This trip, the concierge recommended Le Grotelle, so we were eager to try it out. It was quite a hike up to the top of the hill, but once we arrived, the views were breathtaking! It's literally built into a cave, talk about sensory overload! Everything is incredibly charming, from the twinkle lights to the sweeping views, & all the seasoned staff. It's also very family oriented. Everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious! From the pizza to the vegetables to the pasta, it didn't miss a beat! Make sure you're wearing comfortable walking shoes, and have your camera ready to take some beautiful pictures. It's definitely something to experience when you were in Capri! I would recommend that to anyone that's traveling to this beautiful unique island. It's extremely experiential and something you will treasure for the rest of your life.

When we arrived, we were sat in the corner with no view. Our waiter wanted our order immediately upon sitting down, after we had been seated about 90 seconds, and seemed annoyed we hadn't decided yet. After ordering, every table around us got their 3 course meal, including dessert, in the time we waited for our entrees despite us ordering at the same time and sharing an appetizer. There was a large group seated right after us and it felt as though the waiter and the staff forgot about us. The food was good, though I felt like similar standard to everything you can get in town, and double the price. For us, it wasn't worth the hike and price.

In Capri, one simply has the Caprise salad. It was the perfect light lunch to celebrate my visit to this island. My waiter was friendly and I left revived from a 95°F day.

We even saw him take a bite of the communal Parmesan cheese with the spoon from the dish (and the mother returned it to the bowl) which prompted us to not use the Parmesan. The pizzas were hot and fresh, we ordered the Davola and salsiccia e friarielii. Both were delicious but in the end, we love a tomato based pizza the best and should not have wavered. A glass of house wine was surprisingly reasonable at just 5 euro and was a standardly nice, juicy, easy to drink red. The bread was incredibly delicious. The smokiness from the wood oven made it possibly the most delicious bread I can remember eating. No butter. No olive oil. Just delicious. We would have loved to have tried a few of the pasta dishes that looked delicious, so our recommendation for a couple is to get a pizza and a pasta and share them. The salads also looked fresh and large. As many places in Italy, there a fee to sit at the restaurant and be served. 8 euro for both of us. The next day when waiting for our ferry ride, we popped into a pizzeria and grabbed another pizza diavola to go...what a let down. The pizza at buca di bacco was within a euro or two in price and 100% better. If you haven't had a good pizza in Italy and find yourself in Capri, at least grab one or two of their pizzas to go and eat them near the ocean overlook. Don't forget the chili flakes You will be quite content.
