Personal training and $20 a month for club membership, and LA Fitness is eager to get my money but not eager to deliver some customer service. read more

Make sure you read the agreement very well before signing up for a personal trainer. They insisted i signed up for one year of personal training and refused to adjust it when i told them i only asked for between two to three months depending on the results. Who signs a one year personal trainer contract for about $400 a month for one year when i already have a one year gym membership. They refused to connect me to management when I filed a complaint telling me the management did not deem it neccessary speaking to me as they will not tell me anything different. They are nice when you are signing up but rude when you need to address an issue with them. read more

The WORST management and "training" staff. They take pride in being disrespectful, rude, and discriminatory. There are FAR too many newer and nicer gyms within the area that are more apt to provide professional and at the very least, the standard of customer service that this particular la fitness lacks. To add insult to injury, you can count on several machines donning an "out of order" sign for weeks at a time. The training area is not functional nor an efficient utilization of space as it remains empty most hours of the day, even when they try to give away free training.........and depending upon your gender and ethnicity, you will be condescendingly told to leave the otherwise EMPTY space, which is indicative of the manager and trainers' false sense of selves..... read more

Been to majority of the LA Fitnesses in the Indy area. This is the newest one and the cool thing is they have tvs connected to the cardio machines. The only thing that stinks about this place is people do not know how to use some of the machines properly and it's always under maintenance. It feels like it takes them 5 years to fix the machines. Classes are great to take especially if you want to try something different. I like this LA fitness because it's not as busy compare to the one on Keystone. I gave it 4 stars because some of the staff members could be more personable. The staff members on keystone were very personable and knew you by your name. read more

I think this gym has changed for the better recently under its new management. I've been a member since it was opened, and the gym is a lot cleaner, the staff is a lot more friendly and professional, and the equipment is getting repaired finally. The font desk girls were helpful with my billing questions and my issues were resolved quickly by the manager. My only qualm is that members don't rack their weights and the tvs on the treadmills only have 12 channels. Other than that, this gym is changing for the better, and I hope it continues on the upward path. read more
