Everything was absolutely amazing. This is a locals only restaurant that we stumbled upon, and came back multiple evenings during our stay. We walked here in the rain and it was so worth it! The restaurant is so cute and quaint, the service was great, and the food was AMAZING. I could not speak highly enough about Lo Sfizio. The staff here are incredible - they are funny, personable, and so welcoming. We felt like family. The food was AMAZING. The best caprese salad on the island and matched a place we went to in Milan where it was perfect. We also had the lemon rissoto and lemon veal chicken and both were perfection. We could go on and on about the restaurant but we will say - do not pass this one up. It is authentic, welcoming, comfortable, casual, perfect. WOW! Lo Sfizio is a gem! On our two week trip to Capri, this restaurant was one of the very few we frequented for lunch - and we tried everything. Right outside of Capri's busy center, on a cute little side street you will find this welcoming little oasis. Come to relax, stay for the best pizza on the island and cold drinks on their little outdoor patio or in their spotless, air conditioned dining room. This lunch pairs very well with a walk to Villa Jovis or the ruins of Tiberius' Villa. We loved Capri so much and plan on coming back a lot in the future. My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights in Capri. We happened upon this restaurant on our second day for lunch and were sad not to find it sooner. It was truly our favorite restaurant in all of Capri. So good we went back twice. The Staff is by far the friendliest and attentive out of all the restaurants I've been to in Europe. The food is absolutely amazing and will make you return for a second round. Their Pasta is cooked perfectly, the flavor combination in the sauce is immaculate. The restaurant has outdoor seating, would recommend if it's still sunny outside. If not, their i door seating is classy and pristine. For our dinner in Capri we decided to try Lo Sfizio. What a find! We sat outside where the wait staff and pedestrians shared the sidewalk. The wait staff joyfully interacted with the families who live nearby. I felt like we were part of the community. We tried the lemon risotto as an appetizer. It was delicious! (I really need a lemon cookbook now!). For the main course I had homemade pasta with zucchini, bacon, Parmesan, and cream sauce. So very good! My husband had the baked half-chicken with potatoes. He made a happy plate! My recommendation: find this place and enjoy a wonderful meal experience away from the tourist crowd! read more

I came to Lo Sfizio with my family (5 adults and 1 child) while visiting Capri for an afternoon. We came in via the ferry (from Naples) and hiked up the 1.5km pathway from the port to get here. It was VERY easy to navigate using google maps and the walking path is both paved, beautiful and well kept. It does get steep at times (you also have the option of taking the fernicular / monorail if you don't want to walk it) but we enjoyed getting (very) sweaty during the hike up. The views along the way were spectacular. We loved this restaurant. This is why: -As soon as we walked in (around noon) it was fairly empty and we were immediately greeted and seated. -I love drinking prosecco and they were VERY prompt at taking our drink orders and bringing us really tasty cold wine (that was very inexpensive). -They had bathroom facilities that were very clean so it was great to wash my hands (and my sweaty face). -They speak fluent english. Not every waiter does, but the waiter that helped us was adequately fluent and very helpful. He took his time explaining the menu, the highlights, where the food came from (the calamari was fresh that day, for example). And WOW, it was... -MUST order: the calamari (especially if it's fresh). The pasta. A must. The pizza was great, different from how we're used to it having it served (it was a margherita pizza heavy on the cheese but without sauce. I'm used to it the opposite). Still delish. Pasta is on point. Highly recommend it. -For the area, it was relatively inexpensive. -The location is 'further' than the main drag of restaurants, and we welcomed the less crowded area and the more attentive service. By far my favorite restaurant in Capri. We ate dinner here twice and then lunch on our last day because we could not get enough of their fabulous food!! Not sure what to order? Let the chef or waiter guide you... even on the wine selection. You will not be disappointed. Everything was so fresh and incredibly flavorful. Their Diavola(sp?) wood fired pizza was to die for. My kids ordered one each and my nibble turned into a full slice. The homemade pasta with shrimp and fresh burrata was the Italian pasta experience I had been longing for but had yet to find until I came here. Ahhhh! The caprese hands down the best! You only need to add salt, pepper and their quality olive oil. Trust me and skip the balsamic. A bit of a walk... 15 minutes from the city center, up hill. Take your time and enjoy the stroll to avoid arriving as a sweaty mess like I did the first night and it is SO SO SO worth the walk. My mouth is watering. I can't wait to return. read more

