I spent about $100 on two entrees and two appetizers for a to go order, and it wasn't just "not that good", it was honestly terrible and inedible. One of the worst meals I've had in the last 2 years here in Gainesville. The whole chicken was burnt and so dehydrated it was inedible. It was missing the fries it was supposed to come with, and the salad was missing half its ingredients (see pics). The ceviche was extremely fibrous and chewy, clearly made with low quality fish that should never be used for ceviche. The lomo saltado was overcooked, and the nearly $20 calamari came with about 12 small, dried out pieces that looked nothing like the advertised photo (again, see pic, it's laughable). Here's the real reason I'm leaving this review, not just because the food was bad, but because of how it was handled. When I called to request a replacement or even a refund, I was told the food was "fresh" and that the chicken was dry because it was a rooster, despite it being completely inedible. First of all - it literally says chicken, and they usually rotisserie young chickens, pretty sure they use roosters only in stews because the meat is tough. I was also told they don't give refunds because they serve fresh food and the food I got was fine. To make it even more confusing, she then said maybe I could come in "now" for a replacement. When I pointed out that they close at 6, she said yes they do, put me on hold, and then repeated that I could maybe come in today for a replacement, but that there was no one there to cook the food so she's not sure how I would get my food today. So how exactly would that work? The entire conversation made no sense and only made the situation worse. Then she just told me she's unable to do anything for me. I never leave negative reviews, but this genuinely pissed me off. I've been eating Peruvian food for over 20 years, it's one of my favorite cuisines and this was unacceptable in both quality and customer service. How about this for an idea: If you're about to close and can't serve fresh food, stop taking orders. Don't send out what tastes like old, dried out leftovers. I would not recommend. read more

Came here for the Pollo ala Brasa. It surely did not disappoint. Usually I am dying for fish or seafood when I go out. This time I had a feeling their chicken was not meant to be missed. We ordered the whole chicken. This is nice bc it's already cut up for both of us. We also ordered tostones and salad which comes with it. I made it like a tostada and stacked the chicken and lettuce on top with their sauce which was so to die for. I was really happy I was singing. I do that sometimes when I get excited for my food. Latin Blessing is Peruvian cuisine. It is a blessing to the community is the taste of fresh ingredients for the local customer. The restaurant is not big. It has a few in door tables and two outdoor tables. The restaurant has authentic Peruvian cuisine that I can tell since we have taste some real food in Peru before. We got talladin Saltado with beef. The beef is really tender. Right amount of heat. The talladin noodles is awesome. Highly recommended. The spinach and basil sauce are very fresh. Well prepared. The second dish we have is the grilled beef heart. The beef heart needs to slice a little thinner to get the flavor in it. We also go a chichamorada. We have not have this drink for years. I work next door so decided to try this place out for a quick lunch walked in and was greeted by a friendly couple ladies. I had been eyeing the tamales on the menu. Plenty of menus on the outside of the windows of the building. You can also scan a digital menu with your phone as well. My tamale was hot. Had a huge piece of chicken in. It was authentically wrapped with leaves and was extremely tasty. She gave me two sauces with the tamale one was sweet, The other one was kind of like a hot sauce. Mix them both up and just added to the flavor of the tamale. Plenty of seating inside as well as the sidewalk out front. Only peruvian restaurant I know in the area. And they advertise that. This place got impressive, authentic Peruvian food. It located in a strip plaza next to Home Depot and it is the only restaurant in the whole area. We had their homemade chicha morada- it's a purple corn juice. It was a delicious refreshing drink. The anticuchos - the grill beef heart was also good. Green pasta with lomo saltado was excellent. The green pasta was soft, flavorful and the Lomo Saltado was as good as it should be. Those flavourful dishes reminded me of our trip of Peru. They tasted very close to what we had in Peru. We were traveling through the area and saw this place pop up in the search. Since we don't have Peruvian food where we live, we were excited to see this. The restaurant is a reasonable size and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a menu posted outside for those wishing to limit their time indoors. We ordered the Pollo Crema jalapeño, tallarin pollo jalapeño, 2 chicha morada (purple corn corn drink), alfajores (Peruvian cookies) to go, an iced coffee and a Cuban coffee. I think we were charged for multiple Cuban coffees... but we didn't catch it til we left so we just let it be. The food is all prepared fresh and made to order, which I genuinely appreciate. The chicken was well seasoned and not over cooked. The food had great flavor and I didn't leave hungry. Their fried yuca is on point! The iced coffee turned out really good. Our bill total was $76 and I think it's because we were charged 3 Cuban coffees more than we ordered. This place is a little higher in the price side, but it's all authentic and fresh. Nice people and nice atmosphere, however we go there for the food and it is not as good as it was in the early beginning, plus the prices have increased so much for the quality of the food. I am sorry, but I don't like a Centroamerican person cooking a peruvian ceviche because it is not the same. He can follow the recipe but one thing is cooking with passion and other very different is cooking for a business just to make money. My ceviche was undercooked(in lime of course) there was very few pieces of fish, placed over frozen boiled sweet potatoes to make it look there was a big portion of fish when it was not. The "tallarines con salsa pesto" was not good either, my kids that love this dish, didn't want to eat it. Are they New? Opened? - I want to cringe at