Bummer! Unfortunately things appear to be slipping... The last 3+ visits I've had issues (we come weekly) Friday evening, we were seated and did not see our server for over 10 minutes. Finally placed drink orders, then realized we didn't have menus. Requested menus, another 10+ minutes, we get menus. While I my crew typically orders the same thing our guests had never dined here. Placed orders, food arrives, noticed we had no silverware...the list goes on. It just felt like things were "off." Fast forward to an early Wednesday night meal and almost identical scenario. Huge delays and below average service. But, the kicker for me...the same meal my son orders EVERY week, for months maybe even a year doubled in price. Five steak tacos was now 23.50. I asked and was told the 3 tacos are a meal and the additional two are sold separately. He has never gotten a meal, he didn't request a meal. He requested 5 tacos. Their mistake was at my expense. If a server is unsure he should request clarification. I let it go, because it wasn't worth nickel and dining over. But, it sealed the deal on my feelings. The service has gone down hill and the food/presentation. Wilted lettuce, unknown items in food, etc...something is off. Reluctantly, we are breaking up. read more

$1.50 Taco Tuesdays is the best tacos in Irmo. However they only serve chicken and beef tacos on Tuesdays for that price. The beans and rice was savory and tasty. My wife and I often frequent La Fogata as it is the closest Mexican restaurant to our house. As many times as we have eaten here, we have never had a bad experience. Whether it's dine in or a to go order, the quality of the food is always good. The service of the staff is also top-tier. Everyone is so nice and friendly. They are prompt to take your order and get your food out to you and everyone seems to really enjoy what they're doing. They might pack a lot of people in the restaurant, but it's not too overwhelming to talk to the party that you're with. They also have TVs with different sports playing. Overall the food, service, and environment for La Fogata is really nice and I would encourage anyone to give this restaurant a try! read more

A solid 2 stars. Edible but not good. We eat a lot of Mexican food. This was our first time eating here. I ordered the shrimp tacos. It was really bland and the shrimp tasted like chlorine water and salt. The corn tortillas tasted store bought as well and old. The less than a tablespoon of "guacamole" was not homemade and was identical in texture and flavor to the squeeze guacamole at the grocery store. It was definitely not homemade. The rice was also very bland. The chips were stale. There was nothing on my plate that tasted good. It was very disappointing to pay $12.99 for some unappetizing shrimp tacos. The only reason I ate my food is because I was hungry and we needed to be somewhere. I picked the shrimp off and ate them with a little rice. My husband ordered a combination meal. The beans were gross. And his food was bland as well. I don't recommend it. Food is expensive. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Have loved this place for 2 years, but this week their prices nearly doubled -- with no warning. So we are breaking up with La Fogata. We ordered the Monday special (usually $10) but saw $22 on the bill. Dos Equis pitchers were $10, but now are $17. The manager didn't have much sympathy. We came here 4-6 times a month. There are many other choices nearby. I hope that management sees this as a fixable problem. read more

Looking for a light lunch, I dropped into La Fogato. They had about 20 lunch specials, available Monday through Saturday, but I decided on the Salsa Mexicano instead. Oh, wow! A+ for presentation! The avocado was just right -- not too chunky, not too smooth. Just the right amount of fresh onion and tomato and cilantro. The chips were light and crisp, with just a hint of salt. I went to La Fogata for lunch and ordered lunch #9 (quesadilla, Chile Relleno, and rice). The only reason this restaurant is worthy of one star is because the staff was friendly, quick service and the rice was cooked properly. The Chile Relleno was filled with ground beef that tasted like it was unseasoned or minimally seasoned before cooking. I was extremely confused because Chile Relleno normally have ground beef and their menu doesn't state there is ground beef in it either. The pepper was over cooked and tasted like it was sautéed in too much oil instead of charred, like it should be. The quesadilla was on appalling. The first piece of chicken that I bit into was returned to my plate. There was no seasoning and tasted like it had been boiled and then shredded. If the rice had been seasoned properly, it would have been decent. After adding about 25 shakes of the Cholula bottle on the table made it edible. I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

What can I say? I went here with family the other day for lunch and we had a great time. I ordered the fogata fajitas and they did not disappoint. Great flavor and a generous serving. I liked it so much that I had to return for dinner on Taco Tuesday. I've been searching for a place like this in the area for quite some time and here it is. You can't pass up 99 cent tacos. Of course the salsa bar puts it over the top. I'll definitely be returning here. read more

Today, I had the best meal in weeks, and yesterday I ate at a restaurant with $45 entrees. I ordered the #1 Lunch Special. The Chili Relleno was the best I can ever remember eating. The prices and portions were great and the Margarita had a nice tart flavor. They have a salsa bar that has about a dozen choices. Was here yesterday. They had masks on but didn't seem to care that we didn't. Seemed clean enough but no smell of bleach or disinfectant. Didn't see anybody wiping down the menus, door knobs -anything. Did not venture into rest room. Sat us by a front door kept open by a towel which let in the bugs,heat and humidity. Food was watery. We absolutely love this place! My husband and I go very often since it's right down from our neighborhood. We always sit in a booth in the bar and have the best service from either Jaciel or Lulu! They have great happy hour specials from 4-7. Monday and Tuesday they have 99 cent tacos. My best friend even joins us for that! The food and drinks are great! I live very close to La Fogata on Broad River Rd at the 97 Peak Exit. This restaurant is very cozy, and has a variety of excellent food. The staff is always courteous and friendly. They are quick to seat you, take your drink order, bring you chips and salsa and then take your order. It's always clean and I love that the wait staff continues to come by often to check your need for refills on your drinks. A lot of restaurants forget the customer once the meal is served. Not the staff at La Fo Gata. I also do take out. They give very generous size portions of food and especially chips and salsa; my grandsons favorite. I have eaten at San Jose and other La Fogatas. This one to me has the best service, friendliness staff and has always gotten my orders correct. I often have special orders and it's nice not to have to check behind them to see if your order is correct. They never miss a beat. They also are very good with children. I have a 3 year old grandson and they are always very patient and kind to him. It's nice going to a restaurant where the staff has such wonderful patience with children. They are very quick to bring out your freshly cooked meal so that you can have your dinner and they offer a free dessert that is wonderful. A must try for Mexican Food lovers! read more
