Its about the workout and not social hour though so I will say the eq is getting a bit dated...its in good shape but many of us go to ina for a change in machines. Namely "hammer strength" The sled grass area which is now open to everyone (Thx for that) needs a different spot out of the middle of the gym and much more of it. PLEASE...Its time for some new eq and/or rearranging before the new gym opens further north! read more

This place is located on the East side of Oracle Rd in Oro Valley. It is located higher than the road so it is hard to see from the road. The green area is very small (see photo) and no one was using it. They do have 4 squat racks and it was not very crowded. Also a lot of retired people were in there probably for the location. So not much competition for equipment. It would have been better if the green area was bigger. But good option in Oro Valley if you happen to be in the area. read more

I was recently diagnosed with low blood flow to my legs I asked trainers Jamie and Ken what machines and exercises I could do to increase blood flow. They not only gave me a list but took time to instruct me to several exercises that would increase my blood flow. The showed me what muscles needed to be worked on. I had to drive all the way to Oro Valley to cancel because the location on Ina would not assist me; they just gave me the runaround to avoid taking the financial hit of canceling my memberships. I enjoy lifting there, and have made new friends. I use the facility on Oracle, listed as Oro Valley. It has more equipment than Marana, where I visited once. I caution prospective members. The facility has not had hot water for showers for SEVERAL weeks. I could accept a few days. A week would be pushing it, but SEVERAL weeks and not receiving a straight answer from any staff when there will be hot water is terrible. If part of the membership fee is the availability of showers, I ask the question when LA Fitness will reduce the membership fee due to lack of a promised amenity. read more

Best La Fitness Ive been to. I travel a lot. Other locations around the US should learn from Oro Valley. Not just the equipment but the members. The weights are re-racked (at least in the am) and wiped down by members. Broken equipment is quickly addressed. Ergonomic, updated and maintained daily by staff. Clean bathrooms, studios maintained. Ive heard people mentioning "retired people". So? Maybe thats the reason things are in order. Not a bunch of entitled brats expecting others to clean up after them. Less posers and fashion shows than most. More classes in the Tucson area than so many other LA Fit. in metro areas. This location being my home gym, Im always disappointed when I go to other cities. I dig this gym! Bright and clean, huge free weight area, tons of mirrors, all the stairmasters work, so many cable machines, locker room is clean and pool is quite large! Luis and Michael are very helpful staff. Definitely one the best LA fitnesses I've been to in the US. I would get a membership here no doubt if I was not only in Tucson for a temporary time! I've been to Chuze, Vasa fitness and planet fitness here in Tucson and still, this LA is by far my favorite one to go to. I never felt the gym was too crowded or packed with people either. Sleazy, outdated, bait and switch sales tactics... My wife and I were excited and 99.9% ready to sign up, but first we wanted to see the gym and experience a workout to get a feel for the vibe. One time would have been fine. Nope. They wouldn't honor the 3 day passes we printed directly from their site. Keep in mind they spam called me almost every day for 2 weeks prior asking me when I'd like to activate my pass. WTF? Makes no sense, right? Instead, we were subjected to a ridiculous, rambling, non-sensical sales pitch. We weren't allowed to get past the front desk without signing up for a membership first. Who pays for anything without seeing it first?? So we just walked out in the middle of the babbling sales pitch. Hey Oro Valley LA Fitness: Wake up. You just lost two customers. If you had honored the passes and treated us professionally, no doubt we would have enrolled and stayed for years (and referred many friend along the way). Read the other reviews. See a pattern? New to the area , upon my arrival, met with my advisor ( Azsure ), wonderful advisor well verse on fitness and very lite and friendly with open arms. Very warm welcoming. I came to this gym purely because my former gym completely fell apart. From the time I walked in I was wondering why I hadnt been coming here all along. Granted there are cheaper gyms out there but believe me you get what you pay for. The staff at LA Fitness from the time I enrolled has been nothing less than perfect. The equipment is state of the art and there is no lack of it. At least 20 bikes, 20 treadmills, and 20 ellipticals there is never a wait for cardio. There is also a spin room with 40 or so bikes that you can use even if there is mo spin class. A stretch area, 4 racquetball courts, a yoga/ heavy bag room, full size basketball court, a full size pool and jacuzzi makes up the remainder of other areas. As far as muscle building, if you cant find the machine in this gym to work every muscle in the body then you might as well stay home. The restrooms are extremly large with lots of lockers, toilets and showers. They also have a dry sauna in each bathroom. The cost is slightly higher than most gyms, but what you get is well worth it if you take advantage of the many amenities. They are also very prompt with repairs. All the people are great at LA Ftness. I joined because they have competitive volleyball Thursday nights from 7:00 till close. When you sign up you get a session with one of the trainers and they kind of give you a tour of the gym. They also do a pretty detailed evaluation to help you define your goals. I was not a regular gym goer before joining. Azure was my trainer. She is super friendly and knowledgeable. She, along with Johnny and Ja'vonne, always say hi to me and know me by my name. I am up to one or two actual workouts a week (plus the Thursday volleyball) mostly because the trainers have been so friendly and helpful. read more

