I had a personal training session with Bryt a few days ago. He was not only very knowledgeable but he was a great guy too. He took the time to ask me about my personal fitness goals and gave me a detailed road map of how I would accomplish them. During the personal training session, he had me do some exercises that I normally don't do, nonetheless, it gave me a good idea of some exercises to do to increase anaerobic activity, core strength, and stability. After the work out he took the time to get to know me and I was able to get to know him too. Overall, he was very friendly, personable, and I highly recommend his services to anyone interested in personal training. So far, I have greatly enjoyed my membership with LA fitness. I appreciate that they are open an hour later on the weekend compared to other gyms in town. Also, the kids club is a huge plus for me as a single Dad. Best gym in town hands down and the staff is amazing! I honestly do not understand why anyone would want to go anywhere else. I worked out at Planet Fitness for years and wish I would have made the change years ago! The gym at LA is very clean and they do a great job keeping the sanitizing stations locked and loaded. The amenities cannot be matched and the variety of equipment is excellent. Lastly, and most importantly, the ladies look much better over here. I was really disappointed in this location. The women's changing rooms and bathrooms were gross and run-down. The floors and walls could really use a deep clean. I was most disappointed in the workout room upstairs though. They have more classes than the East Vancouver location, but the room at the Hazel Dell location is half the size, and the A/C apparently hasn't been working for the past three months. They propped open the two doors and placed a single box fan at the entrance, but that's it. It got so incredibly hot and stuffy in there with all the bodies in the room. It's honestly a safety hazard and completely negligent on their part. Someone almost passed out during a previous class. How has it been three months and they still haven't fixed the A/C?! read more

Been going to LA Fitness for a year now and loving it. I recently decided to do the complimentary health assessment that comes with the membership and I got paired up with Bryt. I can say he is awesome. During my year of going I was starting to have a plateau phase. Bryt taught me some stretching techniques and some different workouts. Even though I was not able to sign up with a personal trainer I noticed my plateau phase ended and I started to lose weight again. Negative reviews for this place are insane, and hilariously out of touch. The pool seems to be open, but that being closed (if it was) for an overly extended period is the only defensible reason. Go to an LA Fitness in, well, LA (ping me for specific locations if you dare lol) and tell me how dirty this location is. They have people cleaning multiple times per day. With extremely rare exception, the free weights are re-racked properly. Fellow gym goers are polite enough to clean up after themselves/wipe their equipment down. They also have quite a bit of new/impressive equipment Post-renovation. I would be genuinely THRILLED if my dumpy POS LAF in LA was 50% as nice as this location. Stop whining, folks. read more

This place is pretty bad and I have been a member of LA fitness for few years now. The facility is small compared to other locations. The front door staff don't seem happy to be here. Majority of the time they don't greet you. Plus half the time, they don't have wipes to clean machines off or paper towels in the restrooms. Also, the trainers are rude and don't like other members working out around them, ultimately making it uncomfortable. Finally, there's no where to stretch, you have the stretch in the middle of the facility. Compared to other locations there is a mat that you can stretch on, not here. The front desk can be very rude! They really need to clean the bathroom & showers. I don't use them they are gross! I've seen and had trainers take my machine because they are doing a private training session, not even polite about it. The club members are usually very nice! After 4pm the club gets incredibly busy! I really like 24 Hour Fitness, Golds Gym is much nicer as well. Planet Fitness is close by, very affordable & clean. You can't go wrong with this gym. It's got everything you need from body building to isometric training. They also have equipment (isometric training) you won't find at some of the other competitor gyms which is a plus. The turf field is my favorite and is almost always empty. I usually go around noon and I've had no issues with over-crowdedness. Upon signing up, you are granted a complimentary consult with a certified trainer. I got Sharon and she was fantastic! She walked me through a comprehensive review of my fitness goals. She also took me through a full workout and identified some areas I need to focus on. For me it was introducing high intensity/mobility workouts to my workout regiment. It helped me realize I could benefit from a trainer for the exercise perspective, but also the nutritional coaching aspect. Pleased with the gym so far. read more

