I had a scheduled tour at LA Fitness at 8:00 a.m. on February 6, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience was unsatisfactory. Upon my arrival, I was not acknowledged by the employee at the reception desk. Following a staff change, the situation did not improve. The second employee informed me that she was the only staff member present, was unable to conduct a tour, and that no one else was available to do so. She attempted to contact the General Manager, but he did not respond. I was then asked to wait until a manager arrived, which was not going to happen as i do have a job. I later received a call from the General Manager, during which I shared my feedback regarding the experience. A new tour was subsequently scheduled for the following day. read more

I've been coming to this gym for almost a year, and I honestly don't have any problems. I'm not high maintenance so a lot of the lower rated experiences are not the same as mine. The machines work, the staff is always nice to me and my son, who is deaf and autistic. They have a little "store" that sells smoothies, energy drinks and protein snacks. Is it perfect, no... but I don't need it to be. They have everything I need to get a good workout in and after my workout I am able to go sit in the sauna... which is a perk for me! read more

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an incident that occurred at your facility today involving the general manager. I have been a consistent member at this location since recovering from a brain aneurysm that left me with limited function on my left side. This facility's proximity to my home has been essential to my rehabilitation and continued health. Until today, my experiences with staff have been overwhelmingly positive, professional, and welcoming. During my children's Christmas break, I decided to use the available 7-day VIP passes so my children could try the facility before I committed to purchasing memberships for them. When we initially checked in, the general manager informed me that my children needed identification. I immediately returned home, retrieved their IDs, and came back without issue. Prior to returning, I also purchased a full membership for my oldest daughter. Upon returning, I attempted to register my other two children for the VIP passes. One of my daughters is currently in the process of changing phones and does not yet have a phone number. She politely asked if she could temporarily use my number. Before I could respond, the general manager abruptly and rudely said no and stated that "as a mother" I needed to get my child a phone number. He then told me I should not be using VIP passes at all and instead should purchase full memberships for my children. The interaction escalated further when I requested my daughter's ID back so I could seek assistance from another staff member. He refused initially and stated that all employees worked for him and would do what he told them to do. He then accused me of "crying" and said my issue was that I was not "having my way." This interaction occurred in front of my children, which made the situation even more distressing. Eventually, another staff member assisted me without any issue, and my children and I were able to complete our workout. One of your employees later apologized to me for the general manager's behavior, which I appreciated. I have never been spoken to in such a belittling, disrespectful, and unprofessional manner--especially by someone in a leadership role. Being told how to parent, spoken down to, and treated with hostility is completely unacceptable. This behavior is especially concerning given my medical history and the importance of this facility to my recovery and well-being. I am now forced to reconsider continuing our memberships beyond January. No member--especially a paying one--should ever be treated in this way. I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately. I would appreciate acknowledgment of this complaint and information regarding any steps taken to ensure this does not happen to another member. Thank you for your time and attention. read more

Only had a three day pass due to being in town for a short while; but this is a huge, clean, well organized gym with a Pool!!! The staff is really nice and welcoming. It is quiet and clean. There is also a sauna. The parking lot is huge...and yes trucks could move aside better once when I went, but they never seemed to block the road. Highly recommend this gym. read more

I been coming to this gym since 2023 and it's just dirty. The bathrooms are dirty only one sink have a working soap dispenser. The toilets are never flushed, they need to upgrade to the self flushing toilets. The floor have paper towels all over the place. Now let's go to the lockers we have a swimmer program now with kids it takes a month for the kids finger prints to be removed from the mirror showing it's not wiped down. The floors have hair all over the place and the locker sinks one dispenser work and two sinks dont work. The gym needs to close down for a week and get renovating done. A cleaning staff needs to go into the budget the employees are not keeping the gym clean. The sit on their phones all day and just greet you checking in , pull trash and pick up the sanitizing sheets. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE HERE STAY AWAY!!! I recently purchased a membership here. The machines work okay, the free weights are unorganized, and the sauna doesn't work very well and is very dirty. The staff here is extremely rude. The personal trainers are very scummy and racist; they won't even help you out. The people who go here are horrible too. Not Bad At All! I just moved from Miami to McDonough, and I was apprehensive that this gym would be TRASH due to all the reviews I read. I decided to give it a shot anyways. The gym is spotless, and due to the new equipment, all machines are brand new, basically. The gym is much smaller than where I came from, but you can easily find everything. I've been there several times, and it's never BUSY like I am used to it. They have ONE SMITH MACHINE, which is CRAZY! That is probably the only machine that I see people waiting around for. Recent transplant from LosAngeles to McDonough. It's been a good six months, away from a gym, that hits all the sweet spots for me, including a pool. Within minutes, the General Manager Sidney, walked me through the membership process and set up my assessment. He and the staff were professional and kind. I joined this gym in late May of 2021, mainly because I wanted to swim. It's a big box gym that has some Covid protocols in place. During the pandemic, there was plenty of PPE to wipe down machines and some people wore masks and others didn't. Since I work from home, it was a relief to have somewhere to go to get out of the house for a bit. I've still been going here for just about a year now and it's a gym. I find it to be generally pretty clean. They have all the standard stuff at a gym and the staff is friendly. The pool is sometimes not working, but that seems to be the standard at most gyms. There's a hot tub and an infrared sauna as well. This location has a basketball court that is always in use. I mostly stick to the weights, some of the machines and some cardio. There are also classes for cardio, weights, SPIN classes, Pilates, yoga, Zumba, etc. I'm happy with my experience. read more

