Surprising good restaurant in a strip mall in Montgomery, AL. We ordered the lamb chops as appetizer and it was perfectly cooked. The medium rare 8oz filet mignon is a teeny bit undercooked, but was delicious nonetheless. The best part of this whole meal was the bread and butter. Warm, hot, toasty bread with crack butter.

On a recent trip to Montgomery, I had to find the best food there! La Jolla did not disappoint. With every seat in the place taken, I ended up at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bartender who was friendly yet professional. His demeanor and care during the entire dinner truly added to my experience. I ordered the pan seared snapper with risotto, and the risotto was the STAR of this dish. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the flavor was just as it should be, the snapper complimented this dish so well and the portion was perfect. With a dimly lit ambience paired with a nice glass of bourbon, it was the perfect ending to an amazing visit to Montgomery.

From start to finish, this was an amazing experience! Everyone we met who was part of the waitstaff were outstanding! We had begun with Mallory as our server, but Michael ended up taking over and he was amazing. So attentive, kind, friendly and knowledgeable! This place has some of the best service I've ever experienced, and I speak from personal experience as a waitress. The food was soooo good to top it all off! My dad had the 12oz pork chop with the miso green beans, my husband and I had the 22oz ribeye for two with a side of the summer sucotash and the miso green beans. The sauces we got were the black garlic truffle butter and the creole brown butter, and some sort of chimmichurri. Our server included the creole brown butter even though we didn't ask for it, just so we could try it. We also got the lamb chops and lobster bisque to start. They were also amazing! Can't recommend this place enough. You must try it! Everything was delicious. Make sure you ask for Michael! He is the best.

The braised lamb shank was excellent. It fell right off the bone. The portion size for the large plates overall was great. The quantity and quality of food was worth the price. In conjunction with the ambiance, this would make a great restaurant to take a date. read more

Went here with a few friends not too long ago and really enjoyed it. I's next Papa John's in a strip mall of all places, but the drinks, food and service are so worth it. We sat at the bar and the bar tender was very chatty and made us laugh, so that was nice. My friend had Salmon that he said was absolutely perfect. I had duck confit and also some wine which was a really great combo. read more

I normally don't leave a review for a place, however La Jolla deserves one as the food can't be out done by any other Restuarant in Montgomery, there are a few that can be just as good, but La Jolla still out performs them all. In addition to the food, the staff is unbelievable and very knowledgable of the food to make sure you have the most memorable experience If you have the chance to eat here, do not pass it up Enjoy read more

Reservation was a breeze to make-- even last minute on a Saturday evening! Food was delicious-- the scallops were perfectly cooked and the La Jolla burger is amazing. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Icing on the cake: the generous military discount (20%!!) We will definitely be back! read more

Easily the best restaurant...hands down, in Montgomery. Service, food, atmosphere, and bar are all waaaay above the norm for this town...and really for most towns. I had Red Snapper the first time and Filet Mignon the second. My wife had Bison Shortribs and Porkchop. Everything was phenomenal....but the porkchop was something really something special. If you live in Montgomery and don't mind paying more than your $13 per plate...for the love of all things food, GO TO LA JOLLA!!! read more

There is not a better place to go in Montgomery. Owner/Chef Todd has created a combination of an elegant, yet relaxed, atmosphere with all meat and fish options cooked on a Big Green Egg. The staff is very attentive and dedicated to serving their guests. If you have not been there go soon. If you have been there I know you will be back. read more

Excellent choice for a nice steak in Montgomery. We were down for a visit from out of town and had a fantastic experience at the bar. Filet was very tender and the cheese curds were great. Thanks to everyone at La Jolla for a great night out. read more

Delicious! Spent our 9th wedding anniversary here and couldn't have chosen a better place! As our first time trying it, we were delightfully surprised at the quality of both of our dishes (and wines), at such a quality price! No pictures to share, as the hubs doesn't like to call attention to ourselves, but the mixed grill plate and seared scallops are both to die for! Get the mixed grill with the sherry and Gorgonzola sauce. Mmmmm, that's all I have the energy to say right now! Enjoyed it with the Hahn Cabernet. Perfect pairing! Hubs got the risotto side, and Chardonnay, with his scallops and thought it was one of his best food pairings ever! At $32 per plate, you can't go wrong with these two selections! I took my date there this past Saturday after an afternoon at the Shakespeare Festival. It was an awesome dining experience from start to finish. The service was awesome with wine and food recommendations. Our food was delicious and the red velvet brownie a la mode was to die for. We will go back again and again. read more

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, we were immediately greeted and made to feel so welcome. The service was attentive, and what really made the night special was the chef coming out to personally speak with us--it added such a thoughtful touch. And let me tell you... the carrot cake was EVERYTHING! Moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious--definitely a must-try. Overall, the entire evening was warm, inviting, and memorable. My pomtini cocktail tasted like straight tequila, not sweet as described, and my short rib lo mein arrived cold, though my boyfriend's steak was cooked to temp and seasoned.