This location has recently implemented a new rule to the gym that limits access to the gym an hour before the marked closing time. The already early closing time for the weekends of 8PM, has now been reduced to 7PM and nothing has been updated anywhere on any website or map. LA Fitness is not a close drive for me and with varying traffic levels, the timing is hard to gauge. Today, I arrived to the gym 3 minutes late due to traffic, walking in at 7:03PM I was denied access to the gym by the assistant manager of this location. Even after explaining the situation, I was told tough luck and to go home. I am furious with this new policy, especially after watching some employees let in their friends after this new "designated closing time". I wasted my gas, time, and effort getting ready just to be treated like someone who isn't here on the daily. The fact that these employees are getting paid to be here while all the lights are on, and members cannot come to workout, is ridiculous. Either update your times, or honor your actual closing time. read more

I'm a member of the Oro Valley club and I have never experienced the worst treatment and customer service. First of all your front desk girl Alex is the most unpleasant person I've had the misfortune to deal with. Not a smile not a greeting and a bad attitude. Second of all the water was turned off without any notice during your busy time in the morning. Most members at this time of day go to work after a work out. No showers and no bathroom use. When I mentioned that the water was turned off without any notice to Alex, her response was you should have read the signs. I inform her that there were no signs and I stated that she should have mentioned when I checked in that the water will be turned off. Her response again was I should have read the signs and she had a smirk while she said that. This is unacceptable behavior from your employee and the club. To say the least this will be posted on your FB page as well as mine as a warning to members of the employee behavior. read more

I've been at La Fitnesses, Planet Fitnesses, 24 Hour Fitnesses, YMCA's, college gyms, you name it, across the country. This LA Fitness location on Oracle is by far the worst gym I've ever been to. Total trash. Why? Employees. Employees and employees only. Facility is fine, great pool. Great amenities. Trouble is, the entire staff is rude, entitled, lazy and immature. I guarantee you that manager Alex wouldn't last a week in corporate B2B environments. She shrugs you off, avoids doing anything in her job requirements of watching over the staff and making sure routine work is done, all while holding an attitude that things are great we all love it here. No. Most everyone hates the environment in there. A mixture of senior citizens and high schoolers with many dedicated lifters of all ages peppered in there. A very non sociable, unfriendly gym. This is by far the least social and least happy gym environment I've ever been in. So glad I cancelled and went to Planet Fitness down Oracle. I want to share most appalling experience that I had toward the end of January with a staff member on here. I went to inquire about potential personal training lessons at this location and sat with a manager named Stuart who proceeded to tell me all about the process and the costs and formalities. As I was dressed in workout clothes hoping to have a trial session that day he then started profusely at my chest area and made an extremely vulgar comment that I won't post on here but then also referred to them as my "assets". I was mortified and felt reduced to an object by this individual and exited practically in tears. Trust me their corportate offices will be emailed about this incident as well! read more

