Wow! We have been before, but we had kids with us and were in a rush and didn't really venture out of the quick, easy, and normal. Tonight Raphael recommended the Verde sauce on the ribs my husband ordered. They were amazing. The sauce was much spicier than expected, so it was perfect for us. I'll find Raphael for suggestions next time. He told us about some incredible things I never even saw on the menu, and I'm normally one to really look at everything on there. Haven't been back to Dothan for about a year. This place showed up with good marks. It did not disappoint. The chicken soup was magnificent. The carne Asada steak was to die for! The grilled jalapeño really sets it off. Would absolutely recommend this place to anybody. This is like the food we ate when we went down to Mexico at the little mom-and-pop places. My husband had a family get together for my birthday. Its was great from the staff to the wonderful food. It is the best place to go.

My husband and I decided to eat at La Leyenda after seeing positive reviews on Facebook. We were not disappointed! There were about 100 things on the menu, so it took forever to decide what to order. The waiter was very patient and helpful. The salsa tasted fresh and so yummy! My husband ordered the tacos al carbon, which was fresh corn tortillas with chopped steak, chorizo, onions, guacamole (very fresh and delicious), and cilantro. I got basically the same dish but with chicken as the only meat. The meal came with nicely seasoned rice and beans. There was also an entire quarter of a lime on the plate, and as a lover of lime, this made me very happy. When the waiter brought the meal, he also brought a bowl of what he referred to as "green sauce." He said it was made of tomatillos, jalapeño, cilantro, onion, and lime. It was spicy and SO GOOD on the tacos. Tacos were not greasy, and all ingredients tasted fresh. Each meal was about $10 and the portions were generous. Service was also very good. Just an average Mexican restaurant in my opinion. Upon entering, I felt the temperature was rather warm in the building. I noticed ceiling fans to try and combat the heat. Music is authentic as well as the decor. Salsa served with chips was good because it was chilled. The fresh cilantro in the salsa was fantastic. My kids ordered hot dogs and fries...DO NOT order that at a Mexican Restaurant...they'll learn one day. DH ordered the supreme nachos - that's how he rates all Mexican dives. They were served on a small plate and not impressive. I just ordered the queso fundido because I wasn't ravenous- way too greasy from the chorizo. We will not be visiting again. read more

My wife and I get to go out on a date maybe once a month. So obviously we get choosey when we decide where we want to go. We had heard good things about the new Mexican restaurants in town and decided that we would try it. We walked in to a very nice, newly renovated dining area that was open, well lit by natural lighting, and cool. It felt like we were in one of those small town Mexican establishments you see in movies. We we greeted as soon as we walked in the door by a very nice woman who took us to a very comfortable booth in which see left us and returned within seconds with a basket of fresh hot chips and the most amazing salsa I have ever eaten. The entrees were a terrific value for the money, looked just like they did in the menu and tasted amazing. My wife and I will for sure visit this place again. read more

So I've been in town on business this week and have had some pretty disappointing meals until I decided to try this place. I ordered the tacos al pastor and added a shrimp taco. The homemade corn tortillas might be the best I've ever had, anywhere, with the exception of a place I visited in Mexico decades ago. The pork tacos were simple and flavorful, the shrimp taco was awesome and well seasoned. I even really enjoyed the beans and rice. The service was fantastic and super fast. The salsa was good and had a little kick to it, but I think the fresh oregano made it almost taste like marinara. It's a little different and certainly quite tasty. The only suggestion I have is that the restaurant was a good bit warmer inside than I prefer. I'm still giving this place 5 stars though, based on the overall experience, value, and because my tacos were just that good. I will definitely be coming back to this place next time I'm in Dothan! read more

Based on reviews we decided to give La Leyenda a try. We were not disappointed! Margaritas were very good. Food has very good flavor. Service was pleasant and quick.
