Menu & cool buzzer for the waiter/check
    Cece Y.

Anthony Bourdain mentioned this trendy tapas restaurant on "No Reservations", so I had to stop by while in Barcelona. It's located far away from tourist traps. Like most of Spain, it doesn't get boisterous until very late, i.e. after midnight. It was empty, quiet and laidback around 7-8 PM. We even saw young parents dining indoors with a sleeping infant! It was that quiet. Not a fan of the sneaky way they served us bread without telling us they'd charge us for it later. There's no such thing as complimentary anything in Barcelona! We ordered El Potito - the baby jar containing egg, potato and truffle oil. It was good, but not thaaaat good, like all the reviews here suggest. The DimSum was pretty good, but pricey - the price listed on the menu is actually for just one piece, not two. The Kryptonite dessert (percentage of the proceeds goes to a kids charity) had a great presentation. A waiter came out in full character: Dressed as a superhero, he recited a monologue about his mission with Star Wars music playing in the background. The dessert itself wasn't good, but the entertainment aspect was worth it!

Nice place, with a different design. We went for dinner, and had: caesar salad (which comes in a different way, very nice by the way); vieiras tapas and navara. The lettuce from the caesar salad was not very good washed, I could find some bugs eggs on it. The chicken was fried. Vieira and navara were good, but they had too much cheese on it and I couldn't really taste them, the cheese flavor dominated. It is a good bar for Happy Hour and for the public that enjoy fried dishes.

My salad in a flower pot

Wow, what an amazing find and recommendation by a random dude I met on the train. He started chatting me up about the awesome tapas and drinks at La Gabinoteca and he was not wrong at all! I visited on Friday night just thinking I would grab a quick glass of wine, but after looking at the plates I decided to order the not your average casear salad. I was unsure what I was getting myself into especially when they brought out two flower pots. One of the flower pots had a pair of scissors sticking out of what looked like leafy grass and the other pot had pieces of lightly breaded chicken and what kind of looked likes grilled onions. A plate was placed in front of me, so I did what I thought I should do--dump the lettuce onto my plate and commence to cutting it up, literally. I cut up some lettuce, while adding some chicken, "onions", and dressing and commenced to mixing. After making a mess I put some of the lettuce back in the pot and started eating. Everything completed each other very well. The chicken and sauce were not too salty and the lettuce was thick and fresh. What I was unable to discover was what was with the chicken-- if it was onions or some othet type of vegetable. Whatever it was, it was amazing and a little sweet and went so well with the rest of the salad. As I ate the salad I took sips of my glass of rosé wine, which was slightly sweet and complemented my salad very well. They had a variety of wines and spirits and tapas on their menú, which comes in English and Spanish. For dessert I had their chocolate moose, which is so rich and chocolately. In between the richness there are little chunks of brownie, which were a nice surprise! Every bite just melts in yout mouth!! I have to also mention how cool this place looks on the inside. It has dim lighting throughout and their are various levels. I sat on the bottom floor at the bar, but as I looked up their were stairs to one part of the restaurant near the hostess. Then in front of that there were other stairs to another seating area. And then next to me there was seating in a hammock that had a long chain that hung from the ceiling. Everything was decorated with metalics. Such a cool place to just look at. I did love that I sat at the bar as I was able to see the staff making every thing! The care and dedication that they take to make the food is outstanding. Every dish they take their time at and it tastes delicious. I plan on returning here next Friday when my mom comes to visit me. The atomsphere, the food, and service are just amazing! I felt very well taken care of by the staff and even the manager came by and said hello. Definitely recommend this spot!!

This place is spacious with nice trendy interiors as well outdoor seating space. The fact that they have a chairlift for people in need is pretty amazing. My husband and I made reservations for lunch but that didn't seem necessary. They had the menu in English, which is helpful. We got the Salmorejo and Ravioli frio de burrata to start with. Both were delicious and I would highly recommend it. Then we got the Garbanzos which was good but nothing to rave about. El tartar de Salmon was good and the Carrillera had a pretty strong taste. Im not too sure if I liked it. Crema de queso dessert was the winner of the entire meal. Overall service was a bit on the slower side but very pleasant and cheerful staff.

