It's so flavorful and with the garlic sauce it elevates it to be one of the most delicious dishes in Gainesville. I can honestly say I've had really bad luck in this place. Not only does the service take forever, but also it is just crappy food. I just think they don't try hard enough, the people working there perhaps are not properly trained, paid or it just comes all the way from the top. I went there to give them a second chance since I had previously tried them about a year ago and I thought the food was not good back then, but maybe since they have been open long enough, maybe it was that one thing I had. Well I was wrong, I ordered just some appetizers, not even a full meal or anything and they took almost an hour to bring it out!! I didn't want to complaint so I just took my food to go and left, but when I got home the mandocas I ordered were terrible, tasted like they just reheated them and didn't even have cheese or nata which is what they should come with, or how they are served in any Venezuelan place you go to. On top of that, I had asked for cilantro sauce for the tequeños, they said it was in the bag, and when I got home they just put garlic sauce in there!! Absolutely amazing!!!! I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff working are so nice and helpful throughout the ordering process and hospitality. The man working told me the popular dishes and I ordered them and was blown away. The prices on the menu are a little expensive, but the portion sizes are massive. I normally don't trust peoples takes on portion sizes, but I couldn't finish all the food and felt I was going to pop. The patacion is a sandwich between two fried plantains and contains an absurd amount of meat and sauce. The plantains are much lighter than bread and absolutely delicious! The meat in the Pollo Mechado Patacion was a little salty but still delicious. The Aguita E Sapo Arepas were equally delicious. I was able to try one of them and it was one of the top 3 arepas i've ever had. There's a huge block of cheese on them and pork, alongside a ton of sauce. I was blown away. This is in no way a clean meal, expect to get your hands messy but it's absolutely worth it. I absolutely loved the food here and recommend it to everyone. Don't be deterred by the location or the fact it's a food truck. I'd recommend bringing your own water though. Go here!!! read more

I actually stumbled upon this Venezuelan food truck in Gainesville while driving to another Venezuela food place with a friend. We figured we would try it out and there was no line so we were able to order right away. I got the paticone de pernil and a shredded beef empanada. All their food is made to order so be prepared to wait a bit, but trust, this wait is worth it. The paticone was very large but I wish I had realized they include ketchup on it by default, so that gave it a strange flavor that I didn't necessarily enjoy. Ultimately it's my fault because the ketchup is listed right on the menu. The empanada was excellent and steaming hot right out of the fryer. Crispy, crunchy, savory, and warm are just a few of the adjectives to describe it. Next time I would order the arepa de carne mechada. Don't pass by this bright-orange food truck without giving it a try! read more

I had a cheese and potatoe empanada and two tequenos. The garlic maracucha came with the empanada and was killer! The staff was super helpful with suggestions, patient, and (friendly). They have a shade tent with a few tables set up to sit under while you wait and/or eat. Can't wait to visit again and try something new. read more

I was trying to hunt down a different food truck on this day, but I had misread the flyer for it and didn't realize that food truck was way over in Newberry on this day. So I was just sort of driving around town looking for a place to grab something to eat when I realized I needed something in the small shopping complex where La Maracucha likes to park. I got the items I needed in the store, then walked over to the food truck to see what they had. Looking over the menu, I decided on an arepa and an empanada. As they make everything from scratch and do not pre-cook anything, it took a little while for the food to be made, but it was totally worth the wait! The empanadas were tasty, but the real star of the show for me was the arepa! I got ham and cheese, and they used good Mexican cheese on it which just added to the experience. It was a bit messy to eat, but oh so good! I will be looking forward to returning to this truck to experience their food once more. read more

Went to the food truck around Friday afternoon and there were around 5 people waiting. It took around 20-25 minutes to get our food which was the only thing I could complain about. Slight delay in receiving food but worth it. The guy taking our order gave us recommendations and we got a couple of things and they were all seasoned well. It truly warms my heart to see so many Venezuelan food trucks finally pop up in the area. I stumbled upon this gem on my way to la aurora. The staff was very nice , the food was ready in a jiffy and better yet it was finger licking good. What really stood out to me was their chicha. This is a rice milk/condensed milk drink typical to Venezuela. It should be very rich and smooth almost like a milk shake and this food truck got it spot on. I haven't had chicha this good since I last visited my family in Venezuela . I am very excited to go back and try more of their menu and share my culture with my daughters. read more

I've tried this place twice. Good to have such a thing our 'hood, but if you're not crazy about cornmeal, then maybe not for you. Prices are high, but some entrees can feed two people easily. No problem with service. This is outdoors, so can be too hot at times. read more

I was really looking forward to have a cheese arepa (which are made of corn masa)....but it was horrible, no corn and cheese but some wheat masa that had no flavor, endless cheap cheese and katchup spreaded inside, yes, katchup...the empanadas were another dissapointment, the same tasteless masa and the fill was just ground beef without onions or any spice. So, terrinle taste, quite pricey for bad quality and we had to wait 25 minutes, yes 25 min for a food truck order of 2 arepas and 3 empanadas. NEVer again!!!!! read more
