I called and ask for an appointment for 7:30 and the gentleman told me they were booked but could take me at 8:30. I arrived at 8:30, and the gentleman in charge ask me if I could come back tomorrow because his female foot massager was tired. I saw the woman; she looked exhausted. I said no thank you and left. I think there was only one female massager and 1 male massager. I will not use this place again. It was very different than a few years ago when I went there. There must be a new owner. read more

We came here after a couple of pretty tense days of traveling. We were going to get the 1-hour foot massage for $26, but decided last minute to pay $30 for a 1-hour and 15 minute foot massage. We really wanted to like this place, but it was difficult because of the odd set-up. In the foot massages we've had at many places, we get about a 50/50 amount of time between legs and then head/neck/shoulders/back with a place to lounge horizontally. However, I was pretty disappointed when we arrived inside and the guy had us sit on a footstool where we were massaged on our neck/back area for like only 10 minutes. I thought at first we were sitting for this portion of the massage because the chair did not recline. However, it turns out that the chair was easily able to recline, it was just that the neck/back area was done on a footstool and thus a lot less relaxing. If you do want a good foot massage that focuses on mainly the feet, I do recommend this place for that. The rest of the time was spent on the foot area and although that was nice, it just wasn't worth the month because of the lack of work done on the head/neck/shoulders/back area. We would come back, but now knowing the format of the foot massages, we would only do a "combination" or "full body" massage in order to get actual knots out. Hopefully we are able to increase our ratings based on our experiences with the other massages in future visits. read more

Has this ever happened to you? I'm so excited to relax. I go for a neck and foot massage. I pay extra to increase my time to 75 minutes. I notice he finished 15 minutes early? I question the time and the lady at the reception desk tells me I was there earlier than my appointment which was a lie. I was late. again she out right lied! I again mention I came in 5 minutes later than my appointment and waited a few minutes. She told me I was wrong. You cannot beat this price and the massage has always been GREAT! Very deep tissue, trigger point. $28/hr is unheard of anywhere. These full service spas and hotels are insane when charging $150/hr. the only main difference is a private room. For $100 difference every time, I will expose myself happily to the world. Hahaha. In go in shorts, shirt off and they lube me up like I'm getting an oil change. They use hot towels and when face down, you don't know where you are. It's all very good. Their 60 minute 'foot' massage is a window of blissful relaxation in your day (and is so much more than a foot massage) - no matter how stressed you are when you walk in, you'll leave feeling relaxed and happy. The prices absolutely can't be beat (how do these guys manage to make any money??) and the quality of the massages is great! I live in San Francisco now, and I make it a point to go to Xu's every time I come home to visit my parents. Do not let that sway you from trying the foot and leg message though. My 16 year old son got me a gift certificate for Xmas to this foot spa for a nice relaxing foot massage. I decided to get the combo which was $36. My gift certificate was for $40. Nothing in there is exactly $40 so I ended up with a $4 credit. Anyway, the massage was ok. Nothing great.. getting massages through a towel is not the most ideal, neither is getting karate chopped but I dealt and made the best of it. Overall it was relaxing until I got to the end. When I went to get change up front so I could tip the service provider 20%. I was told that I wasn't tipping enough and that there is a $10 minimum on tipping. Regardless that there was no sign, I was also told that customers know this and that it is the rule. Needless to say I was appalled. How can a business TELL YOU what to tip. Tipping is not mandatory, it is a gesture you get for outstanding service. I am not sure why this entitled mentality has become a part of business. If they want their employees to make more money, they should pay them more money. So at the end, that nice relaxing massage that was taken from me lost them a customer!!! Went here expecting relaxation. Nothing but pain. Scheduled an appointment using the few words the woman knew- "body, one hour".. The price changed from 26 on the phone to 36 when you get there. The woman had the grip of an NFL linebacker. I told her to lighten up and she didn't understand... What she did do is get another woman who spoke better English and she translated. A friend recommended this place to me recently. My neck and shoulders have been killing me so after work I decided to stop in and check it out. I walked in and the girl behind the counter looked at me like I had two heads. I said hello, do you give back massages also. She points to the piece of paper taped to the desk and says this is our menu. I see they have neck and shoulder massages. I asked ok can I get the "relaxation package" for 30 min today. She rolled her eyes at me and says 3:40. I said ok come back at 3:40. She said no we don't take appointments for 30 min packages. I said I don't understand, you just told me 3:40. She rolled her eyes again and says you can come back but we might be busy. I finally understand that she is telling me that's the next available time, so I can wait or try to come back. I don't understand why it had to be a guessing game. Anyway, I don't plan on returning at 3:40 or any other time and my neck and shoulders hurt more now after that experience. Maybe that's their business strategy: get the customer confused and stressed out before relaxing! What I really don't understand is- don't you WANT customers??? Been here many times for foot massage in the past but stopped because I didn't have the time anymore. Foot massages were pretty good, but it was hard to get the same person cuz they wouldn't be there anymore. I went there today for a full body, 1 hour massage for $36.00 with my husband. It was definitely one of the best massages I've ever received. I've had massages at places charging up to 150.00 that would leave me wondering if I even got a massage afterwards. Sure, Xu Foot doesn't have the same ambience as a high end spa, but it makes up in massage. My massage therapist was a gentleman named Lee, and he was amazing. I found myself saying, "Ahhhhhhhhh" in my head throughout the massage. I like a firm touch, but not right away. He built up to that with great technique and fluidity and made sure to ask if the pressure was ok. I enjoyed the entire massage and felt very relaxed as the tensions of being with 2 young children all the time melted away. He also gave a wonderful scalp and facial massage, which you don't see often. I can't sing Lee's praises enough. I will definitely be going back regularly to have him relax me. I will trade the higher end places anytime for what I got today. Sure the place is small and there is no private room. You can hear music from the business next door, but XU FOOT plays relaxing music inside and you are sure to leave accomplishing what you were looking for, which is... A very nice treat for your body. As another reviewer said, I LOVE this place too. I didn't know that you could get a 60 minute foot massage. I always get the 30 minute one. The most relaxing time ever and so reasonably priced. The first time they lightly covered my face with a towel, I was like "Oy Vay" but that actually added to it and blocked everything else out so I could relax and enjoy it totally. This was the WORST massage I have ever gotten in my life. I paid $36.00 for a full body massage and I'm in more pain than I have ever felt before. I would love to get this place shut down as I'm sure none of the employees have massaging licenses. Of course I assumed this when I walked in, however their technique of "deep tissue" was nothing but excruciating. I was actually counting down the minutes until it was over which is never the case when I get a massage. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Also there was no skin contact, the man massaging me covered me with a towel the entire time while he dug his elbows into my spine and "trigger points." Awful, awful experience. read more