Just go here. The food is amazing and completely reasonably priced considering the quality, inventiveness, and detail that goes into it. Service: Since we didn't speak Spanish, in a meaningful way, it was a little difficult for us to communicate with the staff, but they were always open to working with us, which is always appreciated. Also, I wanted a Vodka con Aqua ye Lemon, which is NOT heard of in Spain, so even with the language barrier they made sure I was satisfied. Food: We really splurged here and had the Foie Brûlée, Stilton, Foie Gras "Ravioli", Lightly roasted flattened shrimp topped with caviar, "hot dog", and a cream cheese dessert (see pictures). I found everything to be amazing but would suggest the "musts" would be the Foie Ravioli, flattened shrimp, and this egg/foie dish that we tried to order but must have been lost in translation. The table next to us ordered it and we were jeal. See Pictures

    Dessert that left us confused

I almost wanted to be nice and give them three stars but I wanted to stay true to myself as a foodie. We ordered a lot things and nothing was outstanding. There was a duck with tortilla wrap dish that was trying to mimick Peking duck and it was really bad (too wet too sweet). The desert was also disappointing because they brought out complicated presentations and just left for us to figure out. The service is also on the slower side, so we had a 2.5 hours dinner unintentionally. I do like the presentation of food (too cool for me to understand) and the ambiance (pretty hip), but as a foodie, it wasn't all there.

La Gabinoteca is a hip restaurant hidden within a neighborhood. It is off the beaten path where you will not find many tourists. This restaurant has a young hip clientele. The food is good and not overly priced. I had the deep fried artichokes, the ravioli, the tuna, and scallop tapas. All the tapas were good, but had too much salt for my taste, but most people would be fine with it.

Really friendly service despite the fact that neither party spoke each other's languages very well. Decor was probably the coolest I have seen in a restaurant with fun little details. The food was great - we ordered the Galician steak, pizza, potato egg truffle in a pot, artichokes, bacalao in a cup and a couple of desserts. We even went with our 5 year old and 11 month old and they were totally cool with it. I don't known if I'd go three nights in a row like a previous yelper but I definitely did enjoy it. Four stars because my husband wasn't impressed with the steak or bacalao.

Simple and unique place in the Chamberi barrio. Thanks to Anthony Bourdain for putting it on the map. Had a wonderful diner/ authentic tapas and drinks. Particularly liked the hotdog or should I say the "perrito caliente con pedigree". The home-made foie gras was amazing. Casual and eclectic deco - you need to try the ski lift :). Only one little thing, if you could have a menu in English, this may be hard for some people to get all of it.

The sangria was pretty good, obviously.

After coming back, we saw a tapas tour coming in. They came there for the croquettes and the vermut. We ordered the boletos, sweetbreads, pulpo, and, of course, the callos. The server tried to help us out and said those should be enough since there was just 2 of us dining. They give you free iberico with cheese and crispy pork belly for appetizers. Every dish was a hit! Boletos with egg and truffle felt very rustic, savory, delicious. Truffle was not overpowering, mushrooms were fresh. Sweetbreads was our favorite out of the meal. It was like a step down from actual foie gras. Goes well with beer and wine. The galician pulpo was the best one we had on our trip, and we had 3 of them beforehand. And lastly the callos. At this point we've already hit a wall with all the food we had, servings were a good size per dish. It was rich, decadent, and perfectly cooked. It doesn't have the offal aftertaste you get from tripa that's ill prepared. We had multiple beers and wines throughout the meal. The service was personally phenomenal. They checked on us constantly and made sure the food was as we expected. We're going back for lunch tomorrow