Disappointed on the upswell /up charge without communicating. Wanted a side dish of vegetables the waitress turned it into a platter and charged for 4 buffets (40 euro extra ) then innocently asked for a local wine (6 euro in the super market charged $40. We had to be exact small salad , 1order mussels , 1order of anchovies bottle of water1 bottle of wine 2 grappa $24 and 1 dessert$8 . Bill total 172 euro ! That's ridiculous. I come to Italy @5-6x a year and this was probably the biggest ripoff. It's worse because we had eaten there prior @ 5years ago with familiar faces and a warm greeting, didn't think we would be suspect to that extra bill padding! better to go around the hill 5 mins to Grottello and see views of the Amalfi Coast and eat a robust meal and spend less ! read more

Had my first meal there last evening. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly . The food clearly well described as Italian street fair exceeded my expectations. The stuffed zucchini flower was light and very tasty with a solid red sauce. We had the Veneto flank steak sandwich which was my favorite very tasty well prepared and filling. If you're lucky enough to find yourself in Capri and don't own a yacht, million dollar house, or a car that costs more than my house, then go off the beaten path and find Lo Sfizio. It's not even that far from the central piazza (just look for the signs on the tiles and follow them), and you will be rewarded with a great place where locals eat! We chose to sit indoors to avoid mosquitoes, but they do have a nice outdoor area. There is also a playground next to the restaurant where we saw parents drop off their kids while eating outside. Service was one of the best we had on the island with waiters who actually care about your dining experience. Food: -Caprese salad: I pretty much ordered this everywhere I went on Capri since it's what they're known for. Lo Sfizio serves a great buffalo mozzarella--soooo creamy! -Caprese ravioli: Are you sensing a theme here? They give you a good portion of ravioli and even though it's really just cheese ravioli, it was still very good. The ravioli had a good amount of cheese and the tomato sauce wasn't acidic. -Calzone (sfalatini): I don't remember the name of which one we ordered, but it had ham and cheese in it. The calzone was really big and could easily be shared among 2 people. It was fine, not terrible, but not amazing either. In hindsight, we should've tried one of their pizzas instead. read more

So nice we ate there twice! Two nights in a row. Just returned from Capri and enjoyed my meals in Italy (we were also on the Amalfi coast) at Lo Sfizio. Just get ready for a trek. It's about a good twenty minute walk from Piazza Umberto with major inclines. The upside is you will be walking off all the calories you'll be taking in! On the first night I had the small fried appetizer plate, average and a little heavy but my entree, the "chef" pasta (smoked cheese with sausage and eggplant served with spaghetti) was AMAZING. This dish was the reason we returned. On the second night we had the caprese salad (mozzarella and cherry tomatoes) which was the BEST I've had. The cheese and tomatoes were absolutely fresh and savory. We cleaned our plates and were totally guilt free knowing that we couldn't replicate this gastro experience anywhere else. I took a star off since we were seated outside the main dining area next to a fence which was a little dark and not as nice. Otherwise all was on point including the service-down to the complimentary yummy limoncello they give you as a send off. read more

