Now you can't argue with a filling lunch for that price as you nip across the road from the lovely beach! By sheer accident we ate in a lovely Mexican type restaurant the other night just around the corner in Calle Doramas also called Don Rafael, but only to discover that it was very cleverly linked to the Cantina on the front but decorated in a more upmarket way. We had 6 tortillas between us which was plenty with all the filling as I often find that places give you far too many. Likewise the portions of the salsa, guacamole and sour cream were great - and overall the meal didn't leave you feeling stuffed like some mexican food can. When I saw a chocolate looking dessert with sparkler going by, I knew I wanted to sample some, so some chocolate brownie with icecream was swiftly ordered. It wasn't the best I've had, but was tasty enough and presentation wise it looked good. It did take a while to get the bill at the end of our meal, but at 35 euros for three people we couldn't complain and it was one of the best quality meals we had on holiday.

The food is always good quality at a decent price. I would recommend their steaks, especially if you like it rare, they cook them to perfection and they are huge !! There are two other restaurants in costa teguise within about 100 metres of el maestro (la hacienda and el peskera) which are under the same chain which also have exactly the same menu which is a little odd! They all have a slightly different atmosphere, (for example; la hacienda is much more child orientated) but I would recommend all of them as good places to eat in costa.

The chicken was tender and really tasty and they both struggled to finish the hearty portion. As with most places in Puerto del Carmen the food was really great value and at under 35 euro for three people with drinks it was a bit of a bargain. It's a nice little place, right at the most touristy shopping street in town, and it's been a construction zone most of the time we spent on the island. But back to the impoortant things: THE GREATEST BURGERS IN TOWN! They certainly were the biggest we could find. At least for non-option menu orders. The Bun was great. fluffy and solid enough to hold the 240g regular size burger. You can also have a double patty option, that will up this beast to 480g. The problem with most burgers of size, I experienced so far, was taste. This sadly was no exception. The Patty itself was pretty lame and tasteless. In total the Burger is more like: THE MOST AVERAGE BURGER IN TOWN! ... only bigger! Still, prices are fair and it's by far not a bad choice to have a very large snack.