We walked in the restaurant and checked out the menu. One of the managers came up to us and told us that unfortunately in this part of the restaurant the wait was going to be long. He told us that there was another part of the restaurant around the corner. The manager personally walked us there and got us a table. Our servers brought out bread and showed us the menu and wine list. One of my friends decided to order a bottle of wine which three of my friends shared. The menu was all in Spanish, but the staff helped us with the words that we did not know and we ordered. I decided to order the spicy beef, peppers, potatoes, and fried egg. Everything flowed together very well and had just the right amount of spice. It was a little greasy, so I did not eat a lot of it as I was not super hungry and did not want any stomach problems later--smile. The staff brought out dessert for my friends, which was carrot cake and flan that looked so amazing! Our bill was brought out and we all noticied that there was a 6 euro charge for our bread. Bread in Spain is super inexpensive, so why they would charge us 6 euros for five small pieces of hard bread I do not know. Other than that our food was delicious and the service was great as well!!

One of the trickiest parts of travel? Timing the vibe. You can have the best recommendations, the…read moreright outfit, and the crew ready to go--but if the energy's off, it's off. Spain, famously, runs late. Dinner isn't dinner until 9:00 PM, minimum. And the party? It doesn't even warm up until midnight. So there we were, wandering the city streets at 10-ish, already two drinks in, hungry for adventure--and just slightly off-sync with the nightlife rhythm. Phones in hand, we played the usual game: app-hop, review-skim, vibe-check. We tried a few spots--each either too quiet or clearly recovering from last night's chaos. Three attempts in, the group hit a wall: tired, tipsy, and borderline feisty. But something told us to keep going. That's when my wingman and I backtracked--past a velvet rope we'd passed earlier. Two sharply dressed bouncers stood outside a low-profile building. No flashing signs. No loud crowd. Just posture and presence. A place that invests in the right doormen, I figured, probably gets a lot of other details right, too. We approached. A nod. A door opens. Then another. And just like that, the mood shifted. We walked into a full-blown production--music pounding, the bar staff moving like choreography, strangers dancing like best friends. It felt like a scene from a high-budget musical... except we weren't watching it. We were in it. We looked at each other and grinned like idiots. We'd found it. That thing travelers chase but rarely catch: a spontaneous, untamed, perfect night. Suddenly the questions came flooding in: Why didn't we come here sooner? How did we almost miss this? Why were there so many beautiful people here? But we didn't stay in question mode for long. We dove in--drinking, dancing, flirting, laughing. The energy was electric. The connection, effortless. Sadly, we only had an hour before closing. But we made it count. And as we spilled out into the night, breathless and buzzing, we asked the most important question of all: "When are we coming back?" This place? It's more than a bar--it's a movement. I've since seen videos of Karol G making an appearance, and heard rumors they're opening new locations. Whoever's behind this? Congratulations. You've found a way to bottle Mexico's best party energy and ship it across the globe. We'll be back. Next time, earlier--and ready.

I'll admit that when we got there it was awesome but very intimidating. The places were packed with SPANISH PEOPLE! Gasp! Exciting. So we took a big Gulp like big kids and walked right into one and a wonderful waitress took us under her wing. She told us to call her Indiana Jones so that's what I'm gonna do. She was lovely and from the Dominican Republic. Anyway, we happily ordered two glasses of Rioja (which was amazing and cheap) and the pulpo (octopus) because that was her favourite. The pulpo was freaking amazing. It was charred/grilled and came out in one piece. It was also with a very flavourful (and oily) sauce that was amazing with bread. The octopus itself was a fantastic texture, cooked perfectly, and went very nicely with the wine. Indiana Jones happily served us even at 12:30 despite it getting quite late but apparently they were open until 2. Next we had the fried calamari which was super fried and oily but oh my god it was good. I must say, this was an incredible experience. The location was fantastic, so was the food, so was Indiana, and so was the wine. Yay.