Signed up for this gym yesterday and this morning I was at my first Zumba class and Craig was the instructor and did such a phenomenal job it was so much fun. I'm definitely looking forward to doing more. I couldn't believe I actually enjoyed Zumba but it was super energizing and the music was perfect. Pool was closed unexpectedly at the start of September 2023. No explanation or warning to members. Spoke to the Manager Jasmine and she said " Could be day, could be weeks, could be months. Finally a reason was given for the closure and it was a faulty HVAC unit. We are now into the last week of November 2023 and still the pool is closed and no attempts to inform paying members of when the services that they were sold on during their membership sales pitch could be available for use again. It's a classic bait and switch option which is going to be perfect for the upcoming class action suit. Update - February 2024 and the pool is still closed. Terrible management. They lie about EVERYTHING related to the pool. They obviously have no interest in repairing the pool area but they still use the photos of the pool and jacuzzi in their advertisements and charge for the unavailable amenities in the monthly fees. I joined this place with a lot of hope, and I was so excited to add the membership in my life strictly for a pool to swim in. I got talked into doing the professional trainer workouts. They are good, but they are expensive. Then it happened. Months ago they suddenly closed the pool down because of some HVAC issue. Causing the paint to peel? "Two weeks" they told us, then it was a couple more weeks, now it's been months. MONTHS. At about four weeks and they were blaming corporate for hangups in the process. They were struggling with getting the parts. I called today to see how progress was, the same story I've heard for almost 3 months, "we're still waiting on parts for the HVAC system". I asked, "are they actually gonna open it back up?" The gal said "that's the plan" They are now at the point of suspending memberships because people are ticked. But because I bought into the workouts I am stuck with attending the place. Swimming was such a part of my recovery therapy after working out and I just gave up and quit going. Now I'm all stacked up on these nonrefundable training visits and I'm just gonna get them over with and move on. I guarantee you this: this place knows and knew a lot more about what's going on with the pool and failed to tell people. They were still accepting new applications for membership and really didn't tell anybody ahead of time that the pool would be shut down/was having problems from what I understand. I'm greatly disappointed. The people there are nice, but I really feel like it's gone downhill just in the last six months, tremendously. I also feel like they're doing promos all the time just to get people sucked in. And if they're telling me the story about the pool, I'm sure they're telling anybody that comes in new the same thing. That really frustrates me because it feels very dishonest. I guess I shouldn't be surprised about that part Anyhow, there are other gyms with pools, but you have to go clear to LA fitness in Portland to find a pool with their club. I'm really glad I stuck with my planet fitness membership as well. It's over 4 months that the swimming pool is closed for repairs. Any time calling to find out the reopening date they used to say in a month, now after almost 5 months they say we are in the process of repair, but we don't know when it would be ready! Very irresponsible and not caring for the members at all. I have asked several times regarding the cause and they say there is a problem with the air condition and the filter! Does it really take this long to fix this problem?! The problem gets worse and ugly, when there is another LA fitness in Vancouver that shamelessly they say the pool has a problem that is not fixable.... My son and I bought the memberships on August 21，2023，for swimming. 40days later，the swimming pool was closed for maintainance. We were told the maintain may last two weeks. However by now no one knows if the swimming pool can open in December. We went to another La fitness Gym in Orchard Vancouver. The swimming pool there was closed in 2022. It is not surposed reopen any more. At least the working staff do not know they have schedule to reopen their swimming pool. My son still pay the monthly fee but he went to the gym no more than 3 time a month because our purpose to work out in this gym is swimming. I am very upset for it. before closing the pool，there were a lot of elderly people taking the water classes ，named Aqua Fit. Those who could not waik or excise very well，enjoyed the working out in the water. Those senior citizens are expecting its reopen as well. Some people worried La fitness might close the pools one by one to lower down the cost. Worst gym in Vancouver. Staff are super disrespectfu never say hello or goodbye. It used to be a super clean club and now looks like it's going downhill. As a member I don't feel welcome or like I can touch something without getting sick. The operations manager is a total asshole and doesn't do her job correctl otherwise id see night time custodians and people cleaning and I have not since I have been here. Also the showers have been a health concern with the mold and will be contacting a local health inspecto for your guys locker room & showers. read more

