Taqueria Jalisco is a hidden gem! The chips were fresh, and the salsa was tasty and had a bit of a kick to it. My wife got the arroz con pollo, which was tasy and flavorful!I tried the Chori Pollo, and it was absolutely delicious. The perfect combination of chorizo and chicken, cooked to perfection. I have always gotten good quick service, if you are in a hurry. Good drinks frozen ones or margaritas they have a variety and large glasses to share not sure if you want to share with everyone theses days so get your own and enjoy. Don't drink and drive ever. Plan on relaxing and drinking water until you can safely go home. Fun for family, business lunch or dinner or with friends. Reasonable prices too. read more

Every time I go to a Mexican restaurant I get nachos, and based off that I'm definitely coming back. I do recommend the Taco Soup, and any of the Nacho plates. The people who run it are really attentive and nice. The place is small and usually not busy, there's a few tables for outdoor seating, and maybe a dozen table mixed of booths and chairs. Would 100 percent recommend :) read more

Nice little place inside of the strip mall. Sat at the bar for dinner and the place pretty full in a short period of time. The nachos and salsa were good, and the hot sauce and Verde sauce were a good mix. The Chili Colorado was fantastic. Quite spicy for the meat, but not over powering. The beans were flavorful too. Great find while traversing I20 back from myrtle beach. The palm trees and the giant agave plant in the front says it all. We were greeted with happy smiles, great latin music, and some of the best guacamole i've ever had. We were attended to right away with chips and they took our order of drinks. The service was extremely fast. We got our tacos in under 7 minutes of being seated and they were perfect. Between the clean environment, friendly service, and an overall wholesome experience, I recommend this place 5/5. I would give it 6 stars if I could. read more

This place is run by very, very nice people so I feel sad about leaving a negative review, but if you are used to good - or even average - Mexican-ish food you will want to avoid this place. If you don't know the difference (or don't care) you will probably like Jalisco. My biggest issue is that the food is generally lacking in flavor and the ingredients seem to be of very low quality. For example, when we had fajitas earlier this year, instead of the fresh, sizzling bell peppers and veggies that are usually on a fajitas plate, the vegetables looked and tasted like they were from a frozen bag of Asian stir fry mix and even included the tiny corn cobs and little brown mushrooms that are usually in a frozen stir fry - and were also watery and mushy :-(. Recently, we ordered enchiladas supreme. The tortillas were tough and tasted stale and the chicken had a weird, gritty texture - I'm guessing it was either freezer burned or possibly canned or rehydrated chicken. It was nasty. And the whole thing was covered in a watery brown sauce that literally had NO FLAVOR. It was like a slightly thickened, watery brown gruel, not the tasty traditional red, green, or mole sauce that is on enchiladas everywhere else in the world. Maybe this is how they keep costs down but it only left me determined to never eat here again. read more

My wife and I make a point of coming here whenever we are anywhere near this area. Definitely worth the trip. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, the staff are attentive, polite, professional and happy. The food is just delicious! Everything is fresh and cooked just right. If you want Mexican food that is authentic, then this is the place to come to! If you do not like real Mex food, go to Taco Bell! We leave Taqueria Jalisco very full and happy with our meals and experience every time. read more

The food was actually really good. The service to me wasn't that great. I really came here because I was in the mood for a margarita. It happened to be happy hour which is a bonus. I asked what are the popular margaritas? The lady looked at me like if I didn't say anything. In my head I'm like ok maybe her head is somewhere else. I saw a 27 oz Jalisco margarita, I asked if it's one of the popular drinks, she has another coworker attend me instead. I figured maybe because he understands better English then her but they could've Atleast explained why switching waiters. So I said you know what since no one can tell me which is a popular drink, just give me a water. I didn't even care about the menu after that so I ordered 2 tacos. The carne asada tacos were good. So Atleast they do good on the drinks. But it's not rocket science people. Let a customer know what's a popular drink because unfortunately I've had some bad margaritas before so I always ask. Went here for a Saturday lunch based on a recommendation from a friend. I was expecting it to be more of a hole in the wall type place, but it has a very nice atmosphere and the ambience was great. Not that big of a place, but nice booths and table seating. We were immediately seated and brought chips and salsa to the table. Both the chips and salsa were very good. The salsa was just right...not to hot but had a nice flavor to it. The first basket is free and if you want extra salsa or chips they are $1.75 for each. My wife ordered the beef chimichanga and I ordered the Burrito Jalisco with beef ( It had beef, onions,beans, rice, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream). My wife really liked her chimichanga. It came with white rice and a nice quest sauce. My burrito was excellent...great taste. She thought hers was the best and I thought mine was. I also ordered the Michelata ( based on the recommendation of our friend). I didn't know what it was but thought I'd try it. It's a 32 oz. drink that's somewhat like a Bloody Mary! $7.50 or something like that. You select a beer (assortment or like 5-6 beers to choose from) and the rest is clam juice and other spices (similar to a Bloody Mary). My first sip caught me off guard as I wasn't sure what to expect. But it was quite good and had a nice spike of heat to it. I only finished half of it....I think I'd probably split it with someone next time if I ordered it. When you are done you pay at the register. Service was good. Food was good. I'll go back when I'm in the area! read more

Passing through Columbia and stumbled upon this restaurant. Very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We ordered the jalisco cheese steak and beans off of the lunch menu. Delicious. The tortilla seemed like it could have been freshly made. And the beans also tasted freshly made. Well will definitely mark this as a place we'd come back to if passing through again. Instead, we were seated at a very small two-top with other two-tops about two feet away on either side--not exactly the setting we had hoped for on our anniversary, and barely enough room for dinner plates and drinks. I asked whether we could have the empty booth and was told it was reserved for a party of four. Fair enough, so I asked whether there was another table available. The hostess said she would check, despite the restaurant being almost completely empty. Our server then came over and began pouring water. I had to say "wait a minute" twice so we could find out whether we were changing tables. She then told us they were completely booked and there was nowhere else they could seat us. Perhaps every one of those empty tables really was committed to later reservations, but at 4:15 in an almost empty restaurant, it was disappointing that no effort seemed to be made to accommodate a couple who had reserved well in advance and specifically told the restaurant they were celebrating their 44th anniversary. So we left. We walked across the street to Blue Marlin, where we were warmly welcomed and had an excellent anniversary dinner. The contrast in hospitality could not have been greater. We never had the opportunity to try COA's food, so I can't comment on it. But restaurants are about more than food. Hospitality begins the moment a guest walks through the door, and on a special occasion we had planned weeks in advance, COA simply made us feel like they didn't particularly care whether we stayed or left. We left.

After living in Santa Barbara, CA for 4 years, this is the only place in Columbia I've found that has quality Mexican food. It's actually my favorite restaurant in Columbia! I highly suggest the chicken tacos which are not greasy like you'll find at the chain Mexican restaurants and served just right with only onions, cilantro and lime!
