My husband ordered the lasagne and I the avocado, prawn and smoked salmon dish. We shared a mix salad. The mixed salad was massive and very fresh. Everything was tasty on it, for a run of the mill mixed salad. My hubby liked his lasagne. I liked my avacado, prawns and salmon. The only issue with my dish was they put far far too much of the sauce all over the food. I didn't need that much and scraped a lot off. I were to visit El Olivo again I would ask for the sauce on the side. I also enjoyed their house red, which was a nice Rioja - what else would it be ;) Decent food and lots of it. PS the water misting system they install will keep you nice and cool while you dine.

Initially we thought we would take the shared tapas deal but we found that our favourites on the starter menu weren't included. Instead I chose sizzling garlic prawns and my wife chose mussels as starters, both of which were excellent. We enquired about fresh fish and the waiter promptly brought a platter containing all the species of fresh fish available. We both chose dorado and we got a whole fish each grilled with lots of garlic and served with salad and perfect Canarian potatoes. We both agreed that the fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. All went down well with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. Including the tip the whole experience cost €70. Good recommendation!

I felt like this was the closest to Spanish island authenticity you could get. While the touristy "English" options likely, and probably suck, their highlights are their tapas wheels. They have meat tapas wheels, fish tapas wheels, meat + fish tapas wheels, potato + sauce tapas wheels, and a vegetarian tapas wheel. So many options! I think the winner, and the one that I selected on my first night, was the mixed choose-your-own-tapas wheel. For a little under €12, you can choose 5 tapas dishes from a list, or pick 4 tapas + garlic prawns. I opted for the latter. It comes out on a literal wheel (ie. Lazy Susan) with segments for each dish. I still get confused on the difference between shrimp and prawns. I thought prawns were bigger, but these shrimp were typical sized. This was delicious, the garlic oil they were swimming in was so wonderfully garlicky. I, being a fool, tried this first and promptly burnt the tip of my tongue. For the 4 others, I chose: Canarian potatoes, chorizo, fried Lanzarote cheese with fig jam, and the chicken paella. The Canarian potatoes are essentially plain, baked baby potatoes that are accompanied by 2 killer sauces, 1 green and the other red. These are called mojo, and I strongly favored the green one which is apparently made with avocado (or so my Spanish understood...). The chorizo was pretty good, but not overly spicy and swimming in grease. The fried cheese was stellar with fig jam, but make sure you eat while hot otherwise it cools down and gets all congealy-cheese-like. Paella was okay, chicken and some clumps of rice were a bit dry. I also had a whole bottle of tempranillo, seeing as it was so cheap. When I asked for la cuenta (the check), the server came back with a shot of banana liqueur. I think everyone gets it - does drown out the garlic party going on in my mouth. Overall, I would definitely check this place out for the tapas - I'll be back more times to update with my favorites. I'm giving it 5* because out of all the patrons, there was just 1 guy taking orders and another lady delivering drinks/orders. Very impressive given how hard they were bolting around.

Street parking limited, but this is such a small town with few visitors that it wasn't a problem at all. I highly recommend Teleclub La Vegueta for people looking to avoid touristy areas and want to experience an authentic and affordable Canarian eatery. This place doesn't have a permanently set menu--the chef writes down dishes to choose from on a receipt based off available seasonal ingredients. The dishes available vary from day to day. On our first day, we ordered queso frito (fried cheese cubes), gamba a ajillo (shrimp and garlic), albondigas (meatballs in tomato sauce), carne frita (stir fried meat chunks with parsley, oregano, garlic and salt), and calemar romana (breaded and fried calamari). The garlic shrimp and meatballs were the stars of the meal. The calamari was just ok- it had a soft texture to the breading that I didn't much care for. On the second day we ordered gamba al ajillo again. We also got queso asado (grilled/toasted cheese topped with mojo rojo and mojo verde), carne cabra (goat with a gravy sauce), pulpo a la plancha (grilled octopus), and estofado carrillera (stewed meat, maybe beef cheeks). The carrillera and cabra were super good, and were much larger portions than we were expecting. However, that didn't stop us from finishing all our food! Both visits we ordered five plates to share between five people, which was more than enough for us to fill up. We also ordered dessert-polvito (polvito uraguayo is a typical Canarian dessert, has butter, cream, biscuit, dulce de leche and topped with whipped cream instead of merengue at this restaurant). I also want to throw in a shout out for the vino blanco afrutado, a sweet and citrus forward white wine from Tenerife. I enjoyed it so much I had two glasses on each visit. The service was great! Our waiter and waitress were super hardworking and they did everything including seating us, taking orders, bringing out food, bussing and collecting payment. They were kind and accommodating when we asked questions or had additional requests. Teleclub La Vegueta is a repeater for sure, and if I lived here I would come back. Highly recommend for people that want authentic Canarian food in a chill neighborhood setting.

The beef skewers was not what we expected, but still delicious; beef and toppings prepared inside a pita, there were 4-5 pitas in the basket, so it was more like mini-gyros in a pita, but still good. The prices were good for the size, all our plates were less than 10 EUR each, and the bottle of wine was 12 EUR. Delicious meal, huge menu, pretty restaurant, and very nice outside patio. We ordered 6 and the waiter was shocked saying we'd never manage it! As we waited, we thought maybe we'd ordered too much but we had 4 hours til the restaurant closed so we were in no rush! As it happens, we managed 6 tapas, basket of bread, pudding, a cheeseboard, bottle of wine and liqueur. Don't know what that says about us! We didn't find the portions huge but they were delicious: The fried Lanzarote goats cheese and black pudding with baked strawberry and pepper cream gets a special mention. Staff were really warm, welcoming and funny. We're really glad we chose the old harbour to stay in as it's a lot quieter and with lots of great eateries serving fresh and artistically presented food.

We only had water, a starter and a main course. The cost of which was what I would expect to pay in London or New York for a far better lunch. In my experience, this is one of the better places to eat in this development.

We enjoyed a most wonderful lunch here yesterday and from start to finish it was without fault. The cheerful, friendly and efficient Irish waitress who looked after us was very helpful with menu suggestions, allowing us to chop and change various dishes with ease. The food served was delicious and very obviously freshly prepared for us. I feel I must have had the most delicious cod fillet ever ...it was encased in the lightest but crispiest peroni batter, so thin it was almost translucent - I don't know how they managed it! This was served with crispy potato wedges, fresh tartar sauce and a small side salad. My two companions each choose the same - prawn and avocado salad, which arrived in huge bowls with tons of salad items. We were also given a little basket of warm crusty bread and real butter! Will definitely be back very soon!
