I regret to say that my experience at La Leche was extremely disappointing and certainly not worth the hype or the price. From the start, there was a significant disconnect between what was promised over the phone and what we actually encountered. A few hours before our reservation, we were told there was a vegetarian tasting menu option available, but upon arriving, we were informed there was no flexibility to substitute any dishes in the regular tasting menu. Not a dealbreaker, so we proceeded with the tasting menu and added a couple of vegetarian items to our order. Here's where things went south: Tasting Menu: The dishes included tuna tartare, oysters, soup, fish wrapped in spinach, beef short ribs with plantain, duck, and dessert. Tuna Tartare: Overwhelmed by too much soy sauce, making it nearly inedible. Oysters: Tasted fine, but the accompanying sides were overpowering and not balanced. Soup: One-dimensional and bland, lacking any complexity. Fish wrapped in spinach: Overcooked, chewy, and not flaky at all. Beef Short Ribs: Mediocre at best, lacking the depth of flavor you'd expect from such a dish. Duck: Completely overcooked, dry, and inedible. Dessert: Bland and forgettable with no real flavor profile. We also ordered a soup as an appetizer, which was even worse than the soup in the tasting menu--just as bland but more disappointing. The cauliflower steak was both undercooked and overcooked at the same time, lacking seasoning but paired with over-salted, overcooked purple carrots. It was a mess of poorly executed dishes. The service was equally underwhelming. Our server merely read the descriptions of the dishes off the menu without offering any insight or enthusiasm. It felt like they didn't care about the dining experience at all, which is reflective of the overall lack of attention to detail and care in the restaurant. To make matters worse, when I brought my concerns to the manager, there was no real effort to address the issues. Their response felt half-hearted, and it was clear they weren't invested in improving the experience for guests. This level of indifference speaks to a larger problem with the restaurant's culture, which seems to tolerate mediocrity and subpar performance. La Leche in Puerto Vallarta was overpriced and severely underwhelming. The food was inconsistent, poorly prepared, and lacking flavor, and the service was uninspired. This was by far the worst meal I've had in Puerto Vallarta, and I can't recommend it to anyone. There are far better dining options in the area that offer far more value for your money. Avoid this place unless you're prepared for a disappointing experience. read more
