This was my first time tasting Peruvian food and it was absolutely delicious!!!! I can't decide if the Bistec or gallina was my favorite! The flavors were amazing and presentation of the food was beautiful!! I dont recall the drink I ordered, but it's a very traditional Peruvian drink that was tasty but very strong!!! More on the tart side. I will definitely be going back!!!

Upon entering, there is a funny smell to the place. It looks old and outdated with minimal lighting. It's as if the restaurant has not been well kept. The restaurant could use an update to the place to attract more clientele. While we went on a Friday night and with so much space and being they are on a main road, expected more traffic in. The service was great however. Our waitress was very attentive refilling our cups and asking if we needed anything else. My husband ordered the ceviche de camarón con mango. It was very refreshing and tasted fresh. I ordered the empanadas de res that came with a yellow sauce that's was not too spicy. The stuffing was minced beef with olives, peppers and onion. The empanadas were a bit burnt on the outside. The taste was ok. The seco de res plate was very delicious. Favorite part was the beans mixed in with the beef stew that was a nice flavorful touch. It was a really great plate. For dessert, we ordered the alfajores that came in 6. The were ok but my son really enjoyed them because of the caramel so ordered a second.

Good food and decent service. Highly recommended. The ceviche dishes are well flavored and great mix of seafood.

While driving around found this Peruvian spot and took a chance on it. My wife us Peruvian and I go to Peru a few times per year so I have tastes great food to compare. This place so far impressed us, we started with a normal drink by name of Chica Morada which was a great start. We then had Tamales which me and my wife started out with a Pork Tamale and Chicken Tamale, my neice tasted it and ordered her own. I was a bit confused by the chips at first but saw the sauces and was happy. Only gripe was green sauce wasn't the normal one I'm use to without that garlic taste. I got Cerviche Mixto, my wife got Lomo Saltado and my neice got Cerviche Naive. All was on point! We ended it with traditional Alfajordes and Arroz con Leche again we weren't disappointed. Food was great and the price was great too. I am coming back in a week before I leave to go back home. So if in the neighborhood go check it out. I will try something different next time, can't wait!

First time having Peruvian food & was not disappointed! Started out with a chicken tamel and the chicha morada (purple corn drink) really enjoyed both. The chicha morada is served with pears in it and is kind of sweet but not too much. The chips are served with a green sauce & a spicy sauce & are super tasty! For entree I had basically a beef stew served with rice and red onions. The beef was super tender and overall I was impressed. My friends dish had fried plantains which were really good. Overall a good experience. Really wanted to try the desserts but was so full from the other food. They have good dessert options for sure. Will definitely come back here.

The food is so fresh and delicious. I had never been to a Peruvian restaurant and I have been many times after my first visit. The desserts are also incredibly delicious.

I'd driven by this place quite a few times when heading out to Windchimes or West Oaks, but had never stopped by until a friend of mine insisted we try it for dinner. Having found some Peruvian heritage of his own through a 23-and-Me test, I figured he was biased, but the place was actually pretty good. I went with the bistec a lo pobre, a small steak with plantains, rice, a fried egg, and avocado. I wasn't expecting much, but the food was surprisingly good. The meat was well seasoned, the egg was over-easy so it didn't turn into an absolute mess in the plate, and the pyramid of rice just made for the perfect photo op. The place was pretty empty when we swung by, so service was spectacular. I plan on going back and trying out this place again sometime soon.

First time trying Peruvian food! This spot serves up amazing dishes. The plates are big and definitely shareable. I love how there is such a variety of dishes that can appeal to any type of eater with any type of dietary restriction. The servers are also so sweet and attentive. On the down side, my stomach and my friends stomach was hurting after, and we were gassy. Maybe our stomach wasn't used to the heavy starches.

    Ceviche Mixto
    My Q.

The ceviche here is DELCIOUS! Relatively big portion for the price. The fish tastes fresh and firm, not fishy (already accounting for the cilantro ans lime juice). My favorite is the ceviche pescado con mango; the sweetness of the young, not too ripe mango pairs well with the sourness. I also highly recommend their Arroz Con Mariscos - flavors just burst in your mouth. The in-house sauce for rice is rich but not creamy which I like. The dish is also loaded with seafood. Their jalea peruana is also good - i ordered it on accident thinking it was dish featured on the menu cover, which actually was the Arroz con Mariscos (see! More reason to try that dish. It's featured!). Anyways, the batter is crispy and well-seasoned but the dish is oily for me. Still good, though if you like fry food. A lovely and homey restaurant! My waiter was very sweet, polite, and helpful. While there weren't a lot of customers at the time I went, there were many customers who ordered takeout. This restaurant makes me want to try more Peruvian cuisine!