The club is nice. Alexx was my sales rep and was very nice in the beginning. The offer they gave was $200+ to join. Monthly dues in the high $30's. I have friends that joined recently for all US clubs at $99 to start and about $27 monthly afterwards. I worked out on a pass for a few days. The prices they gave me were well above the market rate. It took them 2 weeks to give me a similar offer but for AZ clubs only. During that time Alexx was becoming increasingly rude and aggressive. I received the "fair" offer on Sunday 40 minutes before the club closes. I told Alexx, "Great! Let's do it! I am driving back from the lake. I would not be in Tucson before they closed. I will be there tomorrow to sign up." Alexx my rep rudely stated that I had to sign up in the next 40 minutes or I would loose the offer forever. Now you know why I am not a member. read more

After a '5''recent move, I was lookingforward to this gym, having used other LA Fitness sites in the area. The gym is clean, bright and airy. That is all good, however all I can do here when I work out is the cardio machines and a few other machines. I am an average height female, 5'5'', and the StarTrec machines are just too big, don't adjust easily or adequately. I am very disappointed that I can't get the kind of workout I'm used to. There are a few Matrix machines, but they are also built for a taller body. When I mentioned this to the person at the desk, she replied that she was well aware, as she is shorter than I am, and finds the StarTrec machines just too big. I like the mat pilates class here, but can't stay and continue to work out....time to find another gym. read more

I have been going to this location for about a year and I have always trained by myself. One of the personal trainers, Tim Sowers approached me and offered to run me through one of his sessions! I decided to give it a shot and was surprised at how much new information I learned in such a short amount of time. I plan on going back to see Tim for continuous guidance on workouts, form and diet. Just signed up at the Oro Valley location after moving back to the area. Prior to moving away I went to the LA Fitness on Wilmont and on First Ave. Four stars because the front desk staff were very odd and off putting about helping us figure out how to join the gym. I asked for a guest pass to try out the gym because we were debating between this location and a platinum fitness membership. She told me it would cost $15 for the day for each for my partner and I. I looked at her funny and said, "people don't try out your location before they sign up for membership." She repeated herself. So I repeated basically that I wanted to sign up. She then told us to go sit in these chairs and she would call someone over. 15 min later, a membership rep comes to greet us. He was really awesome and gave us a full tour. He worked with us on the best membership option. I asked my partner if she wanted to try out the gym before we signed up (Which the sales rep was happy to do.) We decided just to sign up. Overall the front desk folks are pretty cool. Maybe this was just an off day or a miscommunication. Either way, we received great customer service. There are a lot of serious lifters there so the weight area is usually always busy but not overly so. There are plenty of weights and equipment. There are also great classes, a boxing area and open space, several courts etc. The sauna is great as is the pool and hot tub. Compared to what gyms in California were charging, the cost is nothing. I will give LA Fitness credit for keeping up the appearances of ALL their Tucson clubs! Well done... This club just went through a week of cosmetic renewal including new and improved flooring. The down side is the California based management team chose to keep many of the crappy Star Trac exercise machines rather than trade them out for better Life Fitness/Hammer equipment. They did get rid of the crappy Star Trac elliptical cardio machines but replaced them with a low end Matrix ellipticals rather than purchasing a better model of the Matrix elliptical that includes adjustable incline as well as adjustable resistance. I generally choose this club for morning cardio and light workouts with a friend, but use the original Tucson LA on Ina Road for more intense resistance workouts because it has smartly retained much of its "old school" and more effective Life Fitness and Hammer equipment. In general LA Fitness locations provide a decent workout experience for the average fitness enthusiast. A more hard core, power lifting or CrossFit athletes are better off at gyms in Tucson that cater to their sports. My on going complaint with LA Fitness is the company's policy regarding disposable employees. Massive turnover in personnel has occurred in Tucson for each of the last 15 years. I don't even try to get to know anyone who works at any club now, because I know in 3-4 months they will be replaced with another new person. The personal training staff is the lone exception to the revolving door of employees. Very sad. read more
