We are big fans of this place and will be back. We came here on Valentine's Day weekend and there were tons of heart decorations. It was very cute. It's a large space so I don't think there's ever any wait. Service was quick and friendly. I tried the margarita flight. I actually wasn't the biggest fan (too sweet) but I'm glad I tried it. Next time I'll stick with another drink on their menu (they have so many great looking ones.) My husband got a skinny margarita and liked it. My older son requested queso and it was pretty good. I ended up drizzling it on my beans. He also got chicken tenders, ended up eating the fries, not loving the chicken so we should try something else. My younger son shared my carne asada, which was delicious. I highly recommend. I added the chimmichurri sauce which is the way to go. I got it with black beans. I wasn't a fan of the flour tortillas so no point in getting them and wasting the carbs. My husband got the taco de asada with refried beans and corn tortillas. He enjoyed it and would get it again. The Azteca D'Oro Winter Haven location is definitely unique in its own right, having several advantages due to its locale. For starters, the Azteca D'Oro is a localized franchise with the majority of its restaurants in the Central Florida region, with currently 2 other restaurants in Wesley Chapel and Brandon, respectively. Returning to the focus of the review, the Azteca D'Oro in Winter Haven was extremely convenient for us as a last-minute, unplanned dinner after a long day at Legoland. Located on the northbound side of Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Azteca D'Oro is less than a quarter mile as you leave and exit Legoland Way. We came on a Saturday night, around 7pm, arriving to an essentially packed parking lot which was promising. Despite the packed venue, we were promptly seated at a booth which was nice. We found the restaurant to be very chique - there was a brilliant fusion of Mexican culture in the color and ornaments in the decor with the very modern restaurant ambiance. Meanwhile, the background maintained a festive chatter to compliment the ambiance. I must admit that the food left a lot to be desired - the ceviche came with cooked shrimp, rather than allowing the raw shrimp/seafood to be denatured by the citric acid of the lime juice, and although the Parrillada plater was filling, the spice and flavor of Mexican cuisine did not appear all there. However, the service was outstanding - couldn't have asked for a more attentive wait/serving staff. The entire staff was enthusiastic to serve - you simply have to admire this (I hope they keep this energy!) After the meal, the grand finale was on display outside. Although it is not correlated with the services provided by Azteca D'Oro, the restaurant does offer a great view of the fireworks and drone show occuring in Legoland around 8-8:30pm after the sun sets. This is definitely visible from the parking spaces in front of the restaurant, and potential viewable from the restaurant in those seats located in the front section. Azteca D'Oro seems like a very reliable Mexican restaurant if you're looking for something easy and hassle free. Their menu is diverse yet pinpointed enough to offer a nice range of choices to selection from. I would say if you're in town, especially if you've come from Legoland, stop into Azteca D'Oro for a meal. read more

Happy hour at Azteca did not disappoint! I came for the 2-for-1 margaritas and was so pleased with how much variety was offered--frozen or on the rocks, and a range of flavors without any upcharge. Bonus: they let you choose salt, sugar, or tajín for the rim (yes, please!), which sets them apart from other spots. I ordered the club quesadillas and they were sooo delicious--cheesy, flavorful, and filling. My cousin tried the taco trio--pork, chicken, and steak--which came with a generous side of rice and beans. The kids' menu is stacked too! We grabbed the chicken fingers for the little one, and even that came with rice. There was even a photographer going around snapping pics--you get a complimentary postcard and can buy additional prints if you'd like. Cute touch! Great add to the Winter Garden Area What Had a drink a 2 appetizers with a friend here. We got the table side chips which for the guac it was good. They have additional add of bacon or/and cheese which I skipped on. a little bummed they didn't ask how spicy I want it, but the guac was good. I also did the ceviche, with mixed of shrimp and octopus. It was good but I think it got fishy really quick. There is complimentary chips! And they came a warm, which was tasty! I am disappointed that the second bowl of chips I got was more crumbly.. like the bottom of the batch.. The drink was also decent Environment Really really nicely decorated. I love, love, love this place. I found them in Orlando, but after moving to Winter Haven, imagine my delight when I found a location about five miles from house. I'm so happy!!! I had the house margarita on the rocks, the macho burrito, and lots of chips and salsa. Lord I walked out so stuffed. Stern Sally never smiled or said another word. No matter we were greeted by a lovely server named Alondra, she was the one pleasant experience of our visit. Every piece of bad news was delivered or accepted with a smile. Let's start with the drinks order. We ordered and my dad's Tanqueray and Tonic was something else and club soda, they didn't have two of the drinks on the special drink menu actually on the menu anymore (like they're not even in the pod system anymore) so not sure what the point of giving us that menu (thanks again Stern Sally!). No other spicy margarita option was offered so I stuck to water while and stepmom