Love their menu and their many vegan options! Most non vegan restaurants in Tulum have a few options in their menu. This is my second time in Tulum and the food in La Hoja Verde is still just as amazing as our first time. It's not exactly cheap compared to what you can get in other options such as street food but still way cheaper than American prices. Highly recommend it for lunch. It's typically busy but we came and were the only ones which made service very quick. The place itself is cute and quaint. So do yourself the favor and check it out if you're vegan and even if you're not, you'll still love it! My friends who aren't vegan enjoyed it and said they didn't even miss the meat! read more

Great place! I'm not a vegetarian but needed a respite from all the meat. This little place has a lot going for it. Vegetarian and vegan options. Breakfast, lunch, beer, wine, bar, juices and smoothies with choices other than the normal fruits (spinach, celery, chia, hemp seeds, etc), sweets, pizza, kombucha, coffee, salads, pastas, and crepes. I probably left some things out, but they all were enticing. I had...wait for it...fresh coconut ceviche...yeah, crazy, right? A strange but interesting concoction. Replace the seafood with fresh coconut slices. Your jaw will get a good workout! I also had the Popeye smoothie- apple, lemon, celery, ginger, spinach, and chia seeds. Tulum is a vegetarian Mecca! Many of the restaurants have multiple different options for homemade veggie burgers. All the veggie burgers I had were delicious, but La Hoja Verde was my favorite! I also enjoyed the empanadas and juices. read more

First off, the staff are spectacular; they are kind and accommodating. My meal was a taking a little extra time to prepare so they gave my fiancé and I extra chips and salsa and didn't charge me for my smoothie (which was delicious and fresh). I also ordered the passion fruit curry. The curry was sweet with a hint of spice and very flavorful. I could always use a little extra spice in my dishes, but I think the spice level appropriately appeals to the public at large. I enjoyed the curry as well as the rice and pita bread that were paired with it. The prices are reasonable for the product. I will definitely eat here again next time I am in town. read more

I would say check to see if this place is open before 2pm even if it says it isn't. I came in @ 12pm on a day it said it was closed until 2pm. The food was very good, my boyfriend and I enjoyed both choices we got. This is definitely one of the better spots for a vegan to go to while visiting Tulum. Definitely not a traditional spot for the locals but it's a nice healthy alternative to the heavy eateries that are in town. The owners are so friendly and really passionate about what they're doing. The food and drinks are great and best of all - reasonable pricing for the area which I can't say for the other places in town that are more modern. I stopped by here with a large group of friends after visiting the ruins in Tulum. I eat a vegan/plant-based diet and wanted to try this place based on the reviews. Everyone else was curious so they decided to try it with us. The service was great. Our waiter was quick, attentive, and very helpful answering the questions everyone had regarding the menu. The food took a while for them to make. The food received mixed reviews from everyone in our party. The burger was highly recommended as well as the fresh juices and smoothies. The beverages do not contain added sugar. The flavors of the pastor tacos left something to be desired. I ordered the chilaquiles and, being vegan, it had no eggs so, just tortilla and sauce and a little avocado basically. Again....not bad but for the price I was still hungry. I had seen La Hoja Verde when walking around one evening and wandered over to take a peek at the menu. It looked amazing and the restaurant was pretty full with what looked like very happy patrons that evening. I returned for a late lunch the next day and ordered Te Sanador and the Pesto Pasta with vegetables. The tea was incredibly soothing (I asked for it hot) and the blend of flavors was great! The pasta came out not much later and again, the blend of flavors was wonderful. The food was extremely fresh. I loved the atmosphere - as it is just off of the main strip, it is a bit quieter which I appreciated. There were a variety of patrons from locals to tourists as well as young and old. My waiter was very attentive and eager to make sure I had exactly what I needed while I was there. I visited several of the vegan restaurants during my 5 day stay in Tulum and this one was top two! The wait staff is very friendly, the food was incredible and the prices are unbeatable. We got the Bologanesa, Wok de Vegetables and a hummus appetizer. All of the food we enjoyed was wonderful! I could have eaten at this place my whole stay and been happy. What a treat to find a vegan restaurant in Tulum! We had a lovely meal of smoked mushrooms, Asian style dumplings and soy-based tacos "al pastor." The food was very tasty if a tiny bit bland. In contrast to the dinner which was very delicately plated, the dessert we chose (the trufitas de chocolate) was somewhat unappetizing to look at. Cocktails were good. Food is fairly good when you hit it on the right day. I had the sauteed mushrooms which were delicious. My friend had the ratatoullie and it was just ok, not much flavor considering all the vegetables and sauce. The reason why we don't really see ourselves returning is the service. Service is beyond terrible. One guy was running around trying to wait on every single table while the other guy (an older bald man with glasses) refused to work. When we kindly asked for bread and then later wine, because we waited for 20 minutes for the young guy to acknowledge us, he actually huffed at us and later glared when we waited another 30 minutes after asking for the chef. The hash brown omelette stuffed with mushrooms and tomatoes topped with avocado with a side salad was my JAM! It was delicious, filling, and with a juice and americano with almond milk, I was ready for just about anything. The service was friendly, always checking in with us, and the place had a very relaxed vibe to it. Came here for dinner while looking for something healthy. Ordered the Fresno juice which was amazing. Loved the ambiance! My husband ordered the semilla hamburger and I ordered the falafel sandwich. I have to say that my falafel sandwich was dry but would have been fine had there been some kind of sauce. The BBq sauce provided wasn't the best pairing. It lacked any type of mayo or anything. If it had had chipotles mayo or aioli sauce, it would have tasted much better. My husband's hamburger was delicious but slightly bland. The bbq sauce went better with his "hamburger." At the end, the waiter told me it was cash only which was weird. He didn't tell me prior to ordering and I didn't see it printed anywhere. I was fine with that because I had cash. However, I'm sure if I didn't have cash, then I would have been very upset. Not sure of their credit card machine wasn't working but they should be upfront about things like that.
