So. Here's the scoop. This is a nice little cafe, the sandwiches are good and so is the coffee. It's a VERY busy tourist spot as well. If you order "to stay", your grande coffee will come in a bowl. Essentially it's a cup with no handles that you can't get your hands all the way around. So it's a big bowl of coffee. It's hot and tasty, just strange to drink from a bowl. The barista made a mistake on my order so when she finally got it right, hubby had almost finished eating. Honestly I would have drank the "mistake" coffee, I even offered to. I'm not fussy. She insisted on making me what I ordered. Ok then... Hubby's ham baguette was good, my lobster sandwich was pretty good as well. Not amazing, but not bad. This is one of MANY possible places to stop. I probably wouldn't seek it out again as there's a lot of other choices available. read more

The service is awesome nicest workers that offered samples. This is a cute cozy place relaxed and chill. There are a couple of smiths in this little old town area do not get mistaken by the other smith this is the one that has the dip cones I made the mistake of walking to the other one :( the cone is sweet but who could resist Oreo dip so unique ! Really like this place. Better coffee options than their dessert joint in Old Quebec. Yummy croissant, delicious almond croissant, and - I presume - great chocolatine since my 3.25yr old son refused to let me try his. Staff were lovely. This is a good place to get a hot drink in this frigid winter season. They are a chain of pastry shops around town, and provide a variety of beverages, pastry and sandwiches at a reasonable price (there are tons of tourist traps around). My favorite is their "galettes" (oat meal cookies). The québécois galettes are somewhere between a oat cookie and an oat energy bar. The size of those cookies are usually the size of you palm. I normally don't expect much from touristy cafes but we really needed something and, let's face it, the patio doesn't get much better than this. The croissant was a little bit disappointing - soggy. Very cute, cozy hipster place (light bulbs hanging overhead in "La Smith Maison" engraved jars, bright red and yellow mugs and bowls, little courtyard leading to an adjacent ice cream shop). My sister absolutely loves the matcha smoothie here -- it was instantly 5 stars for her. The smoothie was made of matcha, almond, and banana. Yummy macarons! Some of the best I've had, chewy but soft, good texture of the meringue, nice delicate shells. Most of the flavours are pretty on point - not too sweet, not too overpowering. My favourites are the creme brulee, poppy seed, chai and hazelnut. The one that wasn't too great was the exotic, with a name like that I guess I didn't know what to expect. Too sweet, a bit sour and of course unique. Besides the flavour, that macaron was decent enough. The cashier was very friendly to us, as English speaking tourists. Felt very welcome here at the cafe. We were cold and in need of a hot drink when we stopped by La Maison Smith. We ordered a chai latte, a regular latte, a hot chocolate and a couple of macarons. The hot chocolate was a generous portion, chocolaty and not too sweet. The macarons were good but nothing special. They have a few tables and we found ourself a spot next to the window which was nice. It was busy but service was fast and tables clear out fairly quickly if you want to sit. Fell in love with La Maison Smith while in Quebec and this location became our go to stop for Coffee. The Cappuccinos and Lattes at Le Maison Smith are amazing and very well made. Some of the better espresso drinks I've had in North America. The Croissants are also very delicious. This location offers a really nice outdoor courtyard with a little creamery next to it. This place was on my list to visit after coming across a buzzfeed article about its Italian sodas. I stopped in and instead was enticed by their desserts. I had the BEST apple pie I have tasted (comparable to my mothers). The crust was crumbly and perfect and oh so delicious. I honestly plan on going back to get another pie. A very cute and cozy spot for pastries and coffee, with interesting décor: a stylish rock wall and mossy mason jar lights livened up the seating in the back. The croissants are huge (as big as my face!) and the lattes are small but taste strong (a small is just a bit larger than an espresso). Have yet to try the cookies, which looked amazing. Well, I don't think that most of the Yelpers have made the difference between the Maison Smith located at rue Notre-Dame and this little coffee shop, which is just in front of the Quebec City municipality building. Even more it seems some check-ins and reviews have gone wrongly to the Notre-Dame location, including my only blurry picture. According to the social media the cafe exists for more then a year. My personal impression is the baristas make tourists, and locals happy. We had macchiato (not on the menu, but made on demand) and cappuccino, both were delicious. The plain croissants were yummy, buttery, a little bit over baked, but good enough to order a third one. The non residents seems to be keen on trying the macaroons. The cafe is a little bit crowded on Sunday morning, but this is to be expected. Great service, perfect morning treat. read more
