Today I had a really horrible experience at Swoop Salon with Sonja. I went in with a groupon with the hopes of finding a stylist that I liked and would want to keep and hopefully work with me on a color correction. Right of the bat she rushed me in and was short with me, insisting that I just needed a trim. I told her no, I wanted a haircut and I even had pictures. I asked her advice, which I do at any salon, I tend to trust the professionals more then my own idea of what will look good. She was hesitant to give me advice and insisted (again) that I should just get a "trim". She insisted that I didn't know what I wanted and I should just go for a trim a few different times actually, even though I was quite sure how I wanted my hair to look and had pictures with me. So, she lopped off some bangs and asked if I wanted them blended, which I did, and I wanted a asymmetrical haircut with a short right side. Which she insisted she knew how to do, which was quite apparent, after she pulled out a electric shavers and lopped off the side of my head, that she in-fact had no idea what to do. After lopping my bangs off and shaving the side of my head she said, okay your all set. Which then I asked her, "are you done?" All she had done was given me a horrible discombobulated haircut that didn't flow or match in any way. I asked her if she was going to blend my bangs and fame my face which I had asked for and confirmed with her that I wanted. She then got huffy, made the front desk person come over and listen to what I want as a back up, for my second "consultation" She then grabbed the scissors(the ones that are chunky weird blades) and started to cut my hair off in chunks, in my bangs and around my face. She literally has no idea how to do hair I'm guessing, she has no idea how to blend or style it seems to me at all. And at the end of the appointment it seemed that she was "blending" it in a way that was pure spite. Almost like a temper tantrum, It was almost scary. The hair cut wasn't even the worst part of the appointment, She was short, mean, argumentative. When I asked her questions about my hair, she told me my hair was damaged; and when I asked about color, she says she charges $250 an hour and my hair would need 10-17 hours for a correction. (Thats $2500 - $4250 for a color correction!!!! )She accused me of wanting a "groupon" hair color which she doesn't do. I told her flat out I didn't want a discount I just wanted to give her more business and I was looking for someone to help me go more blond.... of course these questions came out before I realized what a horrible job she was doing to my hair. She argued, was nasty, didn't want to talk at all abut my hair or give me suggestions. Which is fine but she was just so mean, un-personable, and incompetent . I'm truly convinced that she lopped my hair off at the end of the appointment out of spite and just plain meanness. The only redeeming part of the whole experience was talking to the front desk person as I was leaving, she was apologetic, kind and personable. She assured me that my information would get to the manager. Please do not waste your time going to see Sonja. That was the worst experience I've ever had with a hair cut. She has a lack of professionalism, competence and she is just plain mean. read more

Decided to pamper myself and got a full hair service. Cut, color and balyage. Mark was wonderful forthe cut, I am very particular and always scared to get layers because it always seems to make my hair thin. But he talked me through it and it now bounces and flows. Love it! Then I got a color for my grays and a balyage. My service with Jeff for that was spectacular, he was friendly and understood what I was trying to accomplish. Looks like Tiffany has fans! I'm not surprised she's amazing at her craft. I've gotten my brows and some other things waxed by her since her days at Cristy Carner. I've had issues everywhere I went to as far as my eyebrows go, before Tiffany was referred to me. I like my brows a bit thicker than the norm, cleaned up and slightly shaped. When I went to other places, I looked like freaking ronald mcdonald or an asian prostitute. I've been to the salons where English is obviously the last language they could possibly speak, to even getting threaded when I was visiting home in Orange County. I always came out with 20% of my brows left and 110% pissed off. Tiffany has been my savior ever since. I will grow a caterpillar on my face if I can't get in with Tiff before I go to anyone else. I would not recommend Sonja. She made it very clear she did not want to do a good job. I wanted a trim but she only trimmed my longest layer but none of the rest of my hair (hard to believe but true). She was also incredibly unfriendly, and borderline rude. Luckily Sam the receptionist was lovely and made me feel better about my poor experience (and recognized the issue with my cut). Other that that, the salon has super cute decor. read more