Alright, so anytime I eat cuisine from other Latin countries, my biased taste buds take over, because I grew up eating home made from scratch Mexican food. I mean the kind where seafood is involved too! So, there's gonna be high expectations and mamá bias. The place was dead when we came, but the service and food quality do not match with how not busy this place was. The place was clean, attractive, everything you'd want in a decent restaurant. The waiter was kind, patient, and gave great tips and advice on what to order. I ordered a paella like dish, that came with shrimp, clams, oysters, and just all around yummy seafood. The sauce, seafood, rice, and little details, created a melt in your mouth experience. All the flavors just went so well together and I was beyond full by the time I was done. My husband ordered something boring, but it was actually alright, though not as good as my plate. The bad thing about this place is there is no real online presence, aside from a few Google notes, and Yelp, so you can't peruse the menu ahead of time and without Yelp or in my case my friend wanting to celebrate his Peruvian heritage, you won't hear about this place. I would definitely return to eat here again, it's just a little bit out of my way. The seafood was stupendous and I think it would have even made my mother proud, because I sure liked it. Though, I wouldn't necessarily tell that to her face, cause you know, pride and all. It's worth a visit and I am certain if you like seafood, you'll become a fan of Peruvian food too.

Lomo Saltado (ask for medium rare!)
    Leo K.

My first stab at Peruvian food ever and I was quite nervous, because I didn't have a clue what Peruvian cuisine was like. At the recommendation of a co-worker, who in the past had spent a couple months on a short term assignment in Peru, eating Peruvian foods every single day, our whole team gathered at La Guitarra Con Sazon for lunch. After looking over the menu about 10 times, I finally decided to go with the first and what seems to be the most standard dish they had - the Lomo Saltado. This dish was described as wok sauteed beef tenderloin with tomatoes, onions, and garlic, served with french fries and rice. I requested for the beef to be medium rare as I placed my order, and boy did the chefs deliver. Each cube of beef was not only cooked to a perfect medium rare, but were so soft and tender. The sauce was uniquely flavorful but not overwhelming at all. What was surprising was that the sauce perfectly complimented the french fries that were tossed in with everything, and it brought out this deep potato flavor despite the crispiness of the fries being compromised (I usually hate soggy fries). And not to mention this dish was a combo of my favorite ingredients: meat, potatoes, onions, rice/carbs. Maybe the fact that it was a late lunch played a role in my appetite, or maybe not, but I went to town with this amazingly delicious dish. The second time I returned I wanted to see what Peruvian Fried Rice was. To my surpise, it tasted exactly like Chinese fried rice. Its wasn't even about the soy sauce used in the rice, but the pork itself tasted exactly like the BBQ Pork you would pick up from an Asian supermarket. It wasn't bad fried rice, just nothing Peruvian about it at all. #165

My 2 gfriends and I came Sunday at 11:30am for my birthday brunch. I didn't like the complimentary chips and dip. Chips were thick and dip had no flavor. We ordered a pitcher of sangria with Peruvian wine, strong stuff but good $28. Service was great, sweet ladies. I ordered the mango ceviche and the bistec la pobre. Both were very fresh and tasty although I wasn't full. Small steak piece. I ordered their orange colored creamy hot sauce on the side. That was tasty. When we left at 1:30pm it was still dead. They did give us complimentary tres leches cake for my birthday. Very good. It's on the wet side...the cake. I'd definitely be back if it was closer to me

Their menu consists of apps (mostly fried), soups and salads, lobster dishes, steaks, vietnamese seafood dishes, shellfish entrees (clams, scallops, etc), an oyster section, stir fry dishes, rice creations, and fried seafood dishes. They serve beer and wine but have some Asian wine-based cocktails. This is truly a fusion restaurant since they have Vietnamese, American, Chinese, Thai, and Peruvian influences on their menu. They have boiled seafood, of course, including crawfish during the season. On every table is also a $12.95 lunch menu with soups, sandwiches and seafood dishes. This may be one of the better deals out there. We tried a few dishes: drunken lobster, surf and turf, crab fried rice, drunken tofu, and shrimp with salted egg. Two additional people in our group came a little later and actually ordered the lunch special (pork chop plate) and chicken wings. Their napkins are a little strange as they're tri-fold style like you would normally see in a restroom. The dishes were pretty good, but I ended up eating mostly noodles since their garlic noodles are pretty addicting. The sirloin that came on the steak dish was supposedly a little tough but that is typical of a basic sirloin steak. I didn't actually get to sample it since other people grabbed it before I could. They only had L and XL size lobster the day we came...so they said their prices were around $90 and $108...I think we selected the $90 size. The drunken lobster dish can be shared between 2 people as it's a big platter but just 1 cut up lobster. The garlic noodles beneath the lobster pieces on the drunken lobster are way better than the noodles beneath the shrimp and steak on the surf and turf since they are stir-fried with lots of onions, jalapeños and what seemed to be small ground pork/beef chunks.

