We have been here twice, once as a large group and the second, 3 friends. the first time was great, they attended us well, food came out fast and very tasty. The second time wasn't as great.... we came around lunchtime so there weren't as many people, but the service was awful! we had to wait almost 20 minutes for the waitress to come and get our order, then she went back in and came back after another 7 minutes. the food came out in a timely manner but we could feel something has changed. I ordered the steak and my friend ordered the ravioli, hers was wonderful! mine was 7/10. We might go again but I reallt cant promise anything.

Just had the BEST steak of my life here, and I grill a mean steak myself! Ordered the "entrana" on the menu, which is skirt steak in Texas. They ask how I wanted it cooked and I told them "the best way" and my GAWD IT WAS PERFECT!!!! Perfectly seasoned as well. Came with a small loaf of bread, french fries, and a salad. I avoided the fries & bread to cram all the meat I could. It really should be shared between 2 ppl...its 2 huge thick slabs of beef. The pick shows it looking uniformly pink but it wasnt bloody or have a raw texture at all: it was perfect. Bonus: bill came to $14USD with a small carafe of wine. BARGAIN!!

Nice atmosphere - lots of wood, bench seating along the long wall opposite the wall and a small internal balcony above the bar. They got the lighting and sound right also. All the meals are served on a wooden board - interesting concept I think. Good service - not rushed, just right. The server was funny in steering me around the menu. A couple of items I asked about and the answer was a bit like "You don't really want that..." and then when I selected something better, the answer came back "that's an excellent choice!" Good food - I had the Chorizo which is grilled and then served on a very hot metal plate with a lemon - outstanding. And, the pizza which is more or less grilled flatbread with the requisite ingredients on top, It was good also. Value - outstanding! I saw many plates go by and the portions are big. Total cost for my meal including a beer and bottled water - 150 pesos (about $15US depending on the day of the week and where you do the exchange - I could write a book on this). One of the coolest parts of the restaurant is that it looked to me like all of the cooking was done behind the bar - a grill, pasta cauldron and pizza oven are all back there while three chefs work away within sight of everyone. This shows a lot of confidence.

This is a good place to spend the night and have lunch ... Good meals but the place is hot, the air conditioner is weak and that obviously makes the moment not enjoyable... I highly recommend order meat!! outstanding!

Pleasant atmosphere for an early dinner Food here is slow to arrive but it looks pretty good (@ the neighboring table ;-) ). Vine is definitely decent and quite affordable. Still waiting for the actual order.

We came here late night during the week. It was one of the only restaurants that was actually open. It was packed and had a long wait. Luckily, we only waited about 3 mins since we were a party of 2. Our waitress was super sweet & the service was great. The interior design is pretty cool although it's very dark in here. My friend had steak (which I also tried) and I had a chicken quesadilla. Both meals were fantastic and the portions were very generous. It's also very inexpensive. Now I understand why it's such a popular spot. Downside: it's cash only. Also, you will feel very tight in your seat. We were seated so close to the couple next to us that we were practically eating with them. Not too terrible but going in a larger group may be a better idea.

Wow, this may have been the best pizza of my life! The margarita pizza was outstanding. We had a small bottle of wine and shared the pizza and house bread and had a perfect late lunch.

While waiting the very minimal time for our table, we were treated to free Prosecco and mini empanadas--I actually managed to enjoy almost two glasses before we were seated! Indoor dining seems to be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis based on your reservation time. We were given an outdoor table, which offered a lovely atmosphere, but it does come with a significant caveat. While Palermo is undeniably one of the nicer neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, its popularity with tourists makes it a target for pickpockets and scammers. If you are dining outside, you need to remain vigilant. During our meal, we witnessed a specific scam happen twice: individuals selling socks would approach outdoor tables and casually lay a few pairs down right over people's belongings. When they picked their merchandise back up, they would subtly swipe whatever was underneath. Be extremely careful and absolutely do not leave your phone or wallet resting on the table. One table managed to get their phone back only after chasing the thief down for several blocks, while an older group nearby wasn't as lucky. To the restaurant's credit, the staff actively pushes these individuals away when they spot them bothering customers, and there was a police officer stationed near the entrance for the entirety of our meal. I never felt unsafe dining there or walking around the area, but falling victim to a scam can easily ruin an evening. If you want a more relaxed experience where you don't have to keep your guard up as much, I highly recommend aiming for an indoor table. Moving on to the meal itself, It absolutely lives up to the hype. We shared the ribeye, and it was fantastic. I might not go so far as to call it the absolute best steak in the world, having had my fair share of great cuts across NYC, LA, Japan, Korea, and Australia, but the quality was undeniable and it was cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauces were excellent, and I absolutely loved the grilled cheese and the house-grown grilled peppers. If you are seated outside, take a moment to step inside, perhaps to use the restroom, just to see the open kitchen and the magnificent wine cellar downstairs. It is incredible to witness the sheer care they put into cooking the meats. What truly sets Don Julio apart, however, is the staff. They are extremely friendly and welcoming, and the service is easily among the best of any restaurant I have visited in the world. To celebrate the birthday, they generously comped one of our appetizers and provided a beautiful dessert. It was an incredibly kind gesture they didn't have to do, and we deeply appreciated the caring hospitality. This is the exact type of restaurant I will always want to come back to whenever I am in Buenos Aires; the food is incredible, but the service is even better.

Did Don Julio's live up to the hype?…read more Can any restaurant ranked #10 in the world by World's Best Restaurants -- and crowned #1 steakhouse three consecutive years -- truly live up to its reputation? I'd say yes, and then some. A word of advice: sit inside. That's where the magic happens. The open-flame grills roaring indoors create an incredible ambiance -- intimate, lively, and unlike anything else. The outdoor seating is charming in its own right (cozy blankets draped over every chair), but the interior is the real experience. Service was exceptional. Before we even ordered, our waiter personally walked us through the kitchen to introduce us to the various cuts on display -- a thoughtful touch that made the whole meal feel like an event. We settled on the ribeye and one other cut, with the ribeye stealing the show: thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection over open flame. To top it all off, the meal came with complimentary champagne, chorizo, empanadas, and dessert -- generous extras that made an already outstanding dinner feel truly special.

The best part is that this is a locals restaurant, and it has such a great feel. The portions here are massive. And that's coming from someone who can usually put away a pretty serious steak. Here, though It's a lot even for me. Was it good Absolutely. But a little heads-up if you're visiting: learn how Argentinians order their meat. If you ask for jugoso, it'll land somewhere between rare and medium rare. Al punto is closer to medium, sometimes even leaning toward medium well depending on the kitchen. And well done. Honestly... don't even think about it. Another tip: don't rush to order sides. Unless you're just getting a salad or you're sharing with more than two people, one plate is usually more than enough. Around here, they believe in feeding you properly and they definitely deliver.