This is our 2nd trip to Italy, our first in Capri. Thanks to yelp, we discovered Lo Sfizio. It was a bit of a walk from the town center but totally worth it! They clearly specialize in pizza as we saw non-stop take out orders being picked up by locals. The majority if not all of their diners while we were there were locals which is the key to finding authentic cuisine. We had the marinated anchovies, paccheri al coccio (homemade macaroni with scorpion fish filleted tableside), pizza with parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, pommodorro and arugula. Every single bite was yum! And yes, we over ordered but ate everything anyway. They also served us with homemade limoncello to finish off our meal and generously left the whole bottle with us! Our server, Lucia, was charming, funny and efficient. We love talking to locals when we travel which allows us to truly appreciate the culture and people. We sat outdoors which was lovely and fun to people watch as we saw local residents walking by to merely say "ciao!" or picking up cartons of pizza for the familia's dinner. Don't waste your money on the more expensive fancy restaurants. Come here for a delicious and authentic experience. The night before, we dined at the fancy Terrazza Brunella and if I had known better, I would've spent my euros at Lo Sfizio for a repeat meal. read more

And the prices are super reasonable for what you get. We went 3 times in 2 days and may go back to Capri just to eat here again! We always order the diavola pizza to start, and upgrade to buffalo mozzarella and add mushrooms. It's probably the best pizza I've ever had. We ordered a few pastas too and all were amazing. On our last Day, we asked if we could order half portions of the pasta so that we could try two different ones, and they let us do that. My husband and I rarely eat pasta in London or the USA, but the food is so fresh here that we never felt bloated or heavy afterwards. Wish they had cooking classes! Can't wait to go back one day! Lo Sfizio is one of the more popular restaurants in Capri and defintely was our best meal here. The food is of great quality and taste but you definitely will need reservations unless you want to wait in line. There's not a ton of places open to eat at in Capri at night time, so this was a good spot to have dinner on the patio with a nice bottle of wine. I love pasta and they do not skimp or disappoint here. The pizza was better than what I had in Naples to be honest. We came based on the reviews but it really was delicious. Lo Sfizio is a bit off the beaten path within Capri. That is to say it's not in the main area, but 10 minutes walk from Piazza. We went there looking for family style restaurant. And that's precisely what we found - with center prices!! The location was across two sides of the street. There were lots of waiters and they were all nice but English language was limited to few of them. But in general they were helpful and efficient. The risotto was good but not great (Risotto with Lemon), the Veal was good but not great. The rest of the food on the table was similar. Maybe we were extremely spoiled with great food elsewhere but the food didn't stand out. The bill was expensive for my taste. I paid same price as I have elsewhere. So price can't be a reason to visit Lo Sfizio. If you're bored of the main area, it's a good alternative but else no need to walk up hill... read more

The waitress suggested something we had never tried before - sfilatini which turned out to be a great suggestion as an alternative to pizza. Forget the overpriced tourist restaurants -- walk to the top of the hill where the locals go to eat and enjoy some of the best Italian cuisine with some must-try local dishes. Locally owned -- the wife is a waitress and the husband is the chef -- this restaurant is a bit of a hike up the hill into a neighborhood. It seems that you are on a road to nowhere until you reach the top where there is indoor and outdoor seating and torches making it an exotic evening setting. A must try is the local wrapped pizza (I forgot the name of the dish -- I think it might be named after the restaurant). It is like a calzone with the ingredients wrapped inside but longer, and definitely a full meal. I had asked a local in the town for directions to another guide-book well-rated restaurant (Aurora on Via Fuorlovado) but it was full of over-the-top millionaire wannabes and an extremely over-priced menu. We started wandering further up the hill and another local recommended this restaurant. Later we saw the first local bringing his family there to eat, so it seems to be a favorite among the locals, and well-deserved. Again, it is a steep walk, but well worth it! read more

What a gem. A local recommended this place to us. It's 5-10 minutes from the main square in Capri. Would have never found it if not for the recommendation. This place is special. Caprese Salad was incredible. Possibly the best I had in all of Italy. My pasta was fantastic. We split sautéed mushrooms and a plate of sautéed broccoli rabe loaded with garlic. We had to go back our last night on the island for a second round because we knew we would dream of this food after leaving.
