They get some basic training on equipment and then can work out on their own. I'm just happy this facility has all the basics plus a few extras. I can do as much or little as I want here. My only complaint is minimal: if two people are showering, there might not be a toilet facility immediately available plus some deep cleaning might be in order but overall, this facility is just fine!

I discovered that a HYROX workout was being hosted here, immediately texted a friend, and we signed up. When I arrived, I couldn't believe how completely the facility had changed. It was like the gym had gone away for two years, gotten a makeover, and come back with a personal trainer. Everything was super clean, the equipment was new and updated, and the crowd was diverse and included people of all ages. Basically, everyone looked like they belonged there--including those of us questioning our life choices halfway through the workout. Every employee I met was wonderful, but Coach Josh really stood out. He invited us to come back and try his group exercise class, and we absolutely plan to. I may even stretch beforehand, which is how you know I'm serious. The HYROX workout was awesome! There were also several vendors, and we loved getting massages afterward. They even had infrared saunas, which felt like a very luxurious reward for voluntarily making my legs stop working. The facility has showers and lockers, along with unique equipment like the Jacob's Ladder. There's also a vending machine stocked with my favorite vegan protein shakes, because apparently the gym understands that I need a snack immediately after pretending to be athletic. The prices seemed reasonable, too. Group class drop-ins are $20, which feels pretty standard. My only wish is that this gym were available on the ClassPass app.

You never really know where you'll stumble upon a true sense of community, and this gym is absolute proof of that. I've been to countless studios, gyms, and boutique fitness spaces -- some incredibly bougie, some incredibly pricey -- and yet the kind of community they wish they had is exactly what La Mariposa has already built. It's genuine, it's tight-knit, and it's been nurtured for years. During my visit, I met members who have been working out together for over two decades, which says everything you need to know about the atmosphere here. The class itself was fantastic, the energy was great, and everyone was so welcoming. The owner was also incredibly welcoming -- genuinely kind, present, and clearly passionate about what he's building here. The workout itself included both lifting and a short jog outside, which I actually enjoy as a change of pace. However, during that run, there was a moment that made me uncomfortable as a newcomer to the gym and to the city. I overheard a couple of members joking about and mocking Asian-sounding names. It may not have been intentional, but it landed poorly for me, especially as someone of Asian descent who was literally running just behind them. I want to be clear that this didn't feel like a reflection of the owner, the coaching, or the space itself -- more so a reminder of how important community awareness and inclusivity are, particularly in group fitness environments. As someone who values feeling safe and welcome when trying a new gym, that moment ultimately kept me from returning. That said, CrossFit Fixx has a lot going for it, and I truly believe it could be a great fit for the right people. I appreciated the warmth from leadership and the quality of the workout -- and I hope the culture continues to evolve in a way that makes everyone feel seen and respected. That is not the issue. The issue is that I called ahead before making the trip specifically to explain my situation. I explained that I was a monthly member, that I wanted to bring a guest using one of my guest passes, and that we were traveling from downtown Tucson. If I had been told over the phone that my guest would not be able to climb under those circumstances, I simply would not have made the trip. Instead, I drove all the way from downtown, paid for transportation, and had my friend take time out of his day to bring me there, only to be turned away after we arrived. That was frustrating because it could have been completely avoided with accurate communication before I left. Your explanation of the policy makes sense. However, it does not address why I was not informed of that policy when I called ahead. Had I been given the correct information, neither my time, my money, nor my friend's time would have been wasted. As a paying monthly member, I expected clear communication so I could make an informed decision before traveling. My frustration is not with the existence of the policy itself; it is with the lack of communication that led to an unnecessary trip. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so other members do not have the same experience. Thank you.

I was looking to get back into shape and was referred to Marcel's from a friend. Now, both my kids…read more(12 and 11) are going and all three of us look forward to it. Marcel and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, the equipment is clean and in excellent condition and there are plenty of classes to choose from. . . Spinning, Yoga, Zumba to name a few. It's great to get the kids into a gym where everyone has a very positive attitude, I hope this experience builds the foundation for them to be fit their whole lives.