had a house margarita (she didn't finish it). Ambiance is great. We called to check if we needed reservations (we didn't) and if there was a wait (there wasn't). We were immediately seated when we arrived. Service was slow to bring my drink, which was mostly ice... ask for light ice, learn from my mistake. Food was delicious. All of the servers seemed miserable and that was my reason for taking a star off. Everyone who worked there were in bad moods. It was unprofessional. We ordered the ceviche traditional (mixed) which is octopus and shrimp but it was mostly onion, tomatoes, and cucumber with little shrimp/octopus so that was disappointing. Tried out the Chicken Macho Burrito with La Crema Sauce for an early dinner. I was craving a burrito and wanted to try out the burrito here. This entree DO NOT come with sides of rice and beans. You just get the huge burrito itself. The burrito is huge it pretty much covers the whole serving plate. The burrito consists of the chicken I chose as my protein, rice and beans with lettuce and tomatoes. It is then smothered with my favorite la crema sauce cheese sprinkles. The burrito is delicious. The chicken is seasoned well and the sauce is just so yummy. I just wished they stuffed more lettuce and tomatoes inside. So I notice today that the server stood by me when she gave me the handheld kiosk to pay my bill where she can see the tip amount. I dislike when servers do this to customers. Azteca Mexican Restaurant is an excellent Traditional Mexican Restaurant that reminds me of high end restaurants in Mexico City. Everything is done professionally from the crispy taco shells that are used to hold refried beans and sauces to the Top Shelf Tequilas that are available with Traditional Margaritas like Tamarind. We've eaten here many times for date night or entertaining our aging parents for lunch. They have great lunch and dinner menus with a reduction in prices for the lunch menu. There is nothing I have eaten here that I did not like from the Pollo Asado al Carbon, Fish Tacos, Chili Rejeno, Osso Bucco, Enchiladas and Fajitas. The service is excellent with mostly mexican staff. The restaurant is beautiful, filled with beautiful Mexican art and light fixtures. The dinner prices are somewhat expensive and reflect the quality of the food. For lower prices, try eating here for lunch. We have made the restaurant a place where we must eat every couple of weeks. Walked in and got seated...if you read my reviews you know I got enchiladas with Verde salsa. Taste was there, food was hot. Rice tased like it was frozen and microwaved but everything else was good. We tried the tamales...got chicken. I have this thing about tamales and it's either love or hate. These were good on taste but the consistency was not there. The service was awesome! Gemma was great. The ambiance is good...they have lots of Knick knacks and little trinkets to look at. We got fried ice cream to try...I've had better. Overall it was a good experience, we will go back. Wow! My family and I had just left Legoland for the day, and the vote was for Mexican. I always like trying places I've never been before, and am I glad I did. We sat down at a beautiful booth in a clean environment. The ambiance was beautiful. Our server, Daniel D, came by promptly, asking for drink orders. My mom got the 2 for 1 margaritas (great price) and my husband got 2 for 1 beer. I was driving so I asked for a non-alcoholic drink, and he recommended the mojito. It was seriously the best non-alcoholic drink I've ever had. The food was delicious. I got a chimicanga and enchilada duo, which I shared with my mom. My husband ordered the tacos de birria. We had a great experience at Azteca de Oro in Winter Haven and it's my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the Orlando area. They have multiple locations and their food is delish. We visited on Mother's Day without a reservation and they sat our party of 9 very quickly. Their table side guacamole is a must! It's prepared right in front of you and you're able to customize and add as much or as little with each ingredient. You can omit any as well. I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself with a spoon...it was that good. Everyone at our table got something different and there were no complaints. The food was hot, portions were large, and dishes were delicious. Most everyone at the table took leftovers to go. I had the rice with shrimp and I enjoyed it and would have it again. We always would go here when we are in town. The food was delicious and plentiful. We noticed the last time we were in town there was no one in the restaurant. So as we were in town again we thought we we try and see why they were not crowded. Will it didn't take long to figure that out. We were given a very small bowl of chips with salsa. When that bowl was empty we ask for some more and was told the first bowl was on the house but would have to buy the unlimited for 5.99 if we wanted more. Then after looking at the menu they have raised the price. So that explained why no one was here. I don't see this place being open for much longer if they don't do something to get people to come. There was no wait, they were able to accommodate 4 adults, 5 kids and 2 infants. The service was fast and the setting was nice. The salsa was a bit spicy and not amazing- strong basil taste. I loved what I got, the enchilada la creama meal with rice and beans. I subbed the sauce on one with the green sauce- delicious!!! Everyone at the table also loved what they got, shrimp fajitas, fajita sampler, queso, Tex mex tacos, etc. It was a little expensive in comparison to other Mexican restaurants I've been to, but very good food and I'd definitely go back.
