La Chata had a long line again so I went here instead. There was no line and it was almost empty which was a sign but I decided to try it since our driver earlier had said this spot is good. The food was mixed, The OJ tasted a little off. The chicken mole was good.

This was my second choice and came here because there wasn't a long line to get in. So let's start with the good: no line, service is good, fair pricing and food came out fast. Now for the bad: the food was absolutely bland and disappointing. I'm Mexican and have had better Mexican food in the states. The mole enchiladas had little to no flavor...even the onions on the side were bland and didn't taste like anything. The tarro cítrico was also nothing to rave about. Tasted similar to squirt soda. 3 stars for good service and convenience but I wouldn't eat here again.

This is where all the locals go for authentic Mexican food!! Check this place out.... Chilaquiles looked and tasted like it was made from home. Like you're eating in your own kitchen but with live music in the back ground and conversations all around you.

Omg BOMB.com and $25 USD for 3 people to eat and drink it was the Best!! I've eaten at many places in Mexico but this has to be one of my favorites and I was happy to pay $24.75USD

This place was packed when we walked in and the reviews were good, was so I thought for sure it would be good. But I wasn't impressed. We got a table in the back, which was next to the cleaning closet. It smelled soOoOo bad, and they kept opening the door to get to the mops and brooms, which would let out the smell. It was super unappetizing. The food wasn't horrible, but I was very underwhelmed. I ordered the enchiladas with beef and they were very bland. My husband and dad ordered the Plato Surtito, which was a variety of tacos, enchiladas and floutas. Everything on that plate mostly made of just cheese and no meat. And it was also all bland. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I had the pozole with chicken. Wow.

The last time I had this was maybe 18 years ago? My friend's mom made it for a party and never found another place comparable. This was perfect. Home cooked taste to it, not too salty, the chicken was tender. Served with three baked tortillas and limes. Chips and salsa are complimentary.

I enjoyed almost everything! The only thing I didn't like was how we were being asked for food while we were eating. Homeless people would stand in front of the table watching us eat until we gave them something. Staff didn't do nothing.

Very close to Hotel Morales, walking distance. Food was good, service was great and prices are very reasonable. We arrived at 11pm which is their closing time but the happily accepted us. There were out of the guacamole appetizer and other stuff since it was so late. The fried beans appetizer was ok, nothing fabulous. The mixed antojitos plate with sopes, enchiladas and tacos was ok but it was more cheese based. The enchiladas were cheese, the sopes were cheese and the fried tacos were stuffed with mashed potatoes and I was expecting beef or chicken. The shredded beef fried tacos were very good!

Very tasty food. Inexpensive for the flavors; definitely a casual dining experience. Cute decor and fun pottery on the tables.

A Stage Set for Fire and Flavor…read more La Casa de los Platos, a massive restaurant set along a boulevard of equally grand dining halls in Guadalajara's upscale district, thrives on spectacle. Its open-air courtyard, framed by stone and saturated with color, hums with loud music and theatrical flair. The guacamole, made by hand at the table, embodies that performance. Avocados are crushed in a stone molcajete, and the spread arrives bright and tangy. Yet, it's complicated by unnecessary additions--cheese chunks and chicharrón--that crowd out the fruit's natural elegance. A mere five totopos felt stingy, though a sack of piping hot corn tortillas--generous, soft, and fragrant--rescued the moment. At a requested "level 3 of 10," the spice soared higher than expected, a jolt that overwhelmed rather than accented. The rib eye tacos with shrimp and bone marrow extended the show, grilled before us over roaring flames. They were hearty, flavorful, and undeniably filling, but also excessively oily. The flavors--shrimp's brine, marrow's depth, beef's richness--blurred into a dish trying to impress on too many fronts. It was delicious, yes, but a reminder that tacos often shine brightest in their simplicity. Later, a live mariachi band replaced the nightclub thrum, a refreshing turn toward tradition and warmth. Service was fine but forgettable, efficient enough without leaving an impression. In the end, La Casa de los Platos is a spectacle tailored for a high-heeled crowd seeking grandeur. The flavors are bold, the showmanship bigger still--but subtlety rarely takes the stage. #GuadalajaraEats #FoodCritique #LaCasaDeLosPlatos
