Jamie W and I just checked out of our hotel in Barcelona and were anxious to be on our way to Sitges. The beach awaited after all. However, breakfast was a more immediate priority, and we found ourselves at this popular brunch spot a few blocks away from the train station. We waited about ten minutes for a table, and it was clear from the get-go that they were short-staffed because they looked frazzled.
The menu was full of appetizing dishes with an international flair. Jamie started with the 4,5€ Big Orange Juice, while I had the 3,1€ Mocha (photo: https://yelp.to/Lj3W5r0syX). Both met our pressing needs to wet our whistles. For his breakfast, Jamie ordered the 13,5€ Bacon Benedict, which consisted of avocado, crispy bacon, and two poached eggs atop a split English muffin and ladled with a rich hollandaise sauce.
It came with roast potatoes and an arugula side salad (photo: https://yelp.to/niS7BFjCJY). Mine was unique but a bit less satisfying, the 13€ Hash Browns and Beet Hummus where they stacked three hash browns piled atop a beet hummus base and covered with a poached egg, pico de gallo, and crumbled feta cheese (photo: https://yelp.to/oaA7KgWdHl). The cumulative effect was a surprising flatness in the flavor.
FOOD - 4 stars...mostly good, the hash brown tower didn't quite work for me
AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...busy but sunny
SERVICE - 3.5 stars...slow due to short staffing
TOTAL - 4 stars...quality is there, execution needs tweaking