I came in w a 7 day pass. Guy name Dave helped me, saw my ID said I was from out of town and would not allow me to work out w my family. Said only if I was interested in joining a membership with him he would activate it. Currently in town on military orders. Obviously he was in a hurry to get off, once he told me no he left the building. Spent maybe 5 min with him before being told I have to wait in the lobby while my family worked out. To top it off, on his way out the door he told us if we decide to open a membership back home we should come back to him so he can get the commission. read more

I've been a member many years, I love to go shoot baskets and listen to music on my headphones. While doing that today I witnessed a young man being coached while being videotaped with a camera on a tripod at half-court. At first I thought it was great that this must be some professional type hoops set up and I proceeded to practice alone listening to music. I was in the gym for a half hr or so and noticed the "coach" was getting more and more intense circling around this kid and screaming at him so loud that I couldn't hear the music on my headphones, I took my headphones off and asked nicely if he could take it down a notch, I was standing 7 feet away with my hands down when he stepped toward me put his hand in my face while swearing at me to get out of his, then I got a 2 hand shove to the floor. I was stunned and laid/sat on the floor for a while, the "coach" just kept coaching. I saw one other person in the gym and asked for 911 for being assaulted. That's when staff came in and asked me to leave for creating a disturbance while"Coach" kept on coaching and wasn't confronted by staff. Surveillance video? Staff said they don't have any. But staff without witnessing said they knew what happened. I hope Coach and pupil still have their video, (video rules?) No I didn't go quietly, my apologies to other members. Thank you Vancouver Police for taking my report and I apologize for being so frustrated at first when officer noted that the witness said I fell down like a little kid after being shoved by the 6'5 230 lb 35 year old "coach" Now I'm thinking it's cool that I'm 65 years old and have the skill to flop, particularly after having my hips surgically replaced 18 months ago and having cancer surgery and 3 hernias fixed at same time 10 weeks ago. Recovery can be tough and grueling at times but I'm not quite ready for full contact. I'm only giving them 2 stars xm taking one away for turning a blind eye toward abuse. Another star for the swim pool BS, (closed for several mos.) And a third star for the staff member who I referred to as a "chump" he looked silly when he was puffing up on me. I would almost give a star back for getting new basketballs well 1anyway. The front desk guy is nice and the maintenance lady with the rainbow hair works hard, 2 stars for them. read more

Been a member here for years. This place has turned into a sh*thole! Recently closed the pool down due to lack of airflow causing issues to the paint. News flash. You had months to repair during COVID shutdowns AND the remodel. Not sure they actually clean this place. Maybe once a day. I one time saw a tampon floating on the bottom of the pool and had to turn it. This was first thing in the morning, so I know it had been there all night. They swapped out the sanitizer foam and paper towels with sanitizer wipes. But never refill consistently. So that was a great idea. I feel like I need to shower after the shower there. LA.... You should be better than this. I joined another gym, not as close, I pay more, but it is SO MUCH nicer. Maybe a management change is in order before more and more people leave. Plus side, I love the people that go there. Good luck LA. I hope things improve by the time the pool opens back. Otherwise I am outta of there. read more

I told staff that the main reason that I wanted to join was that my main purpose for joining was for swimming. One week after I joined, they closed the poo. It has been 3 months now and the pool has not reopened. There is no way that they did not know that the pool was going to be closed for scheduled repairs but yet they did not inform me. I was able to swim twice. I am unable to do other types of exercise and on a limited budget. Extremely mad and disappointed !!! read more

Each time I come here, there are a handful of members who aren't wearing masks and no one is enforcing it.