Just like Jean, I am a huge fan of Tiffany! I also have been seeing her for several years while she was a Christy Carner Salon in Fremont. I now happily drive from one side of Seattle to the other to see her at Swoop. She is a waxing extraordinaire and her facials are wonderful, plus she is always fun to talk to and the time flies. I swear she has figured out how to chat so you don't notice the pain with the pulls of the hair! I even talked to my sister into coming when she had a beach vacation and had to get some business taken care of and had never waxed before. Tiffany made it a positive experience and my sis has since come back. I also give rave reviews to Annie Fisher. I decided rather than split my time between Christy Carner Salon and Swoop, I'd go all the way and change hair stylists as well. While I miss those gals, I'm very happy with Annie. She listens to her clients and is very patient showing how to style your hair and maximize the color so it doesn't fade as quickly. Their online scheduling system is a godsend. Love being able to schedule services at anytime and not have to wait thru a Sunday and Monday to call to make an appointment when they're open like other salons. read more

I am a hairdresser's nightmare. I rarely get a hair cut, I use cheap shampoo, I trim my own hair when it gets too tangly to brush, I don't use product and my hairstyles are either in a bun, ponytail or all over the place. I was greeted with open arms and offered a drink, I tasted some wine of course! I let Mark know right off the bat that I was a hair care minimalist and he may hate me. He said "hate is a really strong word" and shared the excitement that I wanted a large quantity of hair cut off. He gave me a wonderful hair wash and we had fun chopping my hair. First let me say - at my age, I have few things on my body that look good anymore and my hair is one thing I am super picky about, so I don't mess around with it. That being said... :) I've been coming to Swoop Salon for years and finally decided - after ANOTHER great experience - to write a review. The salon itself is super cute! Parking can be a bit of a pain, but I've never not been able to find something within a block. The salon is small, clean and decorated in such a fun way - urban and edgy and feminine all at the same time. You're always greeted warmly and offered something to drink and there's a ton of great magazines to choose from. It's trendy and cool but without the snotty attitudes that I've experienced at other places. Kate cuts my hair (I followed her from another salon years ago) and Kristina does the color (typically ballyage). They're both truly artists! They always listen to what I want, look through my often endless number of pictures, and then help me decide what will work best for my hair based on what I want it to look like and how much time/money I want to spend on up-keep. They are both amazing at what they do and are fun to spend time with. The conversations are always genuine and enjoyable (as opposed to forced and awkward, like other places I've been) and I really look forward to catching up each time I go in. They have awesome products there, but I have to say - there hasn't been one single time and all the years I've gone to Swoop that I've ever been pushed to buy one single thing. They will sometimes ask me if I need anything, but that's as far as it goes and I really appreciate that. Other places I've been to will push product so hard that I actually dread the end of the service because I know I'm going to get the hard sell. Not here. It's nice to know the products are there if I want them, but there's no pressure to buy them. As for the prices - they're not cheap, but when you consider the level of experience and the quality of work, and how nice the salon is, it's worth every penny and more (I would say they're comparable to Gene Juarez with prices, but way better than GJ with experience and results). I've started going to Swoop ever since Kate, who cuts my hair, moved here from Christy Carner. She was totally worth following! She really listens to her clients, but also discusses her own creative input. I've always let her go for it as I trust her opinion, and I consistently get compliments on my hair. And most importantly, she knows how to do short hair that is feminine and sassy. In addition, Kate has recommended that I see Christina at Swoop for my hair color. I am also a big fan of hers. The two of them work together to discuss the overall finished "do" and they are excellent. Most importantly, they know customer service and I really appreciate the treatment they give to their customers. They are not one of the pushy sales people types; they tell you about the products when you express interest. And they are professional and personable which makes the time at the salon enjoyable. read more

