We've been here twice, once just us three and again with a group of seven. The pineapple margarita and fajitas were really good and loved the birria taco and sauce Our waitress Lupita made both visits even better. She was friendly, patient, and always checked on us at just the right times. With our big group she kept all the orders in order and made sure everyone had what they needed. Recently moved to the area and are always on the lookout for good food. Well, we definitely found one in La Mexicana. Indoor outdoor seating or takeaway available. We chose inside which was stark with decorations but music played and TV screens were visible from any angle. Greeted and seated right away even though the place was very busy. Chips and salsa (side of quac) while we looked over the menu. There were so many choices, yet we went for some of our favorites, chicken/steak fajitas and chicken enchiladas, both came with rice, beans and salad. Beer or Margaritas to libate or many more non alcoholic choices available. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food arrived hot, delicious and plentiful. We took a menu for future visits. This is one of the nicer Mexican restaurants in HC and the prices reflect that. I ordered guacamole to accompany the free chips and salsa and it was fresh and delicious. The chips also tasted fresh out of the frier, the salsa however was quite plain so I'm glad I got the guacamole. For my entree I had a combo plate with beef quesadilla and chicken tamale. The meat in both were exceptionally seasoned. Also the 2 hot sauces were house made, the green was just okay but the red one had a deep smoky chili flavor that I truly enjoyed. Delicioso! We came here with family after visiting a relative in Winter Haven. We were having a very heavy day and wanted some margaritas and beers and some delicious Mexican food and this is exactly what we got. Our waitress was so attentive and friendly. She was very quick and checked on us often. Most of us got tacos and we ate every last bite. My only dislike was the queso it didn't seem like real cheese but maybe it was just not for me. I ordered a chicken chimichanga, an elote appetizer and a steak torta. We had to wait a little longer than usual for the food to be served but I believe that's because there was a huge family there this time. When the food came me and my boyfriend noticed that his chimichanga had steak instead of chicken inside of it. Strange because he clearly said chicken but it was delicious so he had no complaints. The elote and the torta were AMAZING! I would definitely go there again for those two things. Loved the environment and the workers were nice. Oh and I forgot to mention that there was a strange homeless man that came in and started walking around the restaurant. Me and the family were getting pretty nervous because of him but the manager was soon called and he dealt with him outside. Other than that and the extra waiting time everything was perfect. The food was good, but my Diet Coke had a piece of napkin floating with the ice when I received it. (Picture below) Then I watched one of the waiters drop the wash cloth to wash the table on the floor, pick it up, wipe the seat, then wipe the table again, while reusing the same wash cloth and red water bucket for every table, especially after dropping it on the floor. We just happend by this place and stopped in for lunch . Very pleasantly surprised since the it was modest looking outside .. but had a nice outdoor area as well. Service was A plus our server was named Angie and she was sweet and helpful and Very attentive . We had one in our party with special meal needs and the staff was very helpful and accomodating . Love the food and the service here. It is not fancy but doesn't need to be. The man in charge who does not smile said that chips are extra with Queso Blanco Dip. When we pointed out on the menu that it said it included chips he said he didn't care. Never apologize for the error on their own menu. Never thanked us or anyone for visiting and giving him money. So sad that there is someone who could care less about efficiencies in their own business. The service was great when I came with when there is more than two people. I literally came by myself and talked to one of the waiters once I got inside at the front desk and asked if I need to be seated or can I just sit anywhere . She replied sit anywhere . Pretty authentic but pretty bland tasting food. Chips were very hard even after soaking in the salsa. Fajita meat was overcooked and therefore dry and tasteless. Female server was sweet but apparently not well trained. And the traffic down here makes for even more reason not to come back. A most stop place if you are in Haines City Florida. This is not a fancy restaurant but the food makes it worth your visit. This is authentic Mexican cuisine so if your looking for tex mex dont get confused. I had El Pastor Tacos the first time, and Tacos Birra the second time which was top notch and I highly recommend. My husband I were really disappointed. We ordered for delivery and they gave options as to how we wanted the food made and not one thing we asked to be done was done. I know it wasn't delivery service because the receipt was correct. They did not pay attention. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't the way we ordered it.
