Amazing experience. We walked in on a busy Friday night without reservations. With everything so crowded, the 30 minute wait didn't seem impossible. It went much quicker and I enjoyed a nice conversation with the bartender. Great service from all the staff! 5* Thanks to an earlier recommendation from a tour guide, I wanted to try the local specialty, the veal cutlet. They had it on the menu, so it was an easy choice. It reminded me of a Wienerschnitzel. The crossed cuts in the breading were something I noticed in other Milan restaurants. I enjoyed the tomatoes and basil. All the veggies have been so so fresh. It has been a welcome delight with meals. It was a tasty dish. I had the opportunity to try the Ossobucco (veal shank) with saffron risotto. Wow, the veal was incredibly tender. Loved it and would have preferred it over the cutlet. The risotto was supposed to be a Milan specialty, so it was nice to try. And the bread plate? How often does the free bread plate get its own entry? Well, these bread "chips" (?) were so good...fresh (see picture). they practically melted in the mouth. I couldn't get enough. Wow call Marco at this fabulous place to eat. U want value, service and atmosphere u can not go wrong eating here at dinner or lunch! Service is outstanding, and portions of the best food in Milano are overwhelming. Oh ya prices are very very good. Wine, food and starters are just what the doctor ordered. We first got the pumpkin flower with ricotta and spinach salad with goat cheese which were both delicious! We were definitely looking forward to our main dishes but unfortunately things took a turn for the worst. We ordered cacio e pepe and braised duck with risotto, which were both extremely salty. We had two or three bites of each dish and had to give up on them. We asked the server if these dishes were supposed to be very salty and she confirmed that they were due to the use of pecorino cheese in the cacio e pepe. The risotto on the menu was listed as parmesan but apparently with saffron in which she said it also had a strong taste. It wasn't strong, it was indeed salty which are two very different things. We returned the dishes and asked for the check and noticed a 6 euro discount, not nearly close to the 41 euros we paid for those 2 dishes. The table next to us also left early barely touching their main dish. It is very unfortunate that I have to leave this review, it seems like a well established restaurant with a full house each night. We may have gotten stuck with the bad end of the stick and may have been the chef's off-night. read more

Amazing food! From the Half bottle of house wine, the crackers served at the beginning, the appetisers (pumpkin flowers stuffed w ricotta or the warm zucchini pudding w basil) to the main course of osso bucco and affordable, fair prices. A gem!!! read more

We came here on a Saturday night and this place was very busy. If possible, be sure to call ahead and try and make reservations because the dining room is fairly limited and the tables are on top of each other. The ambiance was casual and very typical of Italian cuisine with the checkered table cloths and carta music (type of paper thin bread) on each table. For food, we did the fresh buffalo mozzarella con prosciutto (excellent and fresh), the osso buco con risotto alla milanese (flavorful and must order as a traditional dish of the city), and the cacio e pepe (always a good spaghetti to try if in the mood). We tried some desserts, but nothing stood out to us. Overall, the food was good, service was friendly and our experience was enjoyable. From what I remember, the prices were also fair for what we ordered and I would recommend should you be in the area. Buon appetito. read more

Right in the heart of the city, near Brera and Garibaldi, this little restaurant deserves a visit. Not too expensive, not too elegant, you can go there with family, friens or business partners (if not too formal). And you will enjoy! Food is traditional Milanese (risotto, cotoletta), but also fish foods and pizza as well! You'll always find what you were looking for, without paying too much. A good recommendation alo for tourists visiting the city, you normally eat quite quickly, therefore there is ooften the cance to get a table even later. But reserving is better. Ah, keep a little place for the dessert: they are all very good, but my REAL favourite is the Hot Ice cream. read more

Nothing to write home about. The veal Milanese was OK, nothing great. A bit over priced for what it is. Service was pretty good.

The entry into La Libera made me feel warm and cozy like an old bookstore with a quaintness about it. The bar was stocked with books and as I approached awkwardly on a work trip asking for a table for one they made me feel less embarrassed and were very accommodating as my Italian is almost nonexistent. The owner was in the house and was amazingly cute in his mustard suit! I tried the prawn, calamari and zucchini dish which the waitress informed me was a house specialty. Although it was delivered so fast it felt less enjoyable and like I was being rushed in and out- the food was delicious. I would recommend La Libera to others but would ask them to slow down the service to add to the experience. read more

Best meal in can remember recently in Italy, US, the world! For the first course, my wife had the shrimp pasta, I had the veal ragout papardelle. Both excellent. Then came perfectly cooked, medium-rare, Filet with Balsamic sauce. Haven't had a better steak anywhere! And then came the Italian "Baked Alaska". A delicious vanilla/chocolate Gelato covered with baked meringue and homemade chocolate sauce! Great atmosphere too! No English menu, which is a good sign that this place is the real deal, but the waitress spoke very good English and was more than helpful in selecting the best items on the menu! read more

The food at La Libera is excellent, and hospitable to English-speaking tourists. We stumbled upon this place on accident on our one night in Milan looking for another restaurant. Every bite of each dish was excellent. We ordered the spinach salad with brie, cranberries and honey, Ossobuco with creamy risotto, sausage risotto with chicory and sea bass with steamed artichoke. Incredibly flavorful and delicious. A good choice when visiting Milano. Molto bene! read more

This is where the locals go - recommended to us by several of our local friends, this is the place to go for typical Milanese food - Osso Buco with risotto milanese, panfried risotto giallo (made famous by an opera singer), cotoletta.