This review is for Tiffany Schleder, an esthetician I've been going to for over 5 years, once a month, for the same services: a spa facial, and waxing (including brows). She recently moved to Swoop from Cristy Carner down in Fremont, and I'm a loyal follower! Where Tiffany goes, I go! As I've pointed out in my previous review, I live in Issaquah, so making the long trek out to Seattle (University District) should speak volumes about how much I love Tiffany's services. I usually book my appointments at least a month in advance, and I would suggest you try to do the same. Weekday appointments are a bit easier to come by. One added benefit of having Tiffany at Swoop is that the spa/salon has an online booking system. It can be a little confusing, but it's quick and bypasses the need to call and speak to the receptionist. However, if you're the old-fashioned type, Swoop does have a receptionist there during daytime business hours (I believe 9-5 or somewhere around there). The receptionist is not available during ALL of the salon's business hours, so be aware of that. I first saw Tiffany as she was starting her career as an esthetician at Cristy Carner Salon & Spa. She had some ridiculously awesome prices for facials, so I took the bait, and boy have I been hooked! Obviously, the prices are higher now since Tiffany is now a seasoned veteran in the biz, but her facials are worth every penny! The facials start out with a moisturizing paraffin dip for your hands, then a steam bath for your face, and Tiffany does a consultation of your skin's current condition. It's never exaclty the same, depending on what your skin needs. Then, she performs the usual facial cleansing, extractions, etc... and the best part comes, the MASSAGE! Tiffany has put me to sleep so many times with the facial massage. I can't even begin to describe how heavenly it is! The massage ends with a hand & arm massage. By this time, I'm so relaxed, I barely notice when Tiffany slips out of the room for 5-10 minutes of "quiet time" for more relaxation. The facial ends with a purifying / moisturizing / oil-absorbing (depending on what you need) masque... then, you're good to go! But you don't really want to go, because you're so relaxed. I could go on and on... but overall, I love, love, love Tiffany and I've never had a bad experience! HIGHLY recommend a facial with her, especially if you've never had a facial or if you've only had facials at commercial spas such as Gene Juarez. GJ has its time and place, but for superior service, Tiffany Schleder is a must. (Just as a note, some of this was lifted from my previous review, but the words still hold true!) read more

I have been a client of Tiffany's for about 5 years both at Swoop and Cristy Carner. Hands down, Tiffany is the best aesthetician I've had and I feel lucky to have found her. She makes you feel at ease, has a great sense of humor, and most important - is very gentle. Michelle is absolutely amazing, I recommend her to anyone who is in need of a good wax. I have thick and some what difficult eye brows, and she shapes them perfectly. She makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk into the salon and throughout your whole service. Just the other day I had a chance to get in to see Annie for a hair cut. She has been booked for a while so I was pretty excited to make an appointment. I love that you can make reservations online. I had some difficulty making appointments through the system and I ended up calling to make my reservation, but hopefully next time my account will work. Annie is awesome- she spent most of the time educating me on how I can style my hair and what works for my cut. It was super helpful and I walked away feeling more confident in my ability to do my hair in the morning (and actually have it look nice). Im not very good at it yet, but practicing! The only reason I gave Swoop/Annie a 4 star instead of 5 is the price...I felt like $75 for a cut is expensive...Ill be going back, but maybe not as much as I would like. read more

I can not say more positive things about this salon in general! First, I give praise to Lizzy for her amazing talent when I come in to get my eyelash extensions every 2 weeks. She is so professional and her work is the best I have seen out there! I have many friends who have had eyelash extensions in the past and they do not compare to Lizzy's amazing skill to create natural looking eyelashes! I live in Edmonds but make the drive every 2 weeks just for her attention to detail and couldn't be any happier! I am so thrilled with my lashes and it has really changed my daily life! Love, love, them and Lizzy as well! If you have been thinking about eyelash extensions, Lizzy is the person to see! Second, I have just started seeing Kaylene for haircuts and let me just say that it has changed my life! Kristina is so wonderful! I've had so many bad hair experiences that I actually gave up and stopped coloring my hair for a while. A gal that I worked with recommended Kristina and her hair always looked great, so I gave her a shot. I am so glad I did! She really listened to what I was looking for and did a beautiful job. I have been going to her for over a year now and could not be happier. The entire salon staff is very friendly, and it is a great space. I've been going to Swoop for 3 or 4 years and realized I've never written a review. Should I? It's hard enough to get in now. I'll just make it harder on myself. But it deserves another fan review. Annie is quick -- I wish the experience lasted longer -- but I've never looked so good. The place is relaxed and comfortable. Kaylene has been cutting my hair since I moved to Seattle. It has been long and is in a pixie now. At every length she has done a great job! She listens to what I want and makes recommendations that work with my lifesyle. Her cuts hold up well but never have a period where they need to grow out to look right.