You pick what you want in your bag, and you can get as much as you like. There's only a surcharge if you get extra crab legs, king crab, or lobster, which makes sense. I chose the spiciest boil with all three flavor seasonings combined, and it was delicious. The spice level was good but it was still tolerable. For sides, I tried the lemon pepper wings and the garlic noodles. The garlic noodles were sooo good. I wanted another order but it was no way I could finish it. The big chicken wing was also tasty. My friend ordered hush puppies, but I didn't even get a chance to try them because they disappeared the second they hit the table. The shrimp fried rice was fine, but the noodles were definitely better. Between the cook-to-order sides, the fresh flavors, the generous portions, and the quick, friendly service. I'll definitely be back!

When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. It came with crawfish fried rice and they did not skimp on the crawfish! It was very good. I also got a side of fried fish because I love a good crispy piece of fried catfish. That was delicious as well! Idk what they put in the mikes sauce but it was hittin! The staff was very friendly and helped me make decisions and talked me through the menu.

I actually drove an entire hour in bad weather just to try it and it was worth every single minute. From the first bite, the flavor was unforgettable. The seasoning is executed to perfection bold, buttery, Cajun-forward with the ideal balance of salt and spice. Rich, well layered, and deeply satisfying. The crawfish were easily some of the best I've ever had: generously sized, beautifully seasoned, and packed with flavor. While a few were smaller, they were still impressively meaty, which speaks to the overall quality and consistency. Every bite delivered that crave-worthy, finger licking goodness. We also ordered the shrimp and crawfish fried rice combo, and fried tilapia and it was phenomenal hands down one of the best fried rice dishes I've had in a long time. The flavors were bold and perfectly infused throughout. Just thinking about it again has my mouth watering. The service was exceptional friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The ambiance has a lively bar-style vibe with music always playing, and they even offer live music at times, which makes it a great spot to dine in. I'm already planning to come back to experience it in person. If a place is good enough to drive an hour through bad weather for, it's doing something right. Mike's Seafood is easily one of the best seafood spots in Houston, and I'll absolutely be back.

Michael, the owner, greeted us and took care of us! We started with the Jumbo Crab Fingers which were really good - I'm honestly not huge on seafood, so I enjoyed these a lot more than I thought I would. Ironically, I'm not big on oysters either, so I ordered the Jumbo Golden Fried Shrimp which hit the spot real good. Large shrimp, well fried, flavored, and the tartar sauce was addicting. The fries that came with it were perfectly seasoned, carrying a bit more of a cajun flavor rather than just regularly salted. My parents definitely enjoy oysters, so they ordered the Charbroiled Oysters and really enjoyed it, as well as the Uni Oyster with Quail Egg. They also got the Cowboy Lobster Shrimp Roll that was gone before I even took a second look their way. We finished the meal with a yummy, dense basque cheesecake! Every customer that came in during our time there was personally greeted by Michael, and it seemed like they were all repeat customers. It was really cool to see that kind of connection, and it really showed how much Michael cares about his customers, and how much we like his food! Indoor seating is a bit limited - all bar stool seating. I rarely comment on the music that a restaurant plays, but I quite liked it! Made me feel like I was on the bay enjoying some fresh seafood at sunset. Heard they'll be opening up their newest location at POST soon!

Everything was detailed and you can feel how passionate they are about the food. We started off with the Gumbo and Lobster Bisque. The gumbo has a nice roux and full of flavor with shrimp, rice, and other tasty bits. The lobster bisque was one of my favorites of the evening with a rich and creamy texture. 5/5 Following the soup, we had some of the freshest Prince Edward Island oysters in Houston. We didn't try the Gulf oysters in this visit but our neighbor said they were delicious and looked huge. Next we had a ribeye steak with pasta and broccoli as the side. The steak was cooked perfectly and didn't need any sauce but the in house sauce that came with the steak had so much umami flavor, made by Michael as well. Can't wait to come back and try some of the other items on our next visit! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality and experience from end to end.
