The make-up looks flawless and stunning on my special day. Somehow, I have ordered the wrong hair extensions type (tape-on) from Amazon (instead of clip-on). The amount also not enough as well. Luckily, she had an extra clip-on with exact color and was able to let me use it. I really appreciated how Lauren had went above and beyond to make sure the clip-on and tape-on blend well together. Couple days after, I went to get the extensions removed. The process to remove them was also not painful as I thought also.

After reading such lovely reviews, I gave Julia a try. She was AMAZING! First of all, booking a time with Julia was a breeze. She is super responsive and was able to squeeze me in with not much notice. She is very detail-oriented and I can tell she wants you to leave feeling your best. She was very thorough in carefully straightening every section of hair with the blow dryer and even ran a straightening iron over my hair to lock her work in place. I left feeling like myself again (actually better than my usual self). Not having a right hand as a right-handed person is a major struggle, but I'm thankful I found the best person to help with my hair during this time. Oh - and she has a sweet personality. The Lab Salon was on my way from my house to the Prado, and I decided one day to stop in to see what they could do for my big day. Wesley introduced himself as a makeup artist, I liked the place, he was extremely friendly, and so I booked a consult for the week before the big day. I recommend getting a consult before your actual wedding day. During our consult, we found that I wanted a few things done differently for the big day (lighter foundation, different color eyelids..) The day of the wedding he made it into the salon dark and early at 6AM to meet me for my afternoon wedding. He got to work.. and he didn't stop working till I looked perfect. I have never felt so beautiful in my life. I walked out almost wanting to cry because I looked so great! He is truly an artist, and you will feel like a canvas being painted on. You will feel him add small brush strokes to your face that seem so insignificant, but its that detail which makes the end result so stunning. He is a perfectionist, and will do your makeup with extreme mastery. His products are clean and sanitary, of good quality (Mac mostly), and of variety. He will make you look like you, but better and fitting for your big day. In photographs, the make up looked stunning, no touch ups had to be done in my pictures. He uses false eye lashes (if you've never worn them before, don't fear!), I could never feel that they were on my eyes (that was a first). The next morning I woke up, and my make up was still perfectly in place. I had to scrub very hard to get the make up off!!! Even when I started bauling, no one knew, nothing on my face changed. I didn't feel overdone, or like I had cake on my face. It felt light (for a full face of makeup) and looked great throughout the whole day. He will make you look beautiful, and he's a pretty funny guy to talk to as well. I highly recommend Wesley Dors for your makeup artist for any occassion.

When I finally got tired of wearing the same hairstyle everyday, I booked an appointment with Wesley hoping he could fix my hot mess of thick Asian hair. Short story is, he did! And I look great! In more detail, Wesley really took the time, thought, and effort to see what style would work best for my hair, face shape, personal style, and for when my hair will grow out. He made sure my hair would have bounce and lift without it being too prone to frizz and fly aways. His new space in Jean Claude is gorgeous, parking is easy in its own lot in the back of the building, and it's in a really cute neighborhood. He was thorough, professional, and charming. I'm already thinking of what to ask for my next haircut! But even if I don't have any ideas I feel secure in that he'll know exactly how to maintain my current cut or how to change it up in a cool way that suits me.

Today I had a really horrible experience at Swoop Salon with Sonja. I went in with a groupon with…read morethe hopes of finding a stylist that I liked and would want to keep and hopefully work with me on a color correction. Right of the bat she rushed me in and was short with me, insisting that I just needed a trim. I told her no, I wanted a haircut and I even had pictures. I asked her advice, which I do at any salon, I tend to trust the professionals more then my own idea of what will look good. She was hesitant to give me advice and insisted (again) that I should just get a "trim". She insisted that I didn't know what I wanted and I should just go for a trim a few different times actually, even though I was quite sure how I wanted my hair to look and had pictures with me. So, she lopped off some bangs and asked if I wanted them blended, which I did, and I wanted a asymmetrical haircut with a short right side. Which she insisted she knew how to do, which was quite apparent, after she pulled out a electric shavers and lopped off the side of my head, that she in-fact had no idea what to do. After lopping my bangs off and shaving the side of my head she said, okay your all set. Which then I asked her, "are you done?" All she had done was given me a horrible discombobulated haircut that didn't flow or match in any way. I asked her if she was going to blend my bangs and fame my face which I had asked for and confirmed with her that I wanted. She then got huffy, made the front desk person come over and listen to what I want as a back up, for my second "consultation" She then grabbed the scissors(the ones that are chunky weird blades) and started to cut my hair off in chunks, in my bangs and around my face. She literally has no idea how to do hair I'm guessing, she has no idea how to blend or style it seems to me at all. And at the end of the appointment it seemed that she was "blending" it in a way that was pure spite. Almost like a temper tantrum, It was almost scary. The hair cut wasn't even the worst part of the appointment, She was short, mean, argumentative. When I asked her questions about my hair, she told me my hair was damaged; and when I asked about color, she says she charges $250 an hour and my hair would need 10-17 hours for a correction. (Thats $2500 - $4250 for a color correction!!!! )She accused me of wanting a "groupon" hair color which she doesn't do. I told her flat out I didn't want a discount I just wanted to give her more business and I was looking for someone to help me go more blond.... of course these questions came out before I realized what a horrible job she was doing to my hair. She argued, was nasty, didn't want to talk at all abut my hair or give me suggestions. Which is fine but she was just so mean, un-personable, and incompetent . I'm truly convinced that she lopped my hair off at the end of the appointment out of spite and just plain meanness. The only redeeming part of the whole experience was talking to the front desk person as I was leaving, she was apologetic, kind and personable. She assured me that my information would get to the manager. Please do not waste your time going to see Sonja. That was the worst experience I've ever had with a hair cut. She has a lack of professionalism, competence and she is just plain mean.
