Unfortunately, i was not able to experience the knock on the small door to get my coffee. They also have tables and chairs inside. Even if they are very famous, they were able to preserve high quality coffee. I wanna come back for my 3rd coffee. Best PISTACHIO AFFOGATO so far. Just to share with you, this shop has an amazing and sweet crew. I can't stress enough how grateful we are to you today. I was in line for the coffee while my husband and toddlers are outside waiting, then the rained poured heavily. When I came out to find my husband, i found them soaking wet and were helped by staffs of Vivoli (at the back of their store). They let my family in the back, gave them towels and also offered shirts. If this is Italian culture, I love ITALY!!!!!!! They are so kind and hospitable. We will be forever GRATEFUL. From what I've seen, it tends to be more crowded in the afternoon than in the morning, and that matched my experience. The line looked long at first, but there are actually two lines you can join, so it moves more efficiently than it seems. From getting in line to receiving my affogato, the whole process took about 20 minutes. Most people grab their affogato and sit along the street to enjoy it before bringing their dishes back. It's a fun, casual atmosphere and well worth the wait if you're in the area.

We finally decided on caramello de salle, sofia, nocciola, and creme de fiorentina. Caramello de Salle- The caramel flavor is deep and rich without being overly sweet. You get the sea salt in the end. Sofia- This has a custard base with chocolate chips and candied orange. The base is creamy and the chocolate provides a contrast while the orange gives you a burst of citrus. Nocciola- This is starting to be one of my favorite gelato flavors. The hazelnut flavor is rich and has just the right amount of sweetness. Creme de Fiorentina- Simple but delicious. The base is smooth and custardy and goes well with whatever second flavor you pair it with. Great experience overall!

Eating this gelato makes me very happy, and I would like to come back to Florence and eat it every day of my life until I die, fat and happy.