This gym is not horrible, but I have been to much cleaner and nicer gyms. When equipment is broken, it can remain down for weeks and sometime months. Some of the equipment is very dirty and well used. I don't bother going during a busy time because you nearly have to wait in line to get on some of the equipment. The hours need to be extended later during the week. The weekend hours need to be earlier. I would go to the gym before 7:00am if they were open, but they don't open until 8:00 am. By that time I can do many other things and just skip the gym. Parking can be impossible to find during busier times. Really, I only go to this gym because the price is reasonable and it is the only gym near my house. I would rate this gym at 2 1/2 stars. read more

This gym is a great place to work out at, however if you're looking for customer service sadly this isn't the place to find it. They have an employee here named Hanna (she works evenings), that only smiles and says goodbye to males. If you're a female and remotely good looking, it's going to be a chore to get your key tag swiped, and she never says hello or bye. I don't recall ever seeing her smile, because it's always some type of annoyed facial expression, or the occasional eye roll when you call her out by saying goodbye (because she didn't), but you clearly heard her say goodbye to the good looking gentleman in front of you. I joined for the pool, and mostly there's a lane available at the times I want to swim. The water isn't too cold and the showers and changing areas are always clean and are nicer than many other local places. There are liquid soap dispensers in the showers. The front desk staff has been very welcoming and the email communication has been good. I even like the music... takes me back. The only things I would say are cons are 1) the pool could use a good vacuuming 2) there's no spinner thing for wet swimsuits. Seriously need a spinner- not only does it help clients with wet suits, but it keeps the soggy suits from dripping all over the floors in the changing area. Went into LA to get signed up for a membership, told the receptionist we were there to sign up and she immediately ask for our IDS. While taking out our IDS I asked if mask are required while working out because I could see people behind her working out with no mask on, but I wanted to double check before signing up. She paused for a second and with a snarky tone says, "There's a sign on the door, that should help you.", my boyfriend and I couldn't believe the disrespect and lack on customer service, we left immediately after. They have lost us as future customers, and I would suggest hiring employees who have good customer service. read more

This Gym has horrible customer service. Courtney the supposedly sales manager is rude! Has no common sense what so ever. Don't go there if you are expecting a friendly or respectful environment or positive exchange with the personnel. I was about to attend a water class with my daughter and her pass had expired, I told them I would be adding her to my family membership right after the class. The class is about to start and Courtney didn't have the common sense or PR ability to say go ahead and we can do this right after the class!!! I stood there while she tried to add the membership using my phone!! then had the idiot idea that I would be able to tell her my credit card information off the top of my head!! How is that common sense?If I am trying to get around something I am right there in the pool and I already have a membership you could charge me for her class!!!! NO Common Sense!!! No PR !!! The men's lockerroom is gross. The shower curtains have mold on them. 10 years ago the guy that cleaned was excellent. Washed out the showers frequently and the sauna. Now it appears no one cleans them. Also, there are tears on the carpet, especially walking up to the 2nd floor. I'm surprised no one has fallen yet. read more

I've been going to this location for about a year off and on. I mean I've had a membership, I just haven't been able to go as often as I'd like. Here's why: My daughter got sick pretty much every month while at the daycare there. I stopped going because I was going to try and find another gym, but it's the only place nearby with childcare. It's been a few months since I've gone and it seems a bit more clean. I noticed children with runny noses and coughs always in there. There should be a policy (or common courtesy) that if your kid is showing signs of sickness, they shouldn't be allowed at the daycare. I thought that was an obvious thing, but apparently not every parent feels that way. Anyway, so far my daughter hasn't gotten sick since being there for our second week. The equipment isn't the newest, but it works. The staff is always friendly and the bathrooms/locker rooms are fairly clean. I mean for being gym bathrooms anyway. There's a basketball court, pool, and sauna. My husband plays basketball there and enjoys it although there have been a few fights here and there. Overall, this gym is decent. It's really the only one with all the amenities and childcare in the area. read more

I've been a member for about 10 years. No problems with the staff and the facility meets my needs. Membership fees are quite reasonable.

I go here all the time (gym rat). That being said, I'm neither overly impressed or let down by this club. I find that I can still access the machines I want even during peak times and the pool isn't usually busy which allows for all the swimming I can muster. The locker rooms are usually pretty well kept and I don't get too much of that bro feeling when I decide to lift some weights. Things I do not like: The voracious upsell of personal training services. They bill it as a free fitness assessment but it's really just their way of telling you how you're not doing enough and how paying them a bunch of money will help reach your goals faster. Also, some of the staff just aren't that friendly. I get sitting at the front desk is boring, but take some ownership of your position!