This location is ghetto! Save your money and go elsewhere!! We are a Military family that recently was re-stationed from GA to KS. After finding that there was no LA Fitness in KS, the app directed me call my home store to cancel my membership. I called my Home store in McDonough GA and was told that I needed to call back today between 9am-5pm EST, to speak with the Operations Manager Ariana to cancel my membership. I called back as instructed and was told that "her personal policy" was not to cancel memberships over the phone. This is not the company's policy-this is her policy. I offered to email her the Military orders, because I honestly don't have time to go back and fourth about a gym membership. However she continues to advise that I need to come in the store. When she was tired of speaking reasonably, she cold drops me into the customer service line which is closed at 9:36am on a Tuesday morning! If this isn't ridiculous enough, I called back to try to resolve the issue; Arianna then advised me to call 949-255-7200 at 10pm because "her personal policy" somehow justified her unwillingness to assist me. I usually don't write reviews about ignorance, but somehow this is exactly what this is...poor customer service and ignorance! I would never utilize LA Fitness again! I will share these sentiments with fellow Military family I know! LA Fitness does not provide any Military discounts and they make it incredibly difficult to cancel your memberships after PCSing. My personal observation is that LA Fitness is not a Military friendly company- I will pass every time on companies like this! read more

I've been a member of LA fitness for several years and decided to come to this gym while on a work trip . Came on a Tuesday evening and stayed for about 30 mins before I decided to leave . When I walked in there was no staff at the front desk, which I overlooked. The gym was pretty busy at this time which was expected . Most of the cardio machines were free which is good for those seeking to do cardio workouts. The weight room was impossible to navigate through and had heavy traffic. Unfortunately, people tend to hog weights and machines so do not plan on getting anything done here. Machinery is also a bit outdated . As others mentioned this gym is not clean; I saw roaches crawling around during my visit. I recommend not putting any items on the ground. The last straw for me was when I was approached by staff to ask if I had abandoned my child in the kids club mid workout . Really strange as this was my first visit and I don't have kids haha. Definitely recommend staying clear of this gym. read more

Zumba instructors are excellent but the ceiling in the studio leaks so it's been 2 months of no class in the room. No estimated time of repair completion and the management has asked basket ball players to forego use of court to facilitate Zumba class and basketball ball players are saying no. It's a liability that causes hostility between basketball players and Zumba students all while gym collects ALL our membership fees. AVOID THIS LOCATION. There should be no problem getting all the classes back up and running since the pandemic restrictions have been lifted. We have heard all kinds of dumb excuses as to why the Aqua class is not open. The Aqua instructor we had before the pandemic is still available. The problem is Norma the fitness coordinator did not like her because she is old. She is dependable and on time. Those young girls half show up. We want Maxine back on the day shift 9-10 every day. Norma does not care for the elderly she barely speaks if you speak to her. She is an awful coordinator. The other fitness centers have started their classes back up. Maxine is still teaching at one place in Buckhead. I think LA fitness should get rid of NORMA. read more

Looks clean when you walk in But then the smells smacks you in the face. A mixture of sweat and dirty mop water. I've been to many other LaFitnesses throughout the country and I know the quality varies from location to location because the owners are different But LAWD. This place is a dump. It's outdated and not well taken care of. The sauna has broken benches that pinch you when you sit. And you can tell the pool is rarely properly cleaned. I came across this LA Fitness visiting my family in the area. I am a LA Fitness instructor in another state and I was MORTIFIED to see how rude and unprofessional the front desk was as well as the club manager!! I corrected the manager on an LA Fitness policy (this is not a franchisee, rules are the same with every club) and he responded with, "You must be new here." Umm...no those are the policies!! Ahhh Los Angeles Fitness where do I begin. Let me start by saying I've exercised at most of the LA Fitness locations around the Atlanta metro area with this location being the farthest south that I've traveled to work out. The very first thing you'll notice about this particular LA Fitness is it's proximity to the exit ramp on highway 75. From the outside of the McDonough location you'll notice that the building looks up-to-date and fairly new. When you walk into the location the staff members at the front desk are always attentive and happy like they just ate a snickers bar. The locker rooms are fairly clean yet I wish they had TVs in the locker rooms so I can listen to SportsCenter as I pop my pre-workout pills and give myself a weight lifting pep talk. The equipment is fairly new and the weights are usually re-racked in their proper weight section. The staff at this particular location are pretty cool. They actually talk to you and joke around but don't get in your way. I like that. The fellow LA Fitness members are okay, like any gym you'll have your watchers and your 'I wear my sunglasses in the gym' types but I haven't witnessed anyone (or anything) out of the ordinary at this particular location. The saunas are hot and the shower areas are pretty clean. Sidenote: I don't understand people who complain about a sauna being 'too hot'. IT'S A SAUNA!!! An ultra hot sauna means you don't have to sit in the sauna longer and you can be on your way faster. If you can't take the heat get out of the sauna, now. I have not swam in the pool at this particular location but it looks like someone is always taking advantage of the amenity. I must say that this location is pretty packed between 5-9am, 4-8pm and 8-2pm on Saturdays. But seriously, what clean and fairly new gym isn't packed during that time? If you're in the area and you feel like exercising this wouldn't be a bad choice. Just make sure you bring a snickers for the staff at the front desk and you'll be fine. read more