this Peruvian restaurant in Gainesville. I hope they improve EVERYTHING. Did I come on a bad day? The Service was invisible. Thank god I knew Spanish (pet peeve: if you are a Spanish restaurant in the USA, you should have at least one English speaker on the team at all times.) I was so excited to eat Peruvian food in Gainesville, and in this case, we were so disappointed. We would have dined at the location, but it looks like it needs a lot of tender, loving, care (TLC). The place looks very clean and tidy, though. The cream walls and painting clusters do little justice to the decor, but the paintings are all for sale. The display of a Panettone wall is all the excitement here. We did take out and regret it. Since it was our first time eating here, we didn't know what to expect. So I tried the Pollo Crema Jalapeno - Chicken breast with jalapeno cream. It was grilled chicken, and it was just very dry. I believe they forgot the cream, or maybe it spilled all over the bag since it was all wet on the outside. We also tried the Tallarin Papa Huancainaas, their vegetarian choice. Hidden gem alert! There aren't many hispanic restaurants in Gainesville and even less that serve Peruvian food. This place is authentic and has a great environment. I tried the ceviche and of course had an Inca cola to drink. My friend ordered the arroz chaufa. Everything was yummy! I loved seeing Peruvian decor all around the restaurant and definitely appreciated the effort they put in to make it feel homey. It was also a bit overpriced at somewhere around fourteen dollars. The ambiance is typical mom-and-pop local restaurant. Nothing fancy, nothing aesthetically impressive. My recommendation is just go there. The smoothies are delicious , my daughters get them every weekend. They are a little pricey at $7 per smoothie but they are good. The restaurant on the other hand is just not very impressive. They do not have servers really it's just the owner at the register and serving and basically doing everything except cooking. What a wonderful & delicious surprise. We were in the neighborhood for the afternoon, from out of state, and happened upon Latin Food, Peruvian Blessing during a quick search. The fish was flaky, swimming in a flavorful sauce with multiple fresh veggies, cooked to just the right tenderness & came with fried yucca and rice to round out a well-stocked plate. I chose: Tallarin Verde with Pollo Jalapeno Crema. An excellent choice. The fragrant basil, peruvian crema sauce wrapped itself around the spaghetti, making each bite a pleasure; the chicken was lightly breaded, seasoned very well; fork-tender, coupled with that creamy, not-too-hot, spicy sauce, for a tastebud treat. This restaurant is fairly new so they are going through growing pains and working to get things figured out. This isn't a bad review. I'll wait a while and go again to see if they improve. The Good The Peruvian soup was spectacular! They don't serve it all the time but when they do we will definitely go back. The broth was delicious and had big chunks of meat, vegetables, and hominy. If you want great soup, get their schedule for when this is available. The Cuban coffee - DELICIOUS! The desserts, both chocolate and leche were so good I went back to buy more. The Not So Good The fried yucca was served cold as was the yellow cream sauce. It should've been hot so this was disappointing. The three steak tacos were ice cold. I'm sure the steak was prepped earlier in the day but it needs to be warmed up when it's served. I ordered a chicken stew over potatoes and it was served in the same yellow cream sauce as the yucca. Ceviche is one of my favorite foods and this one was done pretty well. I added some Ají amarillo when I got home because I like it spicier. It was missing the Choclo (peruvian corn) but it still was very tasty. One thing I need to point out is that the onions were cut a little too thick for what they should be in Ceviche. We meticulously reviewed the online menu prior to calling, and placed a takeout order for aji de gallina, tallarin verde with churrasco, tacos, pescado, empandas, etc. Only tolerable items (below average) were tacos, pescado, and beef empanada (the chicken one was gross). The aji had the consistency and taste of paste or glue with chicken pieces and looked like throw up. As mentioned, called ahead, was told 20 min. Arrived 25 min later and order wasn't ready. Let's start by saying that I really wanted to like this place, it is the only restaurant in Gainesville that has Peruvian food. Ordered the aji de gaillina and lomo saltado with taillarine verde. The aji de gaillina had hardly any chicken (super disappointing), was watery, and had a sour taste to it. Even the rice that came with it was hard and inedible. I ended up throwing the whole meal away. The lomo saltado was good, not great, when I compare it to other restaurants where I have had this dish. The Taillarine verde was watery for my liking and a little on the bland side. If you have never had Peruvian food, you may like this place. The desserts on the counter however were amazing 10/10 recommend. I got the cookie with dulce de leche and coconut flakes and it was great. $3.50 seems a little steep, but worth it to indulge. They also sell dona pepa candy bards for $1 each (a staple candy from Peru that is a cookie covered in chocolate and sprinkles). Not sure I would come back. read more

Great food! I've not had peruvian before but I loved it and I will be back. We split the pollo crema jalapeño and a beef empanada. The chicken was delicious and the beef empanada was more filling than expected. I could honestly just grab one of the empanadas for lunch and be very satisfied. We also ordered the Papa a la huancaina but they bring it out at first and then they told me they were short on potatoes and honestly we were full from everything else so we said nevermind. That'd be the only reason why I dont give it 5 stars was I just wish the appetizers came out first and then the chicken. Instead the chicken cam out and I had to ask about the appetizers. This restaurant charged us $69 for a sampler dish that in other places cost from $35 to $50 dollars. "Ronda Marina" is the name of the dish. The food was acceptable to good. The chicken was little dry and the sauce on the papa huancaina was minimal. We ordered two of these dishes assuming their prices were within the normal range.