This location recently got a new manager. The new manager is much more personable compared to the previous manager. She greets you with a smile as you enter the gym, which helps to get your workout started on a positive note. The gym is clean and lately all of the equipment has been in working order. I current have an issue with my knee and I am limited to the cardio exercises that I can engage in. My doctor suggested that I use the pool, which I did, but the chlorine broke Me out, which earned me a trip to the doctors office to discover that I'm allergic to the chlorine. So the only other option that I could come up with is to hula hoop, with as much padding under my foot as possible to help protect my knee. Before I started to hoop, I spoke with the new manager and asked her permission to use the racquetball room, which I did receive. So I started hula hooping in there. When it was not too hot outdoors I would hoop outdoors. I hooped about two weeks outdoors, before it started to rain and I ended up back in the racquetball room. I'm not sure of this gentleman's position in the gym. The only interaction I've ever had with him is getting kicked out of the racquetball room. On this particular day I briefly left the room to go to the ladies room. I see the guy taking the new manager to the room that I was using pointing out whatever. As I was leaving I asked the manager if I could still use the room. She said that the room could not be used because another upper level manager said that the rooms could only be used for racquetball. I would have had no issue with that if the rules applied to every LA Fitness member. They didn't even check the other rooms to see if other people were in them working out. They came directly to my room, pointed out the issues and went about their day. The new manager did brainstorm about some places that I could possibly hoop. I felt like I would have been on display or in the way if I had gone with her suggestions but appreciated the effort. The next day, I was back outside, but there were two gentlemen jump roping in two of the RB rooms, and were never disturbed. One of the guys jumped for an entire hour and no one ever said anything to him. I did not understand what the big issue was with me hooping. Not only did I protect the floor, I remained basically in one spot while the jump ropers were all over the place. So I brought this to the new managers attention, she immediately led me to the desk of the gentleman. Again I'm not sure of his title or position. So he starts talking about my contract and court fees, which I do not mind paying, but it seems like the rules were changing as I sat there. I knew about court fees but never had I heard that you had to pay a fee to simply use the court. So I was told there would be a court fee to use the racquetball court. Before I had this conversation I called corporate who in turn called management and I was told that I could hoop in the room as long as nobody wanted to play racquetball. I never got the opportunity to use it after my conversation with cooperate because the rules started changing for me. As I stated to management there is no consistency in the rules. I know for a fact that I'm singled out, but what manager or staff member would ever admit that. I have no issue with the rules as long as they're not made up during a conversation specifically for me. When things don't make sense I seek understanding and clarity so I call corporate. This review is for the McDonough, GA, LA gym. The operations mgr., Ty H. was professional and courteous. My husband and I wanted information and a tour to determine if we wanted to join this center. Ty gave us a tour which caused him to go to lunch later than planned. We realized he was very busy and people were coming in but he used his 'people skills and organizational skills' to make things happen. We joined because of Ty. We recommend you support him with other workers like him and give him a raise. He makes LA Fitness look good. We have seen bad customer service at other centers. Please make this a 'model center' which begins with hiring the right people. The right people will keep it clean, especially the whirlpool and swimming pool, machines working and respond courteously to customers. read more

I went to the gym with an open mind after reading so many negative reviews. One of the representatives showed me around and as we walked he was bothered by some of my questions I asked. He than showed me the numbers $ to join the gym. I asked if I could get the 7 day trial and he said no. . I know all of the LA fitness look the same but I really wanted to see the atmosphere before spending to much money. I told him I would take my money somewhere else. I don't recommend this facility. When I started my membership with L.A. Fitness, I was looking forward to a great experience; unfortunately, several months later I was relocating and wanted to cancel my membership. My gym membership with the help of Shaun S. was extremely easy to cancel; his patience, attention to detail, and professionalism was much appreciated. However, when it came to my personal trainer membership, it has been a nightmare. Leadership does not make time to respond to their customers and they continue to charge you for services you are no longer using. Fortunately, Sydney C. understood my frustration and was able to help me with that situation, I appreciate his patience, empathy, and professionalism. For this, these employees get five stars. It's unfortunate that the employees are more concerned with the members than that of their supervisors. Additionally, the gym could use a dependable cleaning staff and professional development for the leadership team. read more
